Claim £90 Cashback - Ends 31.8.17 The EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is designed exclusively for use with EOS cameras featuring an EF-S lens mount. High quality optics The EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS features a 16 element, 12 group construction. This includes UD and aspherical lens elements, which minimise chromatic aberration and ensure crisp, corner-to-corner detail across the zoom range. A close focusing distance of just 45cm offers photographers total framing flexibility. 4-stop Image Stabilizer A Canon 4-stop optical Image Stabilizer specially designed for the lens specific focal length range - works to counteract image blur that can occur when shooting handheld, or at slow shutter speeds. Automatic panning detection ensures effective performance when tracking moving subjects. Plus, because the IS system is based in the lens, results are visible through the viewfinder during framing. No flare or ghosting Reflection off a digital cameras image sensor can cause flare and ghosting. To suppress this, the EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS uses optics treated with Canons patented Super Spectra coatings for crisp, undistorted images with natural colour balance.

I've been a Canon user for over two decades and really like their glass quality and quality of buid. BUT! This time I tried using this very good lens on my Sony A7 ii....had to use an adaptor of course and really hoped to be able to wed the two successfully. Unfortunately it just did not work well. This is not the fault of the lens or the camera, it's just not a good idea to "blend" in all cases. I do a lot of hummingbird shooting and I need a lens that will focus RIGHT NOW. This combo did not allow that to happen. The Lens "hopped" back and forth from extreme close to moderately close every time I tried to take a shot so I had to give up on the idea and stick with Sony-to-Sony, probably for the best. I really hated to send this fine lens back...but that's the way ... MoreI've been a Canon user for over two decades and really like their glass quality and quality of buid. BUT! Frankly, if I were to decide to go back to a Canon camera, which I considered, I would have kept this lens over the one I sold, a 100-400 "L". (I am seeking to go lighter equipment-wise). My advise re. this lens, it's a top-of-the-line piece of equipment and if you can't afford an "L", or if, like me, you want to go lighter and still want top quality, this is the lens for you.

Excellent lens for the casual or even serious amateur photographer that doesn't want to carry a large camera bag around for those times when you want to have your camera with you but just don't know what you want to shoot. As another reviewer wrote, yes, there are better lenses out there which cost a lot more, but unless you make your living from photography, there really is no need to spend several thousand dollars when several hundreds gets you something that will give you very respectable results. And remember, its not the equipment that makes a good image, its the person taking the picture. My personal reason for using/liking this lens is that I do a lot of salt water sailing regattas and fortunately usually am in very close proximity to the boats. This lens is ... My personal reason for using/liking this lens is that I do a lot of salt water sailing regattas and fortunately usually am in very close proximity to the boats. This lens is perfectly suited for this specific situation. One lens covers almost everything (I do carry Canon's inexpensive 75-300mm just in case I need that extra range). And if the lens does get damaged, I haven't lost a lot of money. (Ditto for the 75-300). As for the images, the only negative with the particular lens that I have is that at the shorter focal lengths, say below 25mm, vignetting becomes apparent. Generally this is not a problem, as I'm shooting wider to counteract boat movement and crop down afterwards. And as others have noted, this is NOT a light weight lens. After 8 hours of taking photos, it does get heavy. Again, great all purpose lens that won't bankrupt you.

Since badly damaging a similar lens a few years ago, and finding my trusty Canons a shade heavy for carrying all day, I had resorted to a small bridge camera, but didn't get on with it. So I decided to tolerate the weight issue and acquire the 18 - 200 for use with my Canon EOS 700D. Results, perfect. Has restored my enthusiasm for photography. Am now experimenting with close ups in addition to using the zoom to its full extent. A very versatile lens.
Lensrentals is just the best! The order was shipped on time, was a great value, and allowed me to evaluate a new lens that I will buy in the future without making the purchase commitment up front. They make the shipping and receiving of the equipment about as easy and simple as it can possibly be. Be sure and read the tape for the box that ships with the box for the return, it is hilarious! Great job (again) Lensrentals! From a frequent customer.
Good Points: For the price this is an exceptional lens. It's not a lightweight by any means but considering the zoom range and how it performs in dull conditions providing you don't need to capture fast action, it's a great option for taking out a camera and a single lens. When the light is average for daytime it is great for wildlife in motion and most other kinds of action shots. Obviously there are faster lenses and longer zooms, though to better what this lens offers you'd have to spend way more. I shoot a lot of birds and other wildlife with my camera and find this lens great for when I'm in intimate woodland settings where my L series 100-400 is cumbersome for taking point and shoot on the spur of the moment pictures. Image below was taken using this lens.
I'm a photo enthusiast, and use my camera (and this lens) mostly for taking pictures of my daughters. I also travel a lot for work (produce/farming company), and act as the "unofficial" photographer for my company. I take pictures of landscapes and the people/operations I travel for the Marketing Department. I would say semi-professional, but without the "pressure" as I don't get paid and still is a hobby.GREAT: Obviously the major advantage of this product is the versatile focal length, which allows me to go from 18mm to 200 with having to change lenses. My first cannon 3ti got the sensor damaged just after few months for changing lenses in a high humid environment (SeaWorld). And I also take pictures in farms, where there is a lot of dust and is it not the ideal ... MoreI'm a photo enthusiast, and use my camera (and this lens) mostly for taking pictures of my daughters. My first cannon 3ti got the sensor damaged just after few months for changing lenses in a high humid environment (SeaWorld). And I also take pictures in farms, where there is a lot of dust and is it not the ideal place to be changing lenses. Also, I take pictures while doing my actual job (such as auditing the fields) so I do not have time to stop and change lenses, so this lens is a must for me. Before I used to "miss" a lot of good shots because the subject (for which I had only few seconds/minutes to take a picture) was out of the focal range for the lens I had (18-55 or 55-250).NO SO GREAT: On the other hand, I believe you will sacrifice a little bit of picture quality. Pictures seem to look little better when taken with my other lenses with less focal length. I don't think this is a problem of the lens itself, but just that requires more time and expertise to handle it.. for instance, it doesn't seem to focus as fast as the other lenses, and also seems to produce a narrow depth of field. This combination can cause a lot of pictures with the subject out of focus, especially in my particular case where I'm "on the go" and don't have time to work on a composition. I guess if you have few minutes to work on your subject and set up the right exposure, you will get better results. In summary, you don't get a wide focal length whitout sacrificing something else, and I believe in this case is either quality, or few seconds/minutes to slowdown and work on your composition. At the end the cost/benefit works fine for me, as I definitely don't want to be changing lenses when on the go. About proce, I won't pay the MSRP price for it (arround $700) but I paid about $350.00 for a refurbished one and is worth.Pd: The lens creep (extend to full focal lengt when "hanging"), altough it has a lock, it is in an hard-to-reach place. not a deal breaker, just a comment.
great versatile run around lens. yes, it's prosumer and yes, canon has way better glass. but if you, like me, are shooting in fast moving situations with enough light, you can't beat this lens for quick and varied framings. beats having to stop and change lenses and miss the action.
