Amika Nourishing Mask, Soulfood - 60 ml

I received this hair mask as part of a Christmas gratis box from Sephora. I was a little doubtful about it, as Amika usually isn't optimal for my hair. However, after trying this mask, I'm giving it a solid four out of five stars. It has a faint, soft scent to it, but not enough to make my fragrance sensitivities act up, which I always appreciate. It applied well, and after the recommended 5-7 minutes in my hair, it rinsed out well, without leaving behind a coating.I have long, thin, fine hair with split ends. I was able to detangle my hair fairly easily without using my usual leave-in conditioner, and my split ends aren't especially noticeable after using this product. I can honestly say this is a great mask if you’re just looking for something with a bit more oomph than your conditioner. Naturally smoother conditioned hair is going to feel healthier and stronger. I can’t say it had any hair density properties but it doesn’t claim to either, so that’s fine but this may not help that if that is what you’re after. It’s priced at 44$CAD and I think that’s reasonable for the tub size (250ml) - most other masks in this range have less product and are more expensive by a few dollars. Hello! So my hair has always been fine hair of medium strength. I use a hair dryer and straightening iron every day. Mind you I use it once a week and use about the size of a quarter which is plenty for the length of my hair which reaches to my belly button. I also use it from time to time on my two daughters hair. Literally first time using it and the more I use it the more I love it. I even bought their heat protectant which I use mostly on my daughters and the shine is out of this world and that bottle was purchased in February and I still have half a container ! I use that bottle more than the mask! These cosmetics are very pricey in my opinion but after using it? The price is so cheap for these items because other bottles I would have would run out so fast! Coats Your Hair in Dimethicone, For a Fake 'Smooth' Feel

You recently sent me a sample of your Soul Food Hair Mask, and I was keen to try it because it looked and sounded good. What a disappointment. This is basically no better than those cheap high street or supermarket conditioners that contain dimethicones to coat your hair in a silicone-based coating to give that fake smooth feel to your hair. I expected better from this product because I thought this was a premium brand. But alas, no. This is the same cheap stuff as those cheap high street / supermarket conditioners, only yours is dressed up in a colourful label and fancy description to make yours sound premium. Extremely softening!

This is supposed to be a hair mask, but I love using it as a conditioner whenever I wash my hair (the instructions do say that you can use it daily if you have dry hair). It makes my hair feel super silky as I’m washing it out and super soft when I’m drying it. Ingredients have changed for the worse!

I had been using Soulfood for years and have never found such an incredible product. I have fine, straight hair which gets very oily. This was the only conditioner that I could find that would nourish my hair without leaving it feeling heavy and greasy. UNTIL NOW :( The ingredients have changed. The mask is now white instead of yellow and comparing the ingredients some things have been taken out and added. Now when I use this it leaves my hair a tangled mess and leaves it feeling waxy when I wash it out. When it dries, my hair is left stringy and greasy. I would never buy this again if they are going to keep this ingredient list - I will now look for something else, such a shame. :(

Stay Away! Damaged my hair and others!

I think it is awful that they give people who are incentivized a different product. I didn't get the nice white conditioner that gets good reviews on here. Instead, I got the yellow one. I am glad that I only left it on for 20 minutes, otherwise, I would be bald! It caused major damage to my hair and I have split ends from the root down. I also had hair loss and a big clump of hair fell out! I used their dream routine and loved it, so I thought this would be great. I read the ingredients and there are some questionable ingredients included in this that can cause irritation and allergic reactions. Why not sell the white conditioner to the consumers instead of this awful concoction that fries your hair?
