Amazon Echo Dot with Alexa (3rd Generation) [Heather Grey]

The Amazon echo dot 3 generation is perfect for anyone’s home, I love mine! I use mine for playing music which is crazy how loud is can go for such a small device. I also use mine all the time to track where my amazon orders. The voice recognition is great it always understands what I’m asking. It’s crazy what you can do with this little device I also play games and it can tell you jokes. It’s also very handy to find out the weather or how to cook something, you can also set timers which is great.

We received our Amazon Alexa Echo Dot, as a free gift when we purchased a subscription to Sirius radio in 2018. A small compact disk, it provides many features such as a wakeup alarm, music and weather updates. Alexa gives us notification reminders for upcoming Amazon orders. You can also order food as it provides you with a grocery list from your recent orders While it also connects you to the Amazon app, It asks for reviews on our Amazon products on past purchases sometimes asking us us to thank and rate our Amazon driver and purchases. I highly recommend getting an Amazon echo. Small device that can be easily placed anywhere in any room in your home. 

We love the echo dot! It connects easily and has great sound quality and volume for something so small. I like its low profile because it’s easy to make blend in , as I typically hate clutter on the counter. We have had ours for several years and it still works as it did new. I love that my kids can use it to call me when I am away. We use it for timers around the house, and my son especially loves to crank the music on his while he is in time out in his room. We also use it to control lights and plugs. My kids also all use it to help them with homework! As an added bonus, the kids edition comes with the kids plus subscription free! Getting it with the subscription is cheaper than JUST the subscription by itself. Totally worth the money!!

"THERE ARE EARS EVERYWHERE" Yeah, it has me skeptical of the technology that's always listening. But my phone does it, and, what the heck, I just went for it. It was a good deal - buy a month of Amazon Music Unlimited and get the Dot for 99 cents. I couldn't resist. (That's how they get ya! haha) I'll tell you what, I am loving this! My shopping list is so accurate now lol I don't have to stop cooking and wash my hands to add something to a list (which never happens because I don't want to stop cooking to do that, so half the time I forget to add to the list!) I just say, "Alexa, add _______ to my shopping list, please!" and it's done! I can ask it to turn on my lights when my hands are full, which has been helpful. I never wanted to be an “Alexa” person- but this thing is a favorite household item. 3 things on the stove? “Alexa, set a time for ____” and now you have 3 different timers set so you never burn something. Need to listen to something while you cook, clean or eating dinner/sitting outside? Alexa is your girl. Podcasts, radio stations, lists, recipes, fun facts, timers, literally anything you use your phone for you can use Alexa for. I love the simplicity and ease of this. No setting up beyond connecting to your WIFI. You plug it in and go. The Alexa app is so easy to use as well. Can’t recommend enough. You can also turn off the “hearing” part of Alexa so if you’re nervous that she’s “listening to you” you can mute it!

Got it because I thought it would be fun, but it's a little frustrating having to repeat yourself to Alexa when she doesn't understand you. I can already read the time, look at the weather and call ppl on my phone. The only thing this adds is a speaker for music. This is a decent device that comes in a small and sleek design that lights up really nice and plays good quality music. I just don't think I need another device in my home spying on me potentially. I keep it in the box and bring it out during parties for music and entertainment. I don't see myself replacing it once it's gone.

The combination of piano melody and waterfall sounds could give me such a relaxing moment. The Echo is well-designed , having good sound quality and easy to use. It is easy to connect as well. Voice recognition is a huge plus point. I use this everyday to listen to news, podcasts, weather or even ask for a sample. Amazon Alexa is user friendly which offers a variety of channels. This also notifies me when my Amazon order is delivered. This makes my life easier :)

The build quality was just fine, and the value was perfect for me because I paid one penny for it, while others pay much more. However, there are still many glitches and issues with the Echo Dot that I struggle with, especially when I have to repeat myself multiple times, and it still gets it wrong. Recently, my Echo Dot stopped working altogether, and I haven’t been able to fix it since. Despite these issues, it was definitely helpful. I could check the time, play a song while getting ready, and listen to podcasts. Love this alexa. I have one in literally every room of the house! this model has held up well. GREAT speakers when comparing to all generations before. My ONLY complaint is that i am fairly certain that unplugging them causes them to get dumb and slower over time. The bathroom and kitchen alexa get unplugged the most and are used fairly often and they are kinda very annoying sometimes. However, my bedroom and living room alexas are the same age, model, and get used probabaly double the amount but they never get unplugged and theyre not dumb and are fast and smart.

Alexa recognises around 90% of what music I ask her to play (which is mostly very mainstream 70s-present day rock/hard rock) whereas Google Play really struggles. For example I’ll ask Alexa, “Hey Alexa play (for example) Metallica, Hit the Lights” (artist then song title) - Alexa almost always gets it first time (if she doesn’t it’s usually because I haven’t spoken clearly enough) but I’ll ask Google “Hey Google Play Metallica, Hit the Lights” and 9/10 times Google says it doesn’t know what I mean, OR it completely mishears me and plays something random which I didn’t ask for.
