I love my Cardo yeah they are a bit pricey but I thought it was worth every penny. Some reviews I've read seems like there might have been a QC problem maybe during Covid or this Ukraine stuff but. My unit is flawless sound quality is amazing I can't run it at full volume or it hurts my ears. I also forget to sometimes put it on the charger for a few weeks (not riding everyday) but the battery has never fallen below 70%. Mic works decent if there's a lot of wind sometimes Hey siri won't pick up or she might get the wrong song but that's not often. Phone calls! No problems there. However there was this one time I left my Cardo on by accident when I went inside for a bit. And I think it bugged out so when I tried to answer a phone call it wouldn't pick up my voice. (Held it by the unit with it attached to the helmet and it didn't come off YES I KNOW YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT). The only complaint I have is where I ride everyone seems to be rocking other units and there's can't pair to mine without breaking a connection with their buddies. I hope more people jump on the Cardo train in my area.

This is my third Cardo product. My first was a G4 that was a flawless performer and would likely still be working had it not been for taking on water from worn out rubberized buttons. No bother though because it was time to upgrade. Upgraded to the Packtalk duo pack in 2018 and its performance has been nothing less than perfect. These are still installed and in service. I have 100 percent confidence that they will be working for years to come. This year I bought a new helmet and hooked myself up with the Edge and I am very impressed. Every aspect of it is what I’ve come to expect from Cardo with a few surprises. These units work really well and installing them into the helmets is easy. The sound quality is good with the JBL speakers, and the units seem to have good battery life. They have many universal options I am not now using but appreciate being available. I am using mine with a 2022 Indian Roadmaster Limited with Ride Command and it works as it should. All in all good units and I am happy with the purchase. I am curious to see how they work in my snow helmet, but on the bike, they work really well.

I initially purchased a Cardo PackTalk Black, and within the two year warranty period the fully charged battery wouldn't last the 25 minute drive to work, so I contacted Cardo. They Replaced the unit with a Cardo Edge after verifying my serial number from a photo and purchase date from my receipt, and providing a tracking number for the return shipment of the defective unit. The PackTalk Black was crystal clear, people didn't even know I was riding, but with the Edge, I even had to spell words out using the phonetic alphabet (alpha, bravo, Charlie, delta?) to be understood.I replaced the existing PackTalk Black microphone with the one that came with the new Edge unit thinking maybe they were different. No improvement in sound quality.I contacted Cardo and they sent out another unit after I provided them with a tracking number and again had the option of paying shipping to Ukraine (I chose Chicago, again). While I was waiting for the second replacement Edge, I installed my second PackTalk Black unit on my helmet and again had crystal clear phone calls. When the second replacement Edge unit arrived, and after updating and installing, it had the same terrible sound quality as the first Edge unit.I contacted Cardo support again and they had me unpair my Apple Watch and wanted me to try another phone. I only have one phone so I was unable to do that.I reasoned the only component of the new Edge system that hadn't been replaced was the cradle, so after several emails they finally sent me a replacement cradle. After replacing the cradle I was treated to the same horrible sound quality from my microphone.I've concluded the Cardo Edge just has extremely poor outgoing sound quality compared to the PackTalk Black, or even my previous Sena SMH-10.My next (and probably soon) replacement Bluetooth units (rider & passenger) will be Sena units; I'm finished with Cardo.
After using G9x for more than 8 years without any issues, I decided for the then new Edge as my new helmet, (due to integrated sunvisor mechanism) didn't accept the bracket from the G9x. So I preorderd the Edge in time for season start 2022. On arrival the microphone was dead, and a new one was sent to me in good order. Start of season 2, me and my riding buddy started to having bad connection, and eventually I discovered that one of the contact pins in the cradle was bent and failed to connect with the unit. Also this replaced without fuzz. My worry is if this will continue to be a thing to replace the cradle on a yearly basis? The new and cool "Air Mount" isn't much good if it mangles the connector every now and then. Never had an issue sliding the G9x into or out ... MoreAfter using G9x for more than 8 years without any issues, I decided for the then new Edge as my new helmet, (due to integrated sunvisor mechanism) didn't accept the bracket from the G9x. The new and cool "Air Mount" isn't much good if it mangles the connector every now and then. Never had an issue sliding the G9x into or out of the cradle, so "Air Mount" is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist (for me). Overall happy with communication performance (4,5 stars), sound is not loud enough, even without ear plugs. + Phone calls and general communication works well! + Noise cancelling during calls makes it hard for the caller to realise I am on the bike, excellent + Communication range over bluetooth + USB-C charging + Battery life is good for all day long + Music sound quality is ok + Charge while using is a lovely feature + Installation as easy as with G9x and doesn't attach over the Edge of the helmet + OTA updates - Bending connector pins (-1,5 stars) - Low maximum volume (yes, phone is maxed out) - Bulky speakers, more difficult to position correctly in helmet - App most often struggle to find the unit, even if it's already connected (App pretty useless other than for setting up connections) - Never bothered with voice command or assistants as it's always a hassle - With Air Mount more fiddly to detach than G9x, and mashing pins when attaching
