I bought it last week and I spent the whole weekend making Neapolitan style pizzas with it that are arguably better than what we get at the AVPN-certified restaurant near us. But because this oven is so small, there's not a lot of margin for error when launching your pizza into the oven, even when you consider the nice rounded backstop. I can only imagine the mess I would have made in this oven if I tried using it my first time making a pizza. So my recommendation is to spend at least a few weekends making pizza on a big pizza stone in your home oven first so you can get some confidence in launching a pizza into the oven.Long story short, if you're looking to level up your Neapolitan pizza game, I recommend this oven. It's amazing.

I am not embellishing when I tell you that I haven’t seen anything remotely like this oven. The only downside is that the oven will smoke if there is any residue left in the oven at all. But you still have to press the knob in to actually start the timer. I’ve tried four different settings and the pizzas are flawless. I’ve also used the included carbon steel pan after seasoning it. Don’t skip the seasoning process before the initial use. My best cooking advice is to never forget the mix of semolina flour and bread flour on the peel (learn this word and you will certainly become a person of mystery and intrigue, at least to everyone who comes over for dinner. Less is more when it comes to both the amount of dough and crushed tomatoes. I recommend San Marzano tomatoes with a hand blender otherwise they will turn pink in a regular blender. Remember to dry your fresh mozzarella with a paper towel. Don’t skimp on the ingredients but you can save by buying them at a warehouse club. I remove the stone before I use the oven and wipe it with a damp paper towel. Soap would get into the stone so avoid using it. Once the stone is removed, I sometimes carefully spray Easy Off to clean the oven without spraying the heating elements. This helps minimize any smoke from residue in the oven. Occasionally, you may see flames inside the oven if there’s any residue. I shut the oven off as soon as my pizza finishes cooking to minimize any issues. Remember oxygen feeds fire so try not to leave the door open if you see flames. They will go out once the oven is off. The peel that comes with the oven is an amazing tool. Lightly jiggle the pizza dough once you have it on the peel before adding the ingredients to the dough to make sure that the pizza will slide onto the stone. Take no more than 5 minutes to build the pizza once the dough is on the peel. Otherwise the dough may stick and you will have an epic mess on your hands with enough billowing smoke to send you running to the nearest smoke detector as you comically wave a dish towel over your head. Of course those closest to you will try to capture the entire humiliating ordeal on video. Despite all this, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without the Breville Pizzaiolo all these years. Buon appetito!

Amazing all-electric pizza!

Extremely impressed with this 'wood-fired' pizza. Still experimenting with what it can do but it's already exceeded expectations. I was just after a better pizza than our normal oven can achieve, but this is phenomenal. It's fast, it's simple, convenient.. all the good things that an actual wood fire would never be.Better still, it does this without the climate or health issues of wood burning (as we're 100% self sufficient with solar and batteries). Plus making them at home saves on delivery carbon. There is some smoke, so we use it outdoors but it's a really nice way to cook pizza, which we do approximately once a week, and it doesn't even use that much electricity so doesn't kill our battery. Strong recommend for people who want to make their own pizza.

I JUST bought this oven 5 days ago and my stone cracked in half while I was cooking a pizza. I never wiped it with a damp cloth or put it near any water. I only scraped it VERY gently with my dough card to get the burnt residue off after the entire oven cooled off overnight. That was it! I was so disappointed after spending this much money on the pizzaiolo. I know that in general, pizza stones are not unbreakable like steel. But if this has the possibility to happen to customers, I should be able to reach their customer service to ask for a replacement or figure out a way to get a new stone. I can't reach anyone over the phone because the recording says their office is closed. I opened a case but I don't know how long it will take for them to get back to me. We thought we were making great pizza in our regular oven with a pizza steel, but this pizzaiolo looked intriguing. It could get much hotter than our convection oven, and it directly heated the stone under the pizza. Well, guess what was under the Christmas tree this year. We recently tried it out, and it made amazingly good pizza, much better and with less fuss and bother than with our convection oven.We've been making pizza for a while, so we used our usual recipe from the Chez Panisse Pizza Cookbook. That should give you an idea of how long we have been making pizza. This dough contains a bit of rye flour, some olive oil, and some heavy cream along with the pizza flour, yeast, water and salt. Based on our experience, if you already have a favorite dough recipe, it will work even better with this pizzaiolo.We tried out the wood fired mode. We figured we might as well go for some serious heat. It cooked a pizza in two minutes. The crust was crusty, chewy and lightly browned. We were worried that our toppings - prosciutto, caramelized onions, asparagus, squash - might burn, but they just cooked properly. The pizzaiolo heated up in fifteen minutes and reheated quickly for pizza after pizza.

