We have a bunch of these for their intended purpose, and they are great. But I also recently used these by themselves to just stick stuff to the walls, like one of those cord-hiding channel things that I wanted to stick to the wall snugly up against a border. Worked like a champ!

We have been using 3M Command products since they came out. We have nearly always had excellent results both with stickiness and with removability (you DO have to follow the instructions when removing; pulling out instead of down _will_ damage something). However, TAKE NOTE.; Recently we experienced the "unsticky" problem mentioned in a few reviews. We contacted 3M and they were very helpful in explaining the issue. The adhesive on UNINSTALLED sticky strips has a shelf life. It is about a year. We had bought a box of spare sticky strips to keep on hand and they were over a year old ... and had no stickiness left!!Further, NOTE: The hooks we installed with fresh sticky strips went up and stayed up without a single failure. Also, once the sticky strips are up, ... IMHO, the adhesive material takes a set when installed and once whatever chemical reaction takes place, the sticky strip stays put (until removed by carefully following the instructions).So. Make sure your sticky strips are fresh, and install them as per the instructions. I personally use rubbing alcohol to clean any surface I am working with (including the hook) and have had great results. My towel hook has been up for at least eight years and shows no signs of failing. Last month we installed a soap dish in the fiberglass shower and it has been working great. My suggestion to 3M is that they stamp the date of manufacture on the packaging and ensure that retailers rotate stock so that no product "ages out".Finally, note that sticky strips that are not used immediately can be used for other projects. All one needs is a flat, cleanable surface at least as large as the sticky strip (leaving room to pull on the tab) and the object / load cannot exceed the sticky strip rating. I've hung LED lights, signs, a notepad in my car, Lego models, ... well, all kinds of things! Hmm... we're getting a Garvin GPS for our next trip. I wonder ... LOL

These products have always worked for the jobs I've needed them for. I purchased 2 packs of these and used about half of the strips in the first box. A week or 2 later, when I went to go use the rest in the box, I peeled the cover off of the command hook side of the strip, and it was not sticky at all. Very disappointed in the shelf life of this product and I feel like I wasted money on these since half of them didn't stick at all.

The problem with sticky strip products is usually how long the glue lasts. About 3 months is my experience. It comes with spare sticky strips so, I suppose that's a plus. The item consists of a clear plastic base - onto which one sticks the sticky strip. The combined item is then stuck in place (in my case - a wall). Then, the coloured hook is slid over the clear bit and that's your hook. Instructions not marvellously clear about which end of clear bit is up. Pictures on back of pack could be more clear and clear plastic base could be marked better. The clear and coloured items just slot into each other and gravity (and the weight of whatever you hook on them) keeps them together. The clear and coloured items just slot into each other and gravity (and the weight of whatever you hook on them) keeps them together. My experience has been that regular removing an item from the hook often dislodges the hook from it's clear plastic base. Fiddly and annoying. The concept that you can pull and stretch the sticky strip so that it comes off easily is probably true for glass or metal surface. But, definitely not for paintwork. It pulls the paint (and sometimes the underlying plaster) with it. I gave up on the sticky strips when I ran out and used a "no more nails" type of glue.
These refill strips work well for the medium hooks. Although, I sometimes will use one of the larger hooks that have more weight capacity just in case. The price is a little high, but they do the job. For some reason the refill packages aren't easily available/found in stores, but they always seem to have them online.
Brand new walls and didn't want to put holes in them with thumbtacks.. these were the perfect solution. Save the hooks from last year and bought these replacement strips. Good as new and stockings are up on the wall!!
These worked very well in the past when they were used with a medium hook to hold up empty backpacks. They held up for over three years until my daughters forgot their library books inside their backpacks and both hooks fell off the wall. Figuring they’d work as well as the previous ones, I bought this pack and the empty backpacks have been falling off the wall every single day. I’ve replaced the refills twice for each hook and they continue to fall off every night. The backpacks weigh under 2 pounds so they are below the threshold. Quality has really gone down with what was once a great product. Unfortunately I’ll be returning to get my money back.
I bought a package of the refill strips, and shortly after starting to use them I noticed things falling off the wall. I used 3 on my google mini following the directions to a tee. It is sitting on the counter now not hanging. I took the rest of the package and opened them up and the adhesive no longer had any stickiness on the command side and was only slightly tacky on the wall side. I had never had any problems with the complete sets that I had bought so I was very disappointed when the refills didn't work.
I purchased these regularly to use in many different ways in the many different types of events that I help to plan and manage. I also use them at home. They are great, but only if you follow the instructions exactly. If not, they can damage walls or other surfaces.
I love 3M/Scotch brand products and hoped it would be the right application. It was intended to put something up on an outside door, under some protection. The associate was trying to help, yet it ended up not being the right thing as the door is painted, as well as gets very very hot in the afternoon. Because the door is metal, a clip with magnet worked better in this case. Nice idea though. Appreciate the effort. I've used things like this by this company before and indoors, they are excellent.