The Pack Talk Edge Duo was bought so me and my riding buddy could communicate easier. We had been using the Cardo Freecom 4+ and wanted to upgrade to the DMC system. The Edge was very easy to install because we already had the 40mm speakers and mics from our Freecoms. So, it just took a few minutes to remove the Freecoms and clip on the Edge mountings and connect to the existing mic and speaker wires. We turned the units on and were instantly connected because the Duo pack comes already grouped from the factory. We really like the fact that we no longer have to connect. As soon as we're within 500 feet or so of each other, the Edge's connect to our group automatically. That saves a lot of time. We turned the units on and were instantly connected because the Duo pack comes already grouped from the factory. We really like the fact that we no longer have to connect. As soon as we're within 500 feet or so of each other, the Edge's connect to our group automatically. That saves a lot of time. We also noticed that the sound of the new Edge seems better than the old units, even though we're using the same speakers as before. The audio is clearer and static & noise are virtually non-existent. The voice commands on the Edge are recognized MUCH better than they were on the old Freecoms. And...the magnetic mounting is really easy to use and very strong. No worries about it ever coming off. Another note is about the Bluetooth. IF you ever desired to use Bluetooth instead of DMC, the upgraded Bluetooth on the Edge connects very easily to other Bluetooth devices. The battery on the Edge seems to last a long time. I've had the unit for about 5 rides now and only charged it after the last ride. But, it still had 50% left, and that was after all the setups and testing, and then 5 rides. It charges very quickly, too. Less than an hour for the 50% needed to make it full again. One thing I love is that the Edge tells you the battery status every time you turn it off so it's easy to decide whether you wish to charge it or not. Now, you ask, what about adding more people to the group? Glad you asked. You just press & hold the top button and it will search for the group and connect to it. The key thing on this (important) is that it's the group admin that has to initiate the pairing to the group. It works easy and quickly then. But, only the admin can pair new riders into the group. So, you need to look in the Cardo app and it'll tell you which rider is the admin for a group. The Cardo app can be very helpful to make pairing and group management easier, as well as naming groups and changing settings on the unit. If you're curious, it was very easy to pair the Edge with my phone and motorcycle via Bluetooth. Be aware that the owners manual that comes with the Edge is minimal at best. There's a far better manual on the internet. And, if you buy your Cardo at Cycle Gear, they will install it for free and help you get it set up. So, overall, I'm quite happy with the Pack Talk Edge and would recommend it to others.
For reference, I installed this myself into a 2024 Shoei RF-1400.Installation was pretty easy when following a video online. Don't try and do it without watching a youtube video otherwise you will likely not do it properly. No real bassy low end for those rap or pop songs, but the clear mids and sparkly highs kind of make up for it in my opinion. Adjusting with an EQ helps but increasing bass immediately adds distortion which sucks. Volume gets SOOO loud - I promise you wont get near 100% volume on this thing. You'll be deaf before 75%.The app is ok. Pretty straight forward and you just tap an icon in the top right of the music menu to select between Apple music and Spotify, so yes it does work with both apps ok. Siri works well, I was surprised. "Hey Siri" does everything you'd want it to.Overall, Highly recommend.
To preface let me start with how I use Bluetooth Communicators. I mostly ride alone, occasionally (once or twice a year) I ride with a group that has Bluetooth Communicators. So I mainly use the systems for music and phone calls.Over the last 10 years I have had several different Bluetooth Communicators, the cheap ones on Amazon and Cardo. For my purposes I have found the cheap Amazon units good enough for my uses, and the best bang for the buck. However, they would never connect with the groups I ride with. My first step into Cardo was the Freecom and it was underwhelming, barely able to hear any of music or calls over the wind/bike noise and still didn't connect with the groups. My first step into Cardo was the Freecom and it was underwhelming, barely able to hear any of music or calls over the wind/bike noise and still didn't connect with the groups. I upgraded to the 40mm speakers and there was some improvement, but not much. I spoke with Cardo and they gave me some pointers, but they didn't make any difference.I got a new helmet and decided to upgrade to a Group friendly and a unit with more features, so I bought the Edge, figuring the larger speakers and layout would be an upgrade. I was right and wrong. The speakers are louder, much louder, which is great. I have no issues hearing music or calls. The calls are crystal clear for the other parties and connectivity to Groups is easy and that is where the good ends. The range, even with the mesh is terrible and it doesn't reconnect automatically, soThe assistant is terrible, which is a minor issue, since I rarely use it, or maybe I rarely use it because it is terrible. The real issue, and biggest issue is the speaker sound. While much louder than the previous speakers I had, but the sound is absolutely terrible. To hear anything, yes it is louder, but you need the volume up loud and that is the issue. The speakers are the most metallic sounding speakers I have ever had. Zero bass. It is like Cardo/JBL knew that sharp sounds cut through wind/bike noise easier than bass. Maybe it is my ears, but I cannot listen to music on these for more than 30 secs at high volume, without it causing pain. Nothing has helped, the app makes zero difference, and earplugs and moving the speakers hasn't changed the sound.Overall - the price for what I use it for isn't justified. If I could return electronics, I would have sent this back the day I put it in my helmet.
Bought the Packtalk Edge single on recommendation from a friend. I purchased the unit from J&S Accessories Limited, the unit arrived 2 days later. Used it once so far. Went out with a friend who has a Pack talk slim. Started a group to chat in DMC mode and paired instantly. Rode over 6 hours and battery had dropped to 25%(it was on 100%) which is great considering we were both talking and at the same time listening to music on my phone. The sound of the speakers is great, and after a little practice of telling Cardo what to do via the microphone, it has so far been great. I eventually had to cut a small piece of the plastic on the bottom of cheek pad retainer to stop the 2 wires being squashed up inside the helmet. All good now its fitted. I would recommend this product and buying from J&S Accessories Limited.
