So far, the camera itself is quite impressive. The zoom capabilities are truly incredible, and the anti-shake technology avoids blurring, even at full magnification. As for the bundle package, I would not recommend it. Some things in there aren't made for this camera, such as the hand strap. This is for a full size SLR camera. It doesn't fit on the SX740. I would recommend buying just the camera, and a couple extra batteries. Haven't looked at the software yet, but I assume it does the same thing as typical photo programs already do.

I am an infrequent photographer but needed to replace our ailing camera prior to our holiday and this one was recommended from a keen photographer friend. It is compact and fits easily into a pocket or handbag.. Admittedly there are many functions that I haven't yet tried but the auto setting produces excellent photos with crisp, clear definition and the optical zoom is amazing. It is fairly easy to set up the transfer of photos to phone and ipad over bluetooth with the Canon camera app. The tilt screen is a feature I have not experienced before and am not sure it will be something I will use but would be useful for selfies. Would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants a small, zippy digital camera which has loads of settings and takes great photos ... This is the second of these cameras I've purchased as I rate it highly. With my last one I must have taken in excess of 750K photos and some 500 videos! I have many holidays a year and also use the camera for my work. A brilliant tool and it never failed me until recently when I accidently dropped it and damaged the zoom function. Very annoying but aware I had probably got the best years out of the camera I decided to invest in a new replacement. Suffice to say, I'm delighted with the result and expect to take as many photos and videos, if not more, as my last one! Simply put, a great camera.

Excellent performance all round by a professional looking, easy to use, versatile pocket size camera. Bought as a gift, the SX740 Powershot produces quality photos and videos, is well equipped including the spectacular 40x optical zoom. It performs perfectly on auto settings with fantastic results. The camera starts quickly making it ideal for wildlife shots, the flip screen makes selfies much easier, the battery life is excellent, with John Lewis service, you can't go wrong!
Fabulous compact camera to the usual Canon standard. I was recommended this after my Pentax SLR packed up, by a friend who is a pro and uses serious DSLR kit. She was spot on. Does everything I need, takes brilliant photos and all in such a small package. It’s easy to hold, easy to use, has amazing zoom and delivers high quality. Battery life is a bit shorter than I would like but you can’t have everything!
Bought to replace predecessor which was well used and loved for 8 years.lThis is an upgrade but is easier to carry around in a pocket or bag than an SLR and gives superior results to a phone camera in my opinion. Much less delay on shutter response than previous model and 40x zoom is useful on occasion but tripod may be necessary for some users.The tilting screen will prove useful in some situations and a bonus for me is it's not a touchscreen. Although I would prefer to have a viewfinder I am now used to using the screen.The camera feels solid but not heavy and appears better engineered than my previous model. I am impressed by the results I am getting from this camera and am pleased I bought it from John Lewis as it came with a 2 year guarantee.
This camera is great for shooting video with a great zoom on a tripod. Of course its not going to beat the high end cameras in terms of super high quality photos and videos, but is very nice quality from what Ive seen so far. The battery is a small battery so not too long life. I actually got a dummy battery and hook it up to a battery bank for long shooting video. Works like a charm. When getting a dummy battery just know that you must tell the camera it is not a genuine Canon battery before it will let you use it upon starting up the camera. I like that its small and can fit into your pocket with a great zoom lens. I also like its WIFI connectivity to my iPhone with the canon camera connect app. I can control zoom and many other shooting menu functions from the ... It cost about as much as it should in its space as a quality point and shoot for quick great quality photos and video capabilities.
I have been wanting to replace my nikon camera but struggled to find an alternative small one with large optical zoom. I researched this model but it was out of stock. However John Lewis allowed an email service to inform when it was available. Consequently I ordered this model.Overall I am delighted with it although I do miss the timer option which is now done on an app on the mobile

Indeed i will give this away and go back to Nikon.- autofocus is slow and sometimes incorrect (blurred results)- zoom optics at full zoon are quit poor for optical (more blurred than the nikon was)- the selector on the top moves too easily and putting it in/out of its case accidentally moved the selector each time, so you have to remember to set it back to your favourite- the shutter cover sticks every so often, begs to the question of the build generally (i've heard other people say the same thing).- any kind of motion during picture taking will result in blurred picturesAlthough its cheaper than its Nikon equivalent and "boasts" more ...