On the advice of a friend, my Wife bought the Pizzaiolo for me as a 60th birthday present. At the time I was pizza-curious, but this unexpected gift made me pizza-passionate! All the hype is true; the Pizzaiolo is fantastic and the next best thing to a real pizza oven. I've had mine for two years now with 0.00% issues and 100% perfectly cooked pizza.I cook for myself and probably average two pizzas a week. I usually alternate between Thin Crust and Wood Fired settings, right now I'm on a Thin Crust kick. The learning curve was all on the prep side. It took awhile for me to get proficient with throwing a thin crust, and coming up with the right sauce and cheese blend. I cannot overstate this enough. The different pizza settings are exactly what they say they are. It's surprisingly accurate and shockingly fast.The Pizzaolio oven is built like a tank! It is heavy and supremely well-insulated. The controls couldn't be simpler. I've never broken a Breville pizza stone in over two years of regular use. I rarely clean the pizza stone, and when I do, I just wipe it down with a damp cloth - I never submerge it in water. The high cooking temperatures will carbonize any residue in the oven, so the Pizzaolio is somewhat self-cleaning. A wipe down is usually all the cleaning thats required.The Pizzaolio oven has added a new dimension to cooking at home. There are so many different ingredients to try! I have even successfully cooked a delicious dessert pizza with Nutella and marshmallows and a chocolate chip stuffed crust around the edges! It cooks so fast, it's great for a party where everyone can have their own personal pizzas within minutes.The price may be off-putting, but from my two-year vantage point, I love and use it so much, it now seems like a bargain and a no-brainer. There is nothing else quite like it.

Wow, this is a really powerful little oven! It does exactly as it says, and that is to come up to a pizza level temp of up to 400C. I even found it a bit too hot at its highest setting and use a lower setting sometimes. Its quite amazing to have a domestic type oven in the home that will produce these sort of temperatures for perfect pizza baking. It is by all standards, a smaller version of a commercial pizza deck oven. Its so convenient to use and the pizzas are awesome. By comparison, I have a wood fire outdoor oven - but this Breville Pizzaiolo oven completely negates the task of firing up the outdoor oven for a few hours and feeding it with copious firewood - that's a lot of effort for just a couple of pizzas. I finally bought the Pizzaiolo Pizza Oven after looking at it for over 2 years. I had hesitated due to the pizza stone issues, as well as the price and finally made the decision on the last day of the sale to order. I use the dough recipe for Roberta’s in Brooklyn that was printed in The NY Times, which I’ve been using for the last year to bake pizza in my regular oven. This oven is an absolute game-changer. The difference is like night and day. Baking pizza in my regular oven, it’s like, ok, not bad for home baked but won’t replace ordering from a local pizza shop. Making pizza in the Pizzaiolo Oven on the wood-fired setting, the pizza is as good or better than I would get from anyplace in my area and I’m in no rush to eat anyone else’s pizza except my own. This is not a tiny appliance and would take up a good amount of counter space. So far, we’ve made Margherita, Plain Cheese, and Cheese with Pepperoni pizzas. Absolutely delicious! I’ve used it 3 times, making 6 pizzas so far and I can’t wait until the next time I use it. If you’re hesitating, take it from me, with good dough and ingredients, you can’t go wrong. I will admit though my husband does the shaping and baking as he worked in a pizza shop as a teenager many years ago and has not forgotten the process. I did shape and bake the first two and they looked nowhere near as nice as those in the pictures I’ve included. I have not yet used to roast vegetables, though I plan to.
