I bought this from CEX a month ago, not having too much expectations as I have always bought from specialist photography firms.To my surprise, tye lens was delivered much sooner than expected abd the item arrived in prist8ne condition. The only think I could say is that. Ripped cardboard strings where prehaps not the best thing to package a photgraphy lens in, given the fibres but at least it it have a front and back lens cap in place.Would buy photographer gear from CEX again ?Most definitely

What a great company!! Top quality and a sense of fun. Been renting from them for years and consistently great! They even have support for us common folk renting the Ferrari’s of camera gear!! Can’t say enough positive about LensRentals.Loved my Cannon 85mm f1.8 for a men’s gymnastics meet. Dim light, fast action, with limited shooting area from the spectator areas. Fantastic shots. I was pleased, the boys were pleased and other family members loved the shots.I read the tips for this lens before hand and it was right. It took some getting used to with the tight parameters of this awesome lens but once you get the feel for the settings, they turn out great!! This lens was able to stop the motion while letting the light in!!!!

As for the Canon 85mm f/1.8, it is also awesome! I decided it was a must have, so a keeper it became! Yay! I use this lens on a 6D, and it's my new favorite lens. My first impression was great, it feels solid and has a huge piece of glass up front, but it's also compact. I was instantly at home with it; the working distance is ideal for me when I'm shooting people, and I couldn't be happier with the image quality I get with it.I was very happy with how fast it autofocuses. It's easily sharp enough for my uses wide open and you can really throw the background out of focus with a little planning, and by F4 or so, the subject is quite sharp.The depth of field can be pretty narrow, so I have to be careful to make sure entire faces are in focus when I'm at F1.8.I have seen some of the purple fringing people sometimes mention in reviews, but there are a lot of ways to ... MoreI use this lens on a 6D, and it's my new favorite lens. The filters are handy even if you just put on the UV one to protect the glass, the cleaning kit is really decent quality and small enough to just keep in the bag, and it's great to have a third party hood since this lens doesn't come with one from the factory. I didn't expect much from the accessories and was pleasantly surprised with all of them.All in all, an outstanding value.
I love this lens. I think it is excellent quality for the price. Arrives v quickly and well packed. The lens is in excellent condition. I am just starting out my photography journey and this equipment is great quality prime lens to start with. I use it mainly for portraits, but you can also do some nice landscapes with it. It gives this nice blurred background while keeping the subject sharp. Definitely recommend.
Lens came in several layers of packaging that was practical to bring with me on shoots! Photos and video were super crisp, but I did have several errors with the lens making connection to my camera shutter sensor at some pretty key moments in my use, causing me to have to switch lenses. I would say it was my camera but other lenses worked fine in the moment. Otherwise a great experience
Nice clean lens with caps and UV filter. I already have 'polarizer' and warm-soft 58 mm screw on glass filters for it. It auto focuses like brand new on my Canon 5-D Mark II camera body. Nice addition to my EF lens collection. good deal. 5 stars. thanks.
Purchased this lens and was amazed the condition of the lens. Literally almost brand new, no dust, no haze, no fungus. A1 condition optically and cosmetically. Now here’s the real truth, I posted several portraits of my girlfriend using this lens and posted them on social media. Got 4 booking for paid assignments just by using this lens. My first ever booking. The sharpness and Bokah is out of this world. I can’t stress how amazing this lens is stepped down to f2.8. It’s a steal for the price that I got it from CEX. Thank you guys, will always buy from CEX not only for the amazing two year warranty but they are a wonderful service every time I purchase from them.

I don't have much experience with many different types of camera lenses. I'm now interested in portrait photography.For my lens review, I'll say that I'm in the process of getting used to this new 85mm lens; I'm working with still-life portraits as a starting point before I take portraits of people. Im using a stuffed rabbit as my portrait subject. Purchased this as a replacement of a 5 year old same lens that got trashed on a recent photo shoot. I immediately tested it and found it acceptable so I competed the registration card. A few days later while performing my normal pre shoot maintenance I found it to be extremely dusty between the inaccessible front and rear element groups. This lens is not an L lens and therefore is not weather or dust sealed. The dust doesn't seem to affect photo quality but it is unexpected. And since I competed the registration card the lens was no longer returnable.
