My wife and I will meet my borther and his wife in Jackson Hole in about three weeks for a vacation of fun, laughs, food, wine and a Great Environment. We are staying at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park - one of my favorite places. On the first full day, we are all taking a private tour of Yellowstone. My five and I did this once before but for my brother and sister in law, this will be their first. If you have read this far, this trim is the reason for the EF-M 55-200mm. I travel without encumbrance of family to wild and scenic places on landscape photo workshops. On those trips, I shoot an EOS 5D MKIII with big, heavy L lenses. And I use good Induro tripods. I also use the 5D for shooting Friday night highschool football for our local weekly newspaper with my 70-200. So far the EF-M 55-200 (the a crop factor multiplier equal to full frame 88-320) has been a joy to use. It is primarily constructed on the exterior of carbon fiber. The lens mount is carbon fiber. Some may not think that is a good construction but this compact lens feels tight and exudes quality. The zoom is a twist ring pumper that feels precise and holds in intermediate places. The image stabilization is amazing. It gives a 3.5 to 4 stop hand holding ability that can be switched off in the software for tripod shooting. It's has a slow variable maximum aperture but seems very sharp with great color contrast. This little lens has produced excellent image quality on my first generation M. Focus with the STM drive is quick and accurate. There is no hunting. It snaps into focus or just can't focus due to low light. The original M is maligned for its focus properties, but with this lens and the great EF-M 22mm, I find focus properties OK and any fault is not the fault of the EF-M 55-200. Lastly, the size of this lens is just ridiculous for its performance. It's small and light. I hope to shoot some of the animals about the Tetons.

I have not had my M50 camera for long and I've had this lens for an even shorter time. However both have proved to have an excellent performance even compared to my Canon 60D. The lens in particular appears to be superior to the equivalent EF-S lens despite being more compact and lighter. Very impressed indeed.

I purchased this lens for my Canon EOS M6 Mark II camera. The photos are sharp and show no achromatic aberration. I had to wait months to purchase it because it was out of stock. Hopefully, production and part acquisition will catch up for others to be able enjoy this lens. Now I have the three lenses that cover my needs on a compact camera: 11 - 22mm, 15 - 45mm and this one, 55 - 200mm.

Have purchased and owned many mid-level cameras from B&H over the years (35). This Canon and lens, along with a couple other lens purchased with this are producing some really great pictures. Have spend more dollars in the past on camera & lens systems, but in all anhosty, this system is just plain cool!
This Canon EOS M50 Mark ii is literally the most advanced camera I have ever owned and used. There is a learning curve for me, I find this camera quite challenging, but in a superb way. I have gained more knowledge about photography and videography than I have before. Every day that I use this camera, I am encouraged to study a new function or feature to help me accomplish my next photography or videography gig. I know this camera will take me a while to master, but that is what photography is all about, setting goals and accomplishing them, and I believe this golden camera will be the catalyst in my new career.Pros:This Mark ii allows me to move forward, it gives me the tools I need when I need them.It is a fun camera to operate.Being able to shoot still ... I know this camera will take me a while to master, but that is what photography is all about, setting goals and accomplishing them, and I believe this golden camera will be the catalyst in my new career.Pros:This Mark ii allows me to move forward, it gives me the tools I need when I need them.It is a fun camera to operate.Being able to shoot still pictures and videos all in one camera is remarkable. This M50 is great for beginners and intermediate photographers or videographers. It bridges the gap between beginner to advanced. It offers the functions to accommodate my needs quickly, and accurately in a moment's notice, it's confidence inspiring.I find that the extensive menu gives me the power to easily adjust for external variables, i.e., lighting, depth, blur, effects, JPEG, raw etc. It takes out the guess work. With the plethora of functions, menus, manuals, and videos there is no limit to what I can do with it.Having a preview of the images is satisfying, to know how the image is going to turn out once it has been taken, it is a time saver and an assurance builder. The focus functions with the different colors makes focusing a breeze. The autofocus is a lifesaver for people who are visually challenged. The assortment of options available under autofocus. i.e., tracking, zone, point, and spot, makes autofocus simple to operate and accurate.Cons:Need to make the battery and memory card compartment "white" so I can see where to put them in their slots.On-line manual, sometimes tells where the button or function is but doesn't always define what its purpose is. Only have seen this about three times. My solution was to search the web, read an article or watch a video.Occasionally, when not looking, it is hard to find the buttons on the body, i.e., menu, info, M-fn, video on-off buttons.Don't understand why the camera won't shoot a shot. I will be looking through the viewfinder, press the shutter button, then, nothing. Next, I will look at the screen and check the focus, FPS, ISO and they look fine. I press the button and nothing. Then something changes, I don't perceive what, and spontaneously, as if nothing happened, it works again. This doesn't occur every day, just once in a while. It leaves me stumped.
Tested this lens on an M6 II. Sharp and clean image is first thing noticed. Less than 4x zoom and has some size, so the light-tunnel isn't too narrow. Reasonably shallow DOF; Image stabilization works. Has the kind of reach one hopes for in a medium telephoto.
I spent a good amount of time with B&H personnel trying to determine what is the best camera for me. The gentleman was extremely helpful and provided several suggestions. The best part was the offering of pro's and con's of each. They were open and honest. The camera is amazing. I do have a little difficulty in getting the focusing just right however it is, probably, due to the first time using a mirrorless camera. That being said, the fit, function and overall operation of the camera is excellent.
This camera is small feels cheap and not user friendly. I have Been taking pictures over 35 years with canon products starting with the canon AE-1 35mm. The lenses are super small and not interchangeable with the EOS canons. This is how canon makes their money. Buy a mirrorless and you need to buy all specialty lenses too. QVC should eliminate these small toy cameras. The EOS t series are so much better. I’ve had the 35 mm EOS t5 and t3. All quality cameras like the AE-1. I’ll have to read the manual on how to use. Ridiculous price for this toy camera. Once I use It if I don't rerun it I’ll leave another review
I bought this with my M50 as part of the kit which included this 55-200 and the 15-45mm lens. Both are excellent, but the 55-200mm is my favorite. I love wildlife and landscape photography and have been really surprised by this lens over the last few weeks. Auto focus is very fast and accurate and I am getting much clearer pictures than from my previous setup. The clarity, features, and lightweight make this so easy to carry for longer excursions that I find myself leaving this one on more than the 15-45 in most situations I'm in. I even tried some photos of the moon last week with it and although small because of the lack of reach, they did come out extremely clear and bright once I found the correct settings for my location and the atmosphere. Taking my kids to the japanese gardens last weekend also produced perfectly focussed pictures. I'm honestly a bit shocked canon has been able to get this kind of clarity and quality from plastic bodied lenses that are so small and relatively affordable. I'm extremely happy with my entire setup now, and highly recommend the 55-200mm.
This lense is everything I hoped it would be. It’s light, and the photos are crisp and clear with the perfect amount of zoom that I needed. Let me tell you about the service I received from B&C Camera though. Their website showed the lense was in stock, but I called to confirm prior to placing my order. They stated they had two in stock, so I immediately ordered it since this particular lense is hard to find. They shipped it out the same day, and I received it a couple of days later. I could not be more pleased with the product or the service. Thank you, B&C Camera!
