While living with a friend who did not have a food processor or mini-chopper I got used to using his immersion blender chopper attachment (attachable bowl and blade) as a mini chopper. This accessory was as well made and sturdy as the actual stand alone mini-chopper I used to have. This was an old model that they didn't even make anymore. I emailed Cuisinart hoping that they could sell it to me or tell me which blades were compatible so I could buy it on ereplacmentparts.com. Instead, they sent me the part for free, after one email and no questions asked. Needless to say, never buying another Braun product again.

Bought this to replace an immersion blender that broke (different brand). I love it. It's powerful, has adjustable speeds, and because it's not cordless I'll never have to replace a battery. Probably the most important feature is the long conical splash guard, which minimizes the risk of getting burned when blending hot liquids like soup. Just be careful not to scrape your pots with the bottom of the metal guard, because it will leave scratches.
I've been using another brand hand blender every day for the last six years. Its so very loud (bulletproof coffee), and difficult to remember the liquid I'm blending is less than half full in my coffee cup! The first time I tried the Braun blender, I was SO excited to hear such a quiet motor noise! The old one had only one speed...uber turbo! This one has 20+ different speeds and a separate Turbo speed button...perfect! The liquid doesn't go crazy, throwing coffee everywhere, and blends the coconut oil and half and half perfectly! It leaves a great "froth", for MUCH less than store-bought lattes. The instructions/options was pretty confusing - apparently this set didn't come with most of the accessories listed, and you can't tell which accessory might be available ... MoreI've been using another brand hand blender every day for the last six years. The set was very well packaged, great color...but I wish the end of the blender attachment (opposite end from the blade itself) was sealed. The entire piece fills with water while washing..need to remember to pour it all out to avoid molding! (can't see thru the piece). Getting the blender attached to the motor, as well as removing it is a bit of a struggle, but I imagine it will ease up with regular use. I'm just thrilled that I can blend my coffee every morning without the awful noise...and it does a GREAT job combining the ingredients! Happy girl! :)
While Braun has always been a respected company the Multi Quick 5 Vario Hand Blender has a design problem in as much as the recessed buttons that release the tools take too much pressure to make the tools actually release. I also found the unit heavier than was comfortable for me to use with ease. I had a braun hand blender for 17 years that I loved and used all the time until the motor finally gave out! It didn't have all the gadgetry that I find so unnecessary with the newer appliances and electronics these days! Sometimes simple is better!!
I bought this because my prior Braun (bought >15 years ago) gave up in a puff of smoke. This model is more powerful; it blends more quickly and completely. I've pureed soup with the wand and made garlic paste in the mini-processor. More powerful = heavier. This works for me, but it's probably too heavy for my elderly mother.
This little handheld blender/chopper/mixer is absolutely the best one I've ever used. The controls are easy to use, which allows me to choose different speeds for different purposes. If I don't want it to chop my food too finely, the slower speed does a great job without mixing everything into soup. Otherwise, the turbo boos speed can liquify anything. The motor is butter smooth. It just feels better made and superior. I've never had any issues with food being stuck on the sides of the containers. Lastly, cleanup is easy with this particular model. There aren't too many nooks and crannies for foods to get stuck or dried into.
I wanted to love this. I was thrilled with the chopper, it did a great job with almost everything I put into it. However, the blender, which is the most important part of this in my opinion left a bit to be desired. Because of the bell shaped section that covered the blade, the entire unit seemed to keep getting sucked down to the bottom of whatever I was blending and then getting suctioned down in place. With other immersion blenders I have been able to move them easily through the pot of soup I was blending so that larger chunks could get sucked into the blades, but that did not happen with the Braun MultiQuick 5. I had to stop the blender, lift it up and restart it. This makes blending more of a chore. That said, it did an excellent job of blending food that did ... MoreI wanted to love this. This is my second Braun MultiQuick 5 Immersion Hand Blender in less than one year. The first one was returned because of a faulty chopper lid. Thankfully Costco replaced the entire purchase.Now my replacement also has a faulty chopper. This time the pin holding the blade burned through the plastic while I was processing herbs.It is absolutely ridiculous that cheap plastic is used to house a motorized blade!
