I eyed a portable monitor when I was travelling for work a lot, however with COVID there is no much time for that. However I ordered it now for moving overseas and for the time until my workstation setup arrives. I went for the HDMI version so we can connect the Nintendo switch as well. What I like about the monitor: It's super easy to setup and connect the monitor. On the work laptop I just plug in the USB-C cable and all is done. adjust the screen brightness and colours a little bit and done is a dual monitor setup. The other laptop unfortunately cannot do the power and display through the USB-C cable, so make sure to check your laptop capabilities before buying the USB-C only option. Don't expect too much from the speakers, it's OK and good that they are included (for the switch), but there are definitely phones and other mobile devices that come with much better quality. When I looked at the sleeve/stand design I have to admit that I was skeptical about it's useability at first, but it proves to be a great protective and lightweight sleeve that works really well as stand. I am so glad it proved me wrong (when I raised the instructions I was raising an eyebrow and thought about looking for alternatives). It does not have a battery, which I preferred, since I usually would have a power source and still could run it from the work laptop without other power source. I prefer that setup and the light weight benefit associated with it opposed to a heavier device with a battery. It's a great traveling companion, if you are used to working with 2 screens it will help you a lot.

I often go to coworking days or work away from my usual office set-up. Normally I have two screens because I'm constantly working on multiple documents. When I'm not able to use two screens, my productivity is far less, and it just gets plain annoying after half an hour. I bought the ZenScreen specifically to have a second screen that was a decent size, easy to transport and would make working away from the office as productive as working in the office. And it does just that. I love the carry-case doubles as the stand for the screen, and you can choose between portrait or landscape orientations. It's simple to set up and works well with my HP laptop. I gave it a good test at an away weekend where I was working 6-8 hours a day on my laptop, and it was fantastic. I will be bringing it with me wherever I go with my laptop. The only thing to check is if your computer/laptop has a USB-C thunderbolt port. Mine didn't, so I must use the micro HDMI port and plug. No big deal, but it would have been even more flexible to have found a portable monitor with a standard USB-C connection (I have no idea if this exists!).

I gave this 4 stars just because the stands that go with these are no longer made ( Asus sales confirmed ) - you can buy some through Amazon but they turn out to be around $200+ landed to NZ. Admittedly the cover / stand that comes with this is more than adequate and of course less stuff to carry with you so in the end I was glad that I didn't but any. I bought 2 of these so I can have three screens ( laptop + 2 external monitors ) as my laptop has an HDMI and C-type DP port. I'm using a Asus Rog Strix with Linux and had to make a couple of modifications to get all three going but nothing too major in the scheme of things for Linux. My Partner uses Windows and it is plug n play. Pretty happy overall with this monitor. It's not gonna win any awards for picture quality, but neither is it completely unusable. It's basically a standard laptop screen in a stand alone form factor. Which is great. Exactly what I needed. The only issue I have is that I thought it had a battery. It's a non-issue if you're sending picture over USB-C, but if you want to use the HDMI port, you will STILL need a USB-C cable plugged in for power. It's not a huge deal, but I feel this could have been made clearer Oh, also it does come with a decent HDMI to HDMI Mini cable bundled, so you don't strictly need to buy a seperate one

Where this monitor is awesome is being able to get another screen on your laptop from just a single USB-C cable. It’s also very light-weight which makes it easier to transport (even if the case is a little more bulky than needed). Where it falls short is that the stand/cover is awkward to use and not very stable. The colours on the monitor are good enough if you care about business apps but not so good for photos or movies. The other pain is that the HDMI input will only work if the device you’re connecting is set to NTSC mode (NZ devices default to PAL). For me it has a use for the times when I need an extra screen, but not for everything I do.

Good just not as versatile as I'd like
14 June 2022

Perfectly functional decent value. It does what it's supposed to but due to a combination of my inability to get it to work with my desktop and not just my laptop along with my concerns about its durability I felt compelled to return it. I tend to travel heavy with a lot of things packed in my bag and I was worried that this would quickly become a shattered piece of glass amongst my laptops tablets and portable game consoles. Had it worked with my desktop or had it seemed more durable had something to properly protect the screen or was significantly cheaper the value proposition would have tilted towards me keeping it.

Great Portable Screen
31 December 2022

My son's laptop screen stopped working due to a minor drop. The rest of the machine checked out good, so instead of buying a hole new laptop, I thought we could try this screen. I had low-expectations that it would work well, but I was wrong. This is a really good clear screen that fits perfectly between the keyboard and the existing non-working laptop screen. The quality of the panel is well above what he had...its really good, bright and has decent viewing angles. Color is replicated well. This really is a good replacement monitor or a nice portable for those that need a portable second screen. I highly recommend it.

Great second screen on the go!
8 August 2022

Got this to replace my first ZenScreen Go from a few years back that started to have issues (first model with a battery). I appreciate the two inputs now (previous only had USB). The pouch/stand solution is okay. I preferred the magnetic cover from my order unit, but that’s because I always slipped the monitor in my backpack. I saw another unit uses a kickstand, but

Perfect laptop pair
14 October 2022

This portable monitor pairs perfectly with my Microsoft Surface laptop even though it is a 2018 model. All I needed was a mini DP to HDMI adapter. It fits inside my laptop bag making it super easy to transport. I wish it came with longer cables. Yes I could buy some but for the price they should be at least 10 ft. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is the value. I think it is overpriced.

This is the screen I never knew I needed. You cannot beat that the stand is the travel case as well. Holds up on the frost trip and I’m sure it will for many more. Works great for my impromptu dining room table desk. Beautiful screen and doesn’t use much laptop battery when plugged solely into the laptop.
