The nonstick coating clearly isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do and I wouldn’t be happy with buying another insert if this is what’s going to happen in just a matter of a few uses. Also, I never ever use metal utensils on this pot yet there are clear signs of the nonstick coating flaking off.So what do I do? Bite the bullet and buy a new insert knowing the short-term inevitable or toss this slow cooker and pay for another brand that’s offers something more durable? I expected more from this product and this company. Money is difficult to come by and you would hope a company like Breville who describes itself as an “iconic global brand that enhances people’s lives through thoughtful design and brilliant innovation” would have taken something obvious like the design of an inner pot into consideration for its customers. $300+ and this is the “innovation,” “thoughtful design,” and life enhancement I get? Nope! This overly complex, expensive cooker lasted all of 3 years. I’ve written it off as a waste of money and patience.

Going 8 years strong
11 January 2023

I've had the Fast Slow Pro for over 8 years and it's the MVP in my kitchen. I use it mostly for stews, curries, soups, chilis, and it always turns out fantastic. I've used it for rice too but as I have a separate rice cooker, I usually let the Fast Slow Pro make the main dishes. The design of the cooker is much more clean, sleek, and higher-quality looking compared to other multi-cookers out there. When turning the lid to close/open it, try to be gentle instead of yanking it -- I think that is what caused the wire issue I had.

Great product but had the same issue with the pot liner!
15 February 2022

Really enjoyed this product for the last couple of years, which makes great food. But.....I have the same problem as the previous reviewer regarding the condition of the pot liner, which we've been careful to clean gently after use. I also saw that the latest model is now stainless steel rather than "non stick", which suggests a design change. I would also be interested in a retrofit solution or at least spare part availability. I just checked the Breville website for spare parts and this is no longer available.I don't think that it unreasonable to expect relatively expensive products to last more than a couple of years both in terms of financial and environmental cost. Lid never stays open to sautĂ© or reduce now does not turn at all. Disappointed it’s now useless.
5 June 2023

I love this appliance but have always had to prop open the lid against something because it would just turn causing an error and it shutting off whenever using the sautĂ©,reduce or other modes that weren’t pressure or slow cooking. Now I cannot even get the lid to turn at all, I tried removing the lid as I do for cleaning but it will not turn one e installed and is now useless. The interior surface of the insert Could also be improved upon it wears super easily and is difficult to clean. For a high end pressure cooker I expected it to last !

Lid not closed issue terrible
1 June 2022

Been using for a few years and as some have mentioned possibly better with stainless bowl but not sure if food would stick? The lid seal issue is a shocker. Does not matter how careful you are aligning the vent the fault still pops up randomly. Sometimes we get it to go first time and others spend an hour mucking around opening and shutting the lid until it will go through cycle. I purchased 2 of these a few years ago (one as a gift) and despite changing mine over the exchange unit does the same. The other one has the same issue. Be good it wasn’t for the lid close issue. Don’t normally post reviews but seen plenty of others have the same problem and thought I would share my experience. People with multi cookers half the price have no problems. NOT happy
20 December 2022

My daughters bought this as a gift for me June 2020. We lived overseas for over 12 months, so the cooker remained here in Australia whilst we travelled. Since being back, I've used the slow cooker no more than 6 times, the Pressure cooker once (just to try it out, I was impressed) and hadn't used the rice cooker function at all. Just went to use it recently, to sear protein before slow cooking, and the heat just stopped whilst in the searing function. Tried all other functions to test heating, nothing. Yes, it was out of the 12 month warranty, however, like I said, it had barely been used. It was like brand new!! I would expect more, it's not like it was a $100 item. Not happy

Surprisingly Poor Construction Quality for Breville

I purchased this product through Amazon in January. I have used it often since I have had it. The lid doesn’t shut when trying to pressure cook very reliable. It will start preheating, then come back and state that the lid isn’t shut. You can line the lid as it says on the lid but it might take 2-3 times to actuallt get the seal that its expecting after it’s preheated. This requires you to start the process all over and preheat again before finding out if the lid is shut correctly. I have used the Pressure Cooking despite the issues with the locking correctly. The teflon has begun to flake off recently. It leaves me with the choices to remove the Teflon from the pan or buy a new pan for $29.95. I own many different Breville product that all seem to be extraordinary pieces of machinery, but unfortunately, this does not meet the same quality standards in my opinion of the other products Breville makes. I am a firm believer in the Breville product line, but would not consider suggesting to anyone to purchase their pressure cooker. I think I would just state that I’m happy with bravo, but I’m not as happy with their pressure cooker as I should be but it is a usable product. Someone might need to look into what we need to be done to replaced up the pot without having to buy the same one over and over and over because it doesn’t last because it’s Teflon is not applied in a way that it won’t flake off it would’ve been much better if Breville had made a stainless steel pot to go in their pressure cooker or at least gave an option to buy a stainless steel pot to go in the pressure cooker after market. I really have a hard time rating any Breville product poor, but this would be the one that would deserve a poor rating even though I would rate it 2-3 stars if 1 star didn’t indicate poor, because I really like this product outside the two issues that I have stated.

The Fast Slow Pro is incredible, but unfortunately possesses one perilous flaw
18 September 2021

First and foremost, I adore Breville products. As a doctor of engineering myself, I appreciate how well engineered Breville's appliances are. And for the most part the Fast Slow Pro is amazing. It's extremely well designed, in terms of both function and aesthetics, and has performed supremely well in the several times that we've used it during the week that we've owned it. It has one major design flaw, however, which regrettably prohibits me from giving it a 5-star rating: point #9 on page 22 of its manual says that it will warn the user if the lid is locked when operated in steam mode. But it doesn't. I called Breville support about this when I tested my first Fast Slow Pro upon its arrival and I was told to exchange it, which I did, but its replacement (which I ... MoreFirst and foremost, I adore Breville products. But it doesn't. I called Breville support about this when I tested my first Fast Slow Pro upon its arrival and I was told to exchange it, which I did, but its replacement (which I kept) also has this design flaw. And, speaking as an engineer, this isn't a minor point, because I demonstrated to Breville support that if the user locks the lid and fails to open the pressure release valve then the Fast Slow Pro will build pressure in steam mode, which naturally raises the steaming temperature and affects the cooking results. MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOWEVER, the Fast Slow Pro's pressure release valve isn't programmed to release pressure in steam mode, and thus it depends upon the pressure safety valve to release pressure and prevent the Fast Slow Pro from exploding like a bomb (that's no exaggeration - pressure cookers are often used by terrorists to create bombs. Recall the Boston Marathon bombers). Future revisions of the Fast Slow Pro need to correct this shortcoming. Furthermore, I would very much like Breville to revise future versions of the Fast Slow Pro to also warn the user to open the pressure release valve, in addition to not locking the lid, when in steam mode, sear mode, etc.
