While the tent is indeed spacious and fairly quick to setup (certainly not a minute for most of us average users), the tarp flooring could use more strengthening. An easy solution would be to have the tent sit on top of another tarp. The most disappointing feature is the plastic joint between poles 1 and 2. While I understand that plastic joints can reduce its production cost, the joint split too easily with the metal screw that's inside it. Don't know if there's a sturdier plastic material available or if it's better to have a metallic joint altogether. Not saying this isn't a good product, but it certainly has room for improvement. The last thing is the carrying bag. It's somewhat strong, but it didn't make it after 1 day for me. After the first day, there were a ... Likely possible from rubbing against a rock or something. With that said, a heavier denier nylon or other fabric is warranted. To improve the longevity of ownership, owners might want to consider reinforcing each joint between pole 1 and 2 with a high speed (duct) tape like military high speed tape. Owners should also lay the tent on a tarp that is larger than the tent itself. Would've given this a 3-star rating but the customer service was just top notch and therefore raised this to a 4-star rating.

Following additional experience with this tent, I can provide more comments. In short, the tent literally fell apart before the end of the season.Tent1: The strap was fine when I put the tent down; it was detached when I set the tent back up.Tent2: The zipper quit zipping and got worse with more use. Zipper failure is simply unacceptable.Tent3: Following rain, the tent floor leaked at the exact center. This is the spot the center hub sits when the tent is folded up. I suspect the process of folding up the tent compromised the flooring in this spot. The black spot is liquid rubber I applied to get through my trip. Also evident is a hole in the floor created by the folded poles. Literally, the simple act of folding up the tent destroys it.Tent4: This is rust ... I was barely able to extend or collapse the poles by the end of my trip due to rust on the poles and internal mechanism.Tent5 and Tent6: Additional rips that occurred when folding up the tent.

The tent leaked at the seam connecting the side window section to the lower tent section on one of the side panels. On close inspection, it is clear this was a defect in the tape/glue which escaped quality inspection during manufacturing.I would not call this an 'instant' tent. After a learning curve, it takes approximately 15 minutes to set up from start to finish (unpacking to last stake) . . . the same amount of time as with my flexible pole tent. It does take approximately 60 seconds to extend the poles, but this is only after the tent, poles, and center hub have been positioned just correctly. The tent is heavy and bulky. And as noted above, the poles and center hub need to be positioned just correctly or the tent is neither going to go up, nor fold-up when ... This site gave conflicting info - Specifications say 7.4ft and description says 6.5ft. Neither are right, I'm 6'-2" and could not stand up in this tent anywhere. This tent has "built in" poles that function poorly for the sleeping portion of the tent because the walls and corners are saggy. This built-in pole system does not support the tent's porch and the porch has no rigid connection to the main body of the tent, requiring ropes and anchors to keep it standing. Between the saggy main section and porch water accumulates in a pool above your stooped head. This is a terrible tent design. I've waited 10 years to invest in a new tent and regret this one deeply.
I don’t believe any of these reviews above one star. The quality of the metal is so poor, the weld split almost instantly while setting this up the first time. I don’t know what their definition of wind resistance is but the Walmart brand Ozark trail tent did much better than this one did as I watched it buckle under the slightest bit of pressure. This is not my first tent. We haven’t many many tents. This one is just is bad. I don’t know what I was expecting when I bought this… Just something better.
Tent was used for a 6 day camping trip. Initial set up easy, only issue at first was getting the #1 extension poles locked in, buttons wouldn’t click easily. The #2 pole section worked fine. Once all the poles were extended and locked the tent was up within minutes. Of course staking the tent down at the base and the tie-down strings took the longest. Framing the screen room section was easy, 3 poles inserted into the attached connector formed the screen room quickly. Rain-fly attached easily with Velcro and tie-down strings. Tent came with a floor mat for the entrance, nice addition. Excellent ventilation with windows and screen room flaps opened to air out daily. This tent was a perfect size for 2 of us to use a queen size air mattress and store our gear with room to spare. We sat in the mud room one night while it rained, we fit 2 chairs and a small table to relax with. I recommended it to a colleague that has kids, he ordered the 12 man Sky-Lodge.
Nice and roomy. We had a full air mattress plus 4 kids on sleeping bags and a small travel crib and still had room for our bags. Loved the front screen room..used it as a mud room. With windows open tent doesn't get stifling hot midday. We had some heavy rain and everything was dry except one tiny spot on the floor of the tent. No idea where the water came from. Only thing I would change is the door. Miss our swing door on the Montana 8 but sadly outgrew that tent.
Used once for overnight car camping trip.Pro: Very roomy, able to fit two queen air mattresses with room to spare. Plenty of space for family of four. At 6'3" plenty of head room.Con: Material does feel a bit cheap. Completely ok at this price point. Coleman also makes a version that is easier to set up for about $350, with almost identical name. Had I realized the difference I may have bought that version instead. Setup takes about 20 mins, breakdown about 10. Probably could get faster with time.Overall, happy with purchase. Don't plan to use it a ton and the price is right. I did not have rain or heavy wind to stress test it. I would buy again, may splurge for the faster to set up model though. Really like the tall space for headroom. Great for car camping. ... MoreUsed once for overnight car camping trip.Pro: Very roomy, able to fit two queen air mattresses with room to spare. We were able to get this tent prior to 4th of July at a fairly discounted price. We took it on a camping trip to the Sierras. Here are the reasons why we liked it, nice and tall, no stooping for me. I had plenty of room to move and I am 6' tall if that helps. We were able to sleep my entire family of four with 2 exped matts on the floor comfortably. It was fairly easy to put together, the instructions sucked but watching the youtube video was helpful. It took about 15 minutes together so not bad overall. For the reduced price, I think it was worth it. Please note we are not winter campers so no idea if it would be good for rainy weather but great for the summer.
We WANTED to love this tent but we don't. It arrived with a small 1/2" cut in it which is irritating but patchable. The bigger issue is that one of the back legs kept twisting inward so a corner would fall down when the winds got gusty. The velcro just didn't quite hold it and we tried moving the tie-down lines to different angles, but had to adjust several times as it kept happening. Also we found it strange that several of the windows didn't zip across the top which let in a lot of wind during the one storm we endured. Lastly the door zipper kept getting caught in the bright orange cover -- although I get why the zipper covering is there, it was just annoying that you could rarely unzip or zip smoothly. Positives: It's huge and it is very open, allowing for a nice ... MoreWe WANTED to love this tent but we don't. It arrived with a small 1/2" cut in it which is irritating but patchable.
