Once the Alexa app is installed on the smartphone, the installation will be guided. Alexa can control: lights, televisions, curtain systems, air conditioning, some cars, and anything that says "works with Alexa". It connects to Samsung's Smarthings, Ezviz and the Phillips system. I use it a lot, for example to listen to my favorite radio! The only negative thing I noticed is that after about 3 days of being on, it lags, and needs to be unplugged and reconnected to the power supply to be restarted and respond quickly. In short, a not indifferent help that you activate with your voice, and is constantly evolving, with new features and skins. I can no longer do without it!

I love that i can add to my grocery list at anytime. You can call and text anyone. The alarm clock is loud which is good because my husband could sleep through a tornado and never know. The music sounds beautiful. I love that it give you reminders on the days you need reminded about appointments or when bills are do. All you gotta do is download the Alexa APP and youre good to go. This (Mine is in a beautiful blue color) seemed to have everything I was looking for. I read a bunch of the reviews left for this product and felt I should leave 'real" feedback because some of what is written by others is patently false. This is an absolutely great product. Here's why: 1-form factor-Great design. Taken from the Apple playbook, the softball-shaped and sized unit blends nicely in any environment. I like the color choices. I have a blue one and got my wife a white one. Both look very cool on the night table. The somewhat muted display goes from very bright (10) to off. It can be changed with a voice command or will change automatically based on ambient light in the room. 2-Sound- Look-this is no audiophile component. It's small size limits the quality of the sound. Get a few Amazon smart plugs and you can do all kinds of stuff. Make your coffee and toast in the AM, turn on or off virtually any appliance plugged in. 4-Super easy set-up-Get the Alexa app and follow the instructions andthis is literally plug and play. Reviewers claiming difficult set-up make me wonder. If this is difficult, you will have difficulty tying your shoes. So, in summation, Amazon has created a near perfect melding of form and function. Stream podcasts, or your favorite radio or TV shows. It's applications seem limitless. For the price, it's a no-brainer.

I love this thing!

I am late to the party when it comes to Smart home type stuff. I never felt the need to have a smart home or speaker. In fact, I once picked up a Home Pod Mini, and I wound up returning it. Issues that I won't fully go into here (I think I reviewed it), but ultimately (and ironically) it was SIRI that really unimpressed me. I've been a long time Amazon user, Prime member, etc. Although I mainly use Apple products, in my opinion, ALEXA (next to Google Assistant) is the most intelligent and actually useful digital Assistant/Ai. The Set-Up was painless. The base feels very secure--Almost like this thing generates its own quantum gravity. The sound is great for such a small design. The response is immediate. The clock is what grabbed my attention and then the awesome price. I was also surprised to find that there was an Alexa Companion App, which helps with setup and customization. I am no slouch when it comes to tech, but like I said earlier, I am new to the realm of "smart home" tech. I have to say that being able to control stuff, even something as simple as a light, with a voice command is just really cool. Also, there is so much more to the ALEXA experience. After the initial customization, she evolves over time and you learn more about what this device can do: Reminders, Timers, Casting to it as a Smart Speaker, Setting routines, Automation, Playing something to fall asleep to. You can whisper to it and it will whisper back. All I am saying is that if Alexa and Google Assistant were to merge, SkyNet will be the product. Siri is fine for small stuff. But Alexa almost feels like you're speaking to a person. Imagine what the next 10 years will bring.

I received the Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen) with the Clock. Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was how small and light the device was. It literally fits right in the palm of my hand. The Echo Dot also comes with everything you need right inside the box. All you have to do is plug in the device, connect it to your WiFi and download the Alexa app onto your phone/device. It’s really easy to do by following the instructions via the instructions in the box and through the app. I like the colorful lights that go around the bottom when Alexa is activated or if you have a notification. The speaker is fairly loud but it tends to get a little distorted once your at max volume. There are endless possibilities you can do with this device like: asking for the news, weather, different questions, playing music, creating lists, making Amazon purchases or even controlling other smart home devices. Another thing you can do is set up Guard which is free in the Alexa app. This will send mobile alerts to your phone if your Echo device detects the sound of a smoke alarm or glass breaking while you’re away. There are controls on top of the speaker so if you want to turn the volume up or down or turn off the microphone you have that option. Overall, I think this is a really useful device. The Echo Dot is not only fun to use but also helps simplify my life by reminding me of appointments and creating lists. I would highly recommend, especially if you are in the market for a smart speaker.

I bought this Echo Dot with clock to use as a bedroom alarm clock. I love that it kept accurate time, and that the brightness of the display adjusts to the ambient light in the room. It’s also good for playing music or white noise when going to sleep. After using the device reliably for a year I almost missed a flight when the alarm didn’t go off to wake me up one morning. The Echo had hung and wasn’t responding to voice commands. The clock still displayed the accurate time. Since then, the unit has continued to hang a couple of times a day. The problem usually happens right after giving the Echo a command. The LEDS at the bottom come on and then stay on. At this point the only way to restore it is to unplug it for a few seconds. This experience has caused me to lose confidence in the reliability of Echo’s in general for anything important and now I use my phone for wake-up alarms.

Useful for everything - beats Google's by far

I've had my two echo dots for a while now and have to say I'm very impressed. It's able to help with so many things from weather to news to shopping lists and just looking up stuff and answering questions and setting timers and alarms. I was surprised by the quality and pickup of the mics and it's able to hear me from anywhere in my large living/dining room. The speaker quality is also amazing with punchy bass and I regularly use it to listen to music and podcasts and also can connect my phone to it to use as a Bluetooth speaker. If you have more than one you can also play music across all of them and fill your house which sounds really cool.
