Bodum Bistro Electric Coffee Grinder - Black

This grinder is perfect for making french roaster thick chunky grinds, or espresso grinds very fine. You control that more than other non manual machines. It is compact and the charging cord wraps around in the base. I've had it going on about 10 years strong now. The only downside is you can only grind for about 3 cups of espresso at a time. Upside is that your grind is always fresh. Love this machine!

This is my 2nd bodum grinder. My last one lasted 4 1/2 years, until my son started overfilling the chamber and grinding the living hell out of the poor thing. The last time before he burnt out the motor, he must have held down the pin and grinded for 3 minutes straight. I think if he had stopped let it cool down, it would still be working. Anyhow he isn't allowed near any coffee grinder I have now, so this one should last longer. There is a bit of coffee dust if I'm grinding a batch of very dry beans, but it isn't bad. 30 seconds with a brush takes care of the clear plastic cup the metal grinding well. This grinder does a very good job of grinding evenly - just give it shake once in the middle of grinding bursts it will grind the batch uniformly.

Bad upgrade

I bought this to replace my other bodum grinder. The lid design is different and it doesn’t work as well as my other machine. Grounds fly up between the lid and make a mess. They get into the hole where it plugs up. It also doesn’t work most of the time. The button doesn’t work or it gets stuck and won’t stop. Very disappointed with this purchase!

This little coffee grinder is definitely helpful and handy while on the go. It’s very compact and it gets the job done. The cord winds into the base and has a notch to keep the plug in place. It isn’t the ideal grinder to use for getting a fine espresso grind. The beans will start to build up and get compacted along the grinder wall if you grind for more than 9-10 seconds. It’s very inconsistent and will have various sizes amongst the grind if you try to get a fine espresso grind. But as I mentioned it gets the job done. It makes a great grind for the French press and the common countertop percolating brewer. So overall I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a compact coffee grinder or are limited on space. It takes up less space than a coffee mug.

Garbage

Stop working after only 1 month. I’ve only used it roughly 8 times. I was using it to grind up oatmeal for my baby and right when I was about to make another batch it wouldn’t spin and overheated. It even smells like the engine blew. Like burnt plastic. OMG. My baby can’t have her nightly oatmeal bottle because it dosent work. Next time I’m not going to over look reviews from previous customers. I will be returning first thing in the morning.

Perfect starter grinder

This is the first coffee grinder I've ever had, so the lower price point was perfect. My expectations weren't too high, but now that I'm using it I couldn't wish for anything better! I use this every day when I make my morning coffee (which I've never done before) and my coffee tastes amazing with freshly ground beans. It can grind the right amount of beans for about 2-3 cups. The button is super easy to press, so if you have challenges manipulating buttons, this device is perfect. It's also easy to clean - I just wipe the inside out with a dry cloth when I'm done and rinse the cap under some water. The worst grinder I have ever used

It will be a happy day when I am finally able to return this terrible terrible grinder. That red tab you see is what turns on the grinder and it ends in a very small point that has to be perfectly inserted into the hole or the grinder wont turn on. That same hole that instantly fills with grounds. Whoever designed this, never had to use it. If they did, I bet they stopped designing things, because wow, what a terrible experience it was using this thing. I think Im going to need therapy now. :)

Was great while it worked

Our unit worked great for about a couple of months before suddenly not working at all. Not sure what went wrong. There are easily accessible screws on the bottom of the unit, so I tried to open it up to revive it, but doing so just ruins the grinder even more. The lever that actuates the button falls out of place and is impossible to reset back in place. It's almost as if it is purposefully designed to just fall apart as soon as anyone tries to open and examine the internal parts. This is ultimately why I'm giving it 1 star.

Works really well

Love this Bistro coffee grinder! I like the design and color of it (I got the black one), too. It looks really nice on my counter and blends in with the other appliances and things without a problem. I was initially concerned about whether or not it would be loud because some of my other grinders do the job well but tend to make a lot of noise while working, but it turns out that that's not a problem with this one. The sound is not loud or bothersome at all and it grinds well. I was out of coffee beans so I tried it with some whole allspice and it ground it up quickly without a problem using just a few pulses. Not sure who decided to add the little tab on the bottom for the cord but that is very much appreciated so that it stays level on the counter and the cord doesn't get in the way while using. It's so comfortable to use and it just feels like your thumb rests effortlessly where the grinding button is. Very nicely made, looks good and works well. Love it!
