Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming Wifi II AMD B550 Socket AM4 ATX

I needed to replace my Motherboard as it just stopped working and after looking around and reading reviews and previous experience with Asus products I decided on this one.As I have shopped on Ebuyer before I knew where to get it from as they only sell quality products and they are a company that you can fully trust, I decided on the following Motherboard,ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX Motherboard. it was on offer at the time off purchase, the Motherboard looks cool and has all the ports that I needed to get back up and running again, the only difference from my old Motherboard is that the new one has Bluetooth and Wi- Fi on board.Installation was quick and easy and went very when, the Motherboard does come with a beep speaker, it has an led display on ... MoreI needed to replace my Motherboard as it just stopped working and after looking around and reading reviews and previous experience with Asus products I decided on this one.As I have shopped on Ebuyer before I knew where to get it from as they only sell quality products and they are a company that you can fully trust, I decided on the following Motherboard,ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX Motherboard. it was on offer at the time off purchase, the Motherboard looks cool and has all the ports that I needed to get back up and running again, the only difference from my old Motherboard is that the new one has Bluetooth and Wi- Fi on board.Installation was quick and easy and went very when, the Motherboard does come with a beep speaker, it has an led display on the Motherboard which allows you to see if there are any problems, I however added a beep speaker which is cheap and very easy to add to the board.After checking that everything was connected correctly I switched it on, there was error lights that came on but after checking the manual I located the problem which was that I had forgotten to plug the power supply cable in for my graphics card, once that was done their were no more problems.Asus are a quality company who make quality products and when you add Ebuyer into the mix you know that you are in good hands and at the price it was a no brainer, I would fully recommend this Motherboard to you if you are considering buying a new or just want to upgrade your system.

Does the job, no messing.

Installed this new motherboard about a month ago now. The process was quick and painless, the instructions for CPU fan mount installation were clear. My PC is now running smoothly (and nicely faster than before). I especially like the software included for monitoring fan speeds and temperatures, (showed me that my older, noisier fans are not needed even under load! So it's quieter too). I haven't needed to mess with the BIOS much at all, but it seems the usual ASUS intuitive.My one gripe is that the included WiFi antenna cable is too short (it's only about a meter), and my older longer cable antenna I had been using with my old wifi card doesn't work very well with this.

Ethernet driver incompatable with Windows

The ethernet port on this motherboard does not work with Windows 10 (unsure about 11). The LAN driver installer crashes at runtime. After installing their Armory program (which requires an active internet connection to install) I can get up to 6mbps but nothing more. I typically get closer to 800 from that port. Googling this issue reveals a lot of people have this issue and the motherboard just ships with shoddy LAN drivers. There are some hacks and workarounds but no real solutions.The hardware works fine on Linux, this is driver issue and they are never going to fix it considering this chipset is already headed into obsolescence.

Expensive but good quality with excellent features

A great entry into the B550 chipset from ASUS/ROG here. The WiFi-6 aerial has a good signal pickup range. Good choice of USB 3.0 and 3.2 on the back IO, as well as the 2.5G ethernet port. Do note that some latency issues have been reported with this Intel ethernet controller (Intel I225 V2). Doesn't seem to have much significant impact in games though.Only the ROG "eye" is RGB, which is a bit disappointing as this can be covered if you have a large air cooler. Would be good if there was another RGB strip near the motherboard power connector. There is a six pin and four pin CPU power connector, but it works well with just the single six pin connected. For most use cases only 6-pin is needed.Good number of motherboard headers, including 2xUSB2.0 and 1xUSB3.0, and several fan headers spread out across the motherboard. The power delivery or VRMs are of good quality according to experts, however the heatsink design is not the best, so you may see some high temps on the motherboard (This is generally not too bad, so long as it's under 100 Celsius).Overall an excellent motherboard offering, however it is definitely overpriced. B550 in general is a very expensive chipset, so you may want to look at cheaper offerings for both B450, B550 and even X570. I got this with the Asus Cashback deal (CPU+Mobo combo) making it a bit cheaper (about £20 off as Ryzen prices are a bit higher on Scan, and shipping on top).

Good board, manual needs a update

I really like this motherboard, it gas a good amount of ports and fan support. I would like to see a bit more on that, but for this level of build it isn't necessary. My one complaint is about this MB is the manual. The ram diagram and text is not clear. The shaded color makes it look a different way the the text says. The first two are light gray, while the last 2 are dark gray. But then the channel list 1,3 as channel A, and 2 and 4 as channel B. Any one who has built a pc knows how frustrating that can be. I even checked online it was just as unclear on the website. Now its not the end of the world to switch them but it really should not be something that is unclear. I would definitely recommend this board though. Everything hooked up easily and quickly.

Great motherboard, refurbished unit was a good deal

It's a great motherboard, booted up on the first attempt and I haven't had any issues with it using a Ryzen 5700g. It seems to be much higher quality than the gigabyte board I had before. BIOS flashback allowed me to update the BIOS from USB without a CPU, which is helpful because I'm not sure if the original BIOS installed was new enough to support Ryzen 5000 series. This was a refurbished model and I did notice a few specs of thermal compound on my CPU socket, but I was able to remove them with a q tip and it didn't cause any issues, besides that the board looked new.

Impressive

Installing tech did not mention any problems

This is my first PC build so I had the MicroCenter tech put everything together. No major complaints thus far (~1 month).Please note, in updating drivers for onboard wifi make sure you have the entire board name searched (wifi ii) otherwise you will download wifi drivers for the incorrect board and your wifi will not work. Took myself, the tech, and the tech manager to discover this easily overlooked detail. Once we found the correct wifi ii driver, wifi immediately worked.I did attempt to install rgb controlling software between CPU, GPU, and mobo and it caused vram rgb to fail. Uninstalled the software and it fixed the problem. Lasted half a year

Nice features, but began to freeze up after a half year. Checked RAM, replaced the M2 drive, checked peripherals, it came down to the MB. Sent it in for repair, Asus sent it back with a mere BIOS flash, which I had already done, saying they couldn't duplicate the problem. What, on 10 minutes of bench time? Just had another freeze up 30 minutes into today's morning session, lost work. Looks like a throwaway. Bought Asus against my better judgment, will not do so again.

Quick Delivery and Easy install

Pulled out my older Asus AMD motherboard plugged this in with new DDR4 memory and Ryzen 5 VGA processor - it worked straight away on my existing hard drive with W10. Did need to add the new drivers from the Motherboards installation DVD. What has surprised me was my W10 key code remains active.The Wifi did not work until 1) you have to turn it on in the Bios, then 2) the software now appears on the installation disk for you to install (which it did not before) - same with Bluetooth. The WiFi Arial is magnetic and picks up many more WiFi names than my Router - its really good.You notice the increase in speed when you install new softwareScan sent it the next day - well packaged.
