Could only use on lowest setting without burning - this is with sliced supermarket bread. Toasts each side unequally so have to flip over and use the 30s button, but this was not totally unexpected as previous Kambrook also did this. On the plus side. Looks good, feels fairly robust with a nice action. One rather BIG negative is that yesterday, 3 months after purchase, it tripped all the fuses in the apartment, as well as the one in the electrical cupboard for our floor, which the concierge had to reset. Toast popped up at the same time but don't know if this was the cause or caused by the electricity cutting out. Anyway, can't risk that happening again as concierge will not be too pleased being called up again so went out and bought another Kambrook. So far it is a fantastic toaster. The long slots are perfect for home-made bread because I don't have to cut it to fit a standard 2 slice toaster. The slots are self-centering and the white exterior is cool to the touch. It toasts evenly, and it is easy to remove the crumbs with the pull out tray.

Our old toaster died at 2.5 years old, had a 3-year warranty, so all good, we got a refund and purchased the same one. Replacement died at 2 years, 2 months. The warranty had been shortened to 2 years on the new one. I took it apart and discovered the part that failed was engineered to do so. They used a nichrome wire crimped to a copper terminal, so it corroded after being exposed to normal air for a few years then went pop once it was thin enough. Both toasters failed the same way (one side of the heater died first, then the other a few weeks later). They change the model number every year to keep reviews positive, and have now shortened the warranty to 1 year as well. Won’t be buying another Breville product again.

We upgraded from a cheapo toaster we had for at least 5 years. We were used to uneven, burnt toast and a lucky dip on how burnt it would be. So we are loving our new Breville toaster and we have a new desire to eat toast regularly!I was nervous about the size of a 4-slice toaster as our bench space is small, however the footprint of this toaster is as small as a 4-slice could be and it actually fits well. Love the lift-n-look feature so we can tailor how golden we want our toast based on our feelings on the day.I haven't had to clean it yet, but I know it has a slide-out tray and no toaster could ever be perfect for cleaning as crumbs make their way into everything no matter what you do.Enjoying that it matches with our new kettle, and the basic white allows it ... MoreWe upgraded from a cheapo toaster we had for at least 5 years. We have only used regular bread and have not needed to toast from frozen.I would definitely purchase again. Breville is proving a great brand for most kitchen appliances, as I am liking our new Breville kettle and I am in LOVE with their The Boss Blender (which I have put through the wringer nearly every night for the last year).
This is not a great toaster. It burns very quickly so we have to have it on the smallest setting. But then it is inconsistent. The second toasting always burns even though it has been on the same settings as the first lot of toasting. Very frustrating.
Well obviously their toasters aren't made as good 2day as alot of things aren't like 10+ years ago.. I have 4 slice extra lift toaster I bought about 10 years ago.. still going strong..except the plastic housing is a bit on the weary side with melt spots all around it..due to being plastic of course..otherwise still goes great.. obviously due for a new one..lol.. but I don't have toast as much as I used to...my border does though.. here's a pic. . and yes the crumb tray is at the bottom pull out on the left.. not as another reviewer said it's in a different location.. but hats off to the inventors of breville 10+ years ago..
Long openings perfect if you make your own large loaves. Double or normal 4-piece toasters cannot cope with large homemade loaves. This is the second one we have had and the only criticism is like all modern appliances they seem to design in obsolescence, so they only last a couple of years.
I like the design which allows longer slices of bread and also fits better into my kitchen where I have cupboard depth but not width.Initial impressions were good and it toasted evenly, however after 3 weeks the inner element has stopped working so now only toasts one side.Hassle to take it back to the store to arrange refund/replacement.My previous Sunbeam toaster was also replaced under warranty and even after that kept failing. Is it so difficult to make small electric appliances last?
Great toaster. This is our 2nd, as the first one broke when the ‘hold down’ lever failed to keep the toast down. Love the simplicity and functionality of this toaster. Can toast a variety of thicknesses and lengths of toast. Great for home made bread too.
We had the 2 slice version of this toaster and loved it. It lasted over 12yrs!! Now with a growing family we thought it was time to upgrade to the 4 slice model. We love the fact that we can fit all different sized slices of bread due to the extra long slot size. Cooks perfectly every time.
