One of the only scents that makes me want to take a deep breath of it all day long. I want all my clothes to smell like this. It starts very leathery to me (even though that’s a base note) with enchanting notes of peony and plum. I would not at all call this a fruity floral, but the peach, plum, peony, and violet all contribute to a well rounded, very soft scent. Almost like you’ve placed a basket of freshly picked, very ripe stone fruits and darker florals in a room full of leather books. It dries down to a “skin but so much better” scent, with the vanilla coming through without being sweet at all, and the patchouli making it sexy without being overwhelming. Byredo Bibliothèque is a beautifully cozy and sophisticated fragrance that feels like stepping into a vintage library. It opens with a sweet blend of peach and plum, followed by soft florals like violet and peony. The rich base of leather, patchouli, and vanilla adds warmth and depth, creating a comforting, luxurious scent. However, the longevity isn't great—it tends to fade after a few hours. Despite that, it's perfect for cooler weather or when you're in the mood for something deep and atmospheric.

I have been using this for two years now and I love it. I initially bought it through research online and struck lucky. The thought of patchouli, leather, violet and talc, layered up, all vying for my attention, was very attractive and it works. Pretentious as it sounds, there is also something rather lingeringly mysterious about it, of which I never tire. It is bold, to be sure, quite a powerful signature scent, but if it works for you in its description defying, endearingly dusty, idiosyncratic nature then I cant see you growing out of it any time soon.

I get the boozy jam note other reviewers mentioned, and the opening is similar to JM's Velvet Rose and Oud (for a few seconds). Then it becomes a very powerful sweet scent for about half an hour, before it calms down to a smoky, milky skin scent.It's certainly unusual. Despite the intense sweetness at the beginning, I cannot imagine this on a teenage girl; I'm in my early twenties and I barely get away with it. I imagine this perfume will change wildly with the seasons or depending on your skin chemistry. If you are looking for a safe, functional, every day perfume then you definitely need to test this first. It's not your typical power-house workday perfume, but could make for a striking signature if you can pull it off! I usually think of perfumes such as these as more artistic concepts, like unusually cut clothes and bizarre jewellery that look breath-taking, but you're not sure if you personally can wear it!It doesn't smell like a library (while we can enjoy the smell of old books and wood varnish, it's probably not what we want to smell on ourselves or other humans), but it does conjure up the aesthetic of a well-read, scholarly woman who wears romantic blouses and pleated trousers, keeps her hair styled in an artfully messy up-do, carelessly applies flawless red lipstick... She probably smokes as well. But this is my impression, and as this strikes me as such a changeable fragrance, I would be fascinated as to how it develops on other women and men!Definitely not a safe blind buy, but in this case my gamble paid off! The dry down on me is subtle, but casually powerful. After three spritzes (both wrists and neck) yesterday morning, I was still cocooned in sultry softness when I woke up today.

I got this yesterday in store and wanted a change from Gypsy Water. I tried several different ones and absolutely loved this one. Soft fruity top notes but dries down to a feminine sweet fragrance. It reminds me of a perfume I had years ago called Femme by Rochas so I think it's the patchouli, vanilla and musk that comes through.Really loved it.

Incredible scent! Rather unique and not too strong. I think it’s one of those scents that is versatile for different people. On myself I pull more of the plum and leather whilst on my sister it pulls more violet, vanilla and patchouli. Longevity is pretty good. I would say it isn't the most unique scent in terms of being reminiscent of scents I have smelled before. For example, this reminds me of dark rum from malin

Love this fragrance

Byredo is a creative unique take on scent experiences. Nice fruity fragrance at first, not too fruity, just right, perfect for unisex, dry down is woody, slight musk, not much vanilla. This reminds me of a softer more rounded Coco Chanel fragrance. Really smells nice, clean, fresh but mostly a winter fragrance but may be my signature scent. Patchouli is not too strong but definitely there. Don't be worried as this should have much appeal if not mass appeal. As the day goes on it gets more woody and musky, well balanced. Lasts for a long time, like easy 12 hours on me, even overnight. My wife loves it too. Doesn't really remind me of a library but still a great fragrance. Would recommend for a niche starter.

dried fruit and leather

i was very excited for this product, i had actually been looking forward to its arrival all week! unfortunately instead of the soft musky leather with delicate fruit notes i was expecting it to be got a very deep, astringent fruity leather. it’s not for me, but i can recognize a great leather scent when i find one, and this definitely fits the bill! it’s a bit too heady and rich for my liking so i didn’t end up keeping it — but if you like deep, dark fruits with warm leather then this is the perfect fragrance for you!

stunning scent

I absolutely love the scent when u first spray it it has a very woody note but once it dries its quite vanillary and sweet. However, it is a very risky one to blind buy so i do suggest going in store to smell it first rather than rely on reviews. But overall its one of my favourite perfumes and absolutely love the unique scent.
