An Absolute Game Changer

The speed editor has literally changed the game for me! Recently switching from Premiere Pro to Resolve, everything about the software has been so smooth and user friendly. The speed editor has really made everything that much better because instead of having to learn all the new shortcuts on DaVinci. It has everything listed out, works seamlessly, and is particularly useful when editing multi-cam sequencesI do wish Blackmagic would allow creators to create our shortcuts with the speed editorBut overall a great product

BUY THIS NOW-You Won't Regret It. Leave FCP & Premiere Behind-FOREVER!!!!

This is an awesome deal. For the cost of the upgrade license to the full RESOLVE STUDIO, you also get the hardware speed editor. No more hunting for special key strokes for common commands! Be sure to check all of your package contents carefully, since the hardware dongle is in its own box. Also, be sure to download the full RESOLVE STUDIO software first, then whenever launching it, make sure the USB dongle is attached to your computer. Very happy. Awesome customer service from ADORAMA (as usual)!!! Thanks

Best video editing software; far outshines Premier Pro

Upgrading to DaVinci Resolve Studio has revolutionized my video editing work due to its superior stability when rendering projects to output video. Editing is also far easier than Premier Pro and Final Cut, with a more logical work flow. There are a few quirks that are easily overcome. Enables the production of over three hours of 4K videos every week with plenty of visual and audio transitions, and many audio enhancements. The voice isolation feature has saved videos from open mics and background noise. It's great.

Finally editing software without a subscription
17 November 2020

After using Premiere for years a friend asked me to check out Resolve. I'm never going back. The UX is leagues better although it took some time for me to adjust to the switch over. It is far more performant as well when compared to Premiere. I use stabilizing and de-noising on virtually every video I shoot and it's far faster than anything Premiere has. I'm guessing thread handling is better optimized.Downsides are that there are a few bugs within the software, including one that prevents me from using certain headsets (16-bit limited to 16000hz DAC on USB) which causes the program to hang. I had to switch out my headsets back to AUX input. Also, if you have no control surfaces it occasionally hangs looking for one on bootup. It's a great piece of video editing ... MoreAfter using Premiere for years a friend asked me to check out Resolve. Great scrubbing keyboard for Resolve
15 July 2022

The Speed Editor keyboard works great for scrubbing and easy access to basically all of the common editing functions (from the Cut page) you already use in Resolve. It worked well for me out of the box by wired connection, but I did struggle to connect it via bluetooth (to a Mac). A Speed Editor specific manual is hard to come by, but I found the key sequence to reset it online, and after doing so, it immediately showed up in discovered devices on my Mac and works wirelessly now.The magic keys to press simultaneously: CUT + SMTH CUT + SOURCE + TIMELINEEnjoy. :)

It is only 300!!!! It used to cost a million!!!

I am an old. I remember seeing 35mm straight off of a SPIRIT into a 4K DaVinci system. This was many years ago. Grading rooms used to cost a million dollars to set-up (at least). Now you get that same grading power, plus editing, plus Fusion (the Pepsi to Nuke's Coke), and the Fairlight audio page. This costs you 300.00! It also seems, once you buy in, Blackmagic gives you free upgrades. Plus for those annoyed for Adobe's CC, you can claim to own this software. Blackmagic also seems to be listening to its user base much more than the companies that begin with A (Apple, Adobe, AVID) to add improvements, features and of course new codecs (who is coming out with a RAW codec this week?). Great for grading, dailies, cleaning up XMLs and EDLS, transcoding, syncing (Resolve can use timecode or waveform analysis). Resolve is still a bit of a pain with stills. I just did a stills project and Resolve is not a fan. I did just also do a project that a director shot with the new A7RIIIm, the MP4's wouldn't open on the desktop, Resolve was able to read them with-out issue. You should check out what Dado Valentic is doing with Colorlab and how it works with Resolve (I am in no way affiliated with Dado, he is just super smart, knows grading and color science and is doing some quite exciting stuff).

Morning. I am by no means a half decent colourist/editor, so why, with the free version of DV studio, would I pay for the paid version? Firstly it is not a lot in terms of a one off payment, for full functionality.Secondly I am working with VR and needed the ability to export above the 4k free limitAlso, many of the annoying glitches (such as refusing to apply cross fades on short audio clips) with the free version have gone.I have also seen a noticeable improvement in rendering and actual smooth running which I am putting down to the software making better use of my hardware.I will only ever be an amateur editor making very short videos to make our activities more inclusive, but the feedback we have already received makes it all worthwhile.Only irritation ... MoreMorning. The public beta version soon gave way to a propper update which works better still.I would suggest to anyone wanting to get into even basic editing, look at resolve first and work through the black magic beginners tutorials. You tube is great for specifics, and can often fill in the gaps with differing styles, but the tutorials show you what it can do....and its a lot.Be luckyCBA

Software great but Dongle has to stay plugged in
5 January 2022

Software excellent. However couldn't download the Studio Version without using the registration page which wouldn't let me input County from a drop down list that was empty. Ended up going to the US support page to get the software to download. Then it wouldn't install because it told me I had a newer version (the free version) installed already. So after uninstalling the free, installing the Studio version with the dongle plugged in Hey presto!! Unfortunately what I didn't realise was that the dongle is required to use the software all the time so you can't take it out. To me this needs to be pointed out at the start since it's going to take up a USB slot whenever you want to use the software hence only the 4 stars.

Userfriendly DaVinci Resolve 16 Studio (Dongle)
5 July 2020

When I received it, it was in a box. I was looking forward to seeing and using it. After you open the package you will find one SD card and Dongle (it looks like a USB stick but it isn't). On the SD card, there is an installation file. For all of you who don't have an SD card reader, you should get one or use a laptop with an SD card reader and transfer the installation file on the USB so you could install it on your Desktop computer. After the installation is over before you run the software it is important to know that you must insert Dongle into your USB port on your PC.
