Clinique Moisture Surge Intense 72H Lipid Replenishing Hydrator 50ml

I received a sample of this moisturizer from a Clinique purchase at Ulta. I am a big fan of Clinique moisturizing products and found this to be the most hydrating of all of their creams I have tried so far. I barely use a pea sized amount for my entire face. It does seem to feel a bit greasy for a few hours after application. But it does eventually sink in and give my face very nice dewy glow. There is a slight scent to it but I didn’t mind it.I would only recommend this for people with dry skin. My skin is on the normal to combination side so I find that their lighter moisturizing products work better for me. I would probably not repurchase the 72 hour lipid moisturizer. Bought by mistake..

So to be honest.. I bought this by mistake. I've been wearing Clinique's Moisture Surge (not intense) for 8-10 years and have never found something I've loved as much until now. I was in a hurry at Ulta the other day and grabbed the Intense version by mistake and was so upset as my skin is super sensitive and breakout prone, and I knew something this thick would break me out. Broke me out horrendously!!

I've been on the hunt for a great hydrating moisturizer as my skin is constantly dry, and then ADD Canadian winters into the mix and my skin is just begging for moisture. I received this in a sample size and thought "perfect!! I'll try this out, and if I like it, i'll purchase the full size", if only the future version of myself could warn my present self, I would have chucked this straight into the garbage! I used it for a week, it felt greasy, but I was being optimistic and figured greasy might mean it's locking in moisture.. big fat nope. 7 days later, I was breaking out like crazyyyy! I'm still breaking out and it's been 5 weeks since I've used this product. I am beyond upset.. I'm breaking out literally ALL OVER my face. If I do get the occasional pimple, it's one or two and usually on my forehead or chin, never on my cheeks. I currently have pimples, and painful ones, on my forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck! I'm also prone to hyperpigmentation so this product has destroyed my skin for the next few months til the spots fade. Stay away from this nightmare product!!

Finally the Moisture I Needed!

I've spent literally hundreds of $$ on facial moisturizers from Kiehl's to Oil of Olay to a few I had researched online and bought. My face seemed to reject all of them within only about 2 weeks. They would help for a few weeks, then my face seemed to reject it and go back to being dry. It was as though the moisture was surface only and didn't penetrate deeper. It feels nice and cool when applied, and the moisturizing effect lasts well over 8 hours.I use my usual facial cleanser, then oil (Biossance or The Ordinary), and then this.I also don't put on foundation, so I can't speak to the effects of this with foundation over top, but it feels like it would be fine.I wouldn't recommend this if your face is even slightly oily, but if your face is as dry as the desert I live in, you'll absolutely love it.I'm mainly writing this review with the hopes that Clinique NEVER stops making this. I can't go spending hundreds of $$ trying to find something new if they do.

Glowing Skin

I have a supper sensitive, prone to acne and extremally dry skin (when I say dry I mean almost cracking sensation dry). Have tried many moisturizers before and some worked okay, most were too greasy and were not going deep enough to give that deep hydration. I have been using this Clinique 72-hour Moisture Surge intense hydrator since it came out. In between refills I have tried other hyaluronic acid base products and nothing even comes close. The thing that differentiates the Clinique Moisture Surge and other hyaluronic acid boosters is that there is a tad of silicone that creates a barrier. It gives you slip to put the makeup on but it also seals in that hyaluronic acid so you feel plump and hydrated all day. Living in Arizona where there is absolutely no moisture in the air is extremely drying. But using this product day and night after my serums and before my moisturizers makes the most enormous difference. I am 58 but people constantly comment that I look like I am in my early 30s. New formula isn't terrible!!

The old formula of the Moisture Surge Intense was my ride or die moisturizer for a few years before they changed the formula. I have been afraid to try the new formula due to the strong negative reaction from others saying it doesn't hydrate as well. In my experience thus far, I think it just hydrates differently and smarter than the old formula.This formula feels a little lighter going on the skin and the old formula felt a bit oilier almost and had an almost chemical smell. I think that initial application experience makes it seem like it's not as hydrating but where I notice the biggest difference is throughout the day. My skin for the last 2 months has been drier than I've ever experienced, tight, red, flaky, painful. It's only been a few weeks but I bought a larger size because I am back on board with this product! If you're concerned about the negative reviews, just get the smallest size and give it a shot for a few days in a row, even, and see how your skin reacts.

I was overjoyed to discover Moisture Surge Intense in my mid-twenties as the only product that transformed my skin to be hydrated, soothed, and clear of breakouts. A week or two into use, my skin was completely dehydrated with deep, painful acne spots.I have since tried several other products to try and fill the hole in my skincare routine left by my discontinued holy grail. I set aside my frustration with Clinique and begrudgingly tried both the Moisture Surge 100h Auto-Replenishing Hydrator and the Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer. I have also tried more than 10 moisturizers marketed for dry and sensitive skin from other brands. Nothing compares to the original Moisture Surge Intense. My skin is a mess and nothing has worked to bring it back to a happy state.Please, please, please bring back the original Moisture Surge Intense formula! This updated formula may work for many with less sensitive and dry skin, but for me it is unusable.

Uniquely Clinique - Still Here!

I have read several reviews about people wishing that Clinique would not have stopped manufacturing this product. I am a huge fan of the 100Hour Moisture Surge, BUT, I USE THIS ONE AS WELL, for a layering effect. This one goes on before the Moisture Surge 100Hour product. These are two totally different products and they are totally different out of the jar. The 72 Hour is a cream and it is very good at moisturizing. But, it's not enough moisture for my skin, so I layer and use both night and day now. (I use other products that are not in the Clinique line layered under these two moisturizers.) So, for those of you who think this one is discontinued from Clinique - I'm still able to get it in store and online through Nordstrom.
