I just did a little digging and I found out that apparently companion make all of their own things. Pretty impressive in this day and age. I'm a person who's grateful to be able to buy and own Chinese made. I'm also grateful for the opportunity to buy an australian-made product of such quality in this case. Detention of detail, the integration of canvas lining and many other features which will lacking in my previous tent are impressive. After one night I've realised that it is very easy to put up and pull down and that's in comparison to my previous tent again, which wasn't difficult.

Bought this for my second Cape to Cape hike as the first time I used a very small one man light weight hiking tent during spring. This time I wanted more space inside to keep my gear, a separate fly to help prevent condensation, and something that would hold up to an Autumn hike with likely rain. Whilst a little heavy and bulky to carry for camp-n-hike, I have the luxury of pick up and drop off this time so my Companion Pro will be my base camp! Tested it a few weeks ago on an overnight camp-n-hike with my dog! Happy to say it lived up to all the reviews... very spacious for 1 + fur companion with extra room in the vestibules that I didn’t need. Watched it again after the weekend and noticed a few more things I can do better next time that I missed the first time - so highly recommend watching video shared with the images above. Nice work snowed, providing a really great value product with your usual speedy delivery and quality service! Such a big fan!

Perhaps if it was pitched on the ground it would not have had this issue. Purchasing a mesh mat for the future. Still relived that the water that did get through was not problematic. It was only in the morning when I was packing gear away I realised it was wet under the sleeping mat. All my other gear was dry. In comparison some friends camping an hour away had their tent flood.Cons: Heavy for a single person hiker.I now own a 1 person lightweight hiking tent as well and think I prefer that. Albeit in heavy rain the companion pro is my preference as its more rugged.

Great value tent but watch the weight
7 June 2017

This “Companion Pro Hiker 2 Tent” is the 3rd 2 person hiking tent I have used in the last 12 months for multi-night hiking so I think I can give it a reasonable evaluation/comparison. The other 2 tents were by Marmot and Oztrail and were 3 and 2 times (respectively) more expensive than the Companion, but there are tradeoffs. The most positive features of the Companion are its cheap price and its roominess, the negatives include its weight and quality of materials and finish. As mentioned the price of around $150 for the Companion is extremely attractive. The internal space of the erect tent is by far the most of the tents I’ve used recently. I could easily sit upright with plenty of headroom in the middle. As mentioned the price of around $150 for the Companion is extremely attractive. The internal space of the erect tent is by far the most of the tents I’ve used recently. I could easily sit upright with plenty of headroom in the middle. The width available in the tent also means that you do not have to be on super friendly terms with the person you are sharing with. The gear pockets at each end of the tent encourage you to sleep in a head to tail arrangement that may not be to everyone’s liking. Erection of the tent is quick but the quite long lengths of the poles means that it can be difficult in a confined area. Downsides to this tent include its relatively heavy weight. It depends on how long you are trekking for and what other gear you are carrying but I found that for a 3 night trek it was fine, if going for longer I might have opted for one of the lighter weight tents and used the bonus for carrying extra food. I felt that the zips on the Companions inner flyscreen were not as smooth in operation as the more expensive tents and that they were on the ‘light’ side and may be more prone to breakage however only time will tell me that. There were also some minor stitching issues with many spare threads and some stitching coming very close to the edges of the seams. I haven’t yet used this Companion tent in the rain so cannot comment on its performance under that circumstance. Condensation inside was noticeable but not really more significant in the other brand tents being used by others in my trekking group. The fly sheets doors can be chosen to be fixed open in different configurations to help manage this issue. My recommendation is that this tent is generally fine for a 2-3 night hike, but if going on a longer duration hike where all up weight could be an issue then it would be worthwhile investigating a lighter tent even if it means spending a few hundred $ more.

Great value, and suprisingly waterproof

Have used this a number of times for spare room when caravanning, oldest uses it mostly.Last Xmas at the Prom it rained for days (only the Prom, was water flowing across the ground, this tent was set just above the water line was subject to a lot a water past the floor. Inside is was dry and secure, didnt leak and managed a fair amount of wind as well. Really please especially as the price is nice. Easy enough to assemble and the poles are really durable.Have a planned Cradle Mt walk and we will use it then, confident with its performance.

I have used this tent for four years
12 January 2022

Bought this tent in May 2017. Have used it all up for over 3oo nites. In the early part of that time, we were in drought, so not much rain on it, but a lot of cool to cold weather, and it was quite comfortabel. Have been using it more in the last 18 months, with some mighty heavy storms, and absolutely no water inside. I do use a footprint, but that is to protect the floor, from rough ground. The Oxford Denier floor does not leak at all. I got to experience the wettest, night 4 nights ago, getting 2. and a half inches over 5 hours. Not wet inside at all. I use this tent for car camping as well as bicycle touring, so the weight does not affect me. When it is raining I cook in the quite large vestibules, which helps a lot.. Yes shortly will be buying a 4 season, as most of my camping is in the colder months, and although I don't mind it being a little cool in this tent, as I am pretty old, the cold is starting to affect me. It is really good down to around zero, which is why I originally bought it. It is a really good ten very good value for it's price. .

I'm a very experienced camper but only a beginner hiker. Bought this tent thinking it would be pretty good. Had fantastic service from snowys as it was delivered quickly. Took it on a quick test run on the weekend and it poured rain We couldn't figure out a way to get in and out without the fly dripping onto the mesh inner and our mattress and sleeping bags. Condensation seemed pretty high too even though i had the vents open Would snowys have any advice? :) Seems like a fantastic summer tent....feel like I'm doing something wrong because it has such great ratings.

Polyester pro
26 January 2024

I previously did a review and gave the Pro hiker 2 -four stars, but I've upped it to five. Last night it rained steadily through the night and everything was dry. It has a lot more room than my previous tent and the polyester is far better than the nylon I had. The tent has lots of pockets and more room which is really appreciated. My last tent was two person, but the reality is that a two person tent is really a one person tent. So, this one has more room and taped inner seams too. I was really wanting a three person tent. Good that I got this one. It did come with seam sealer, but that lasted about a quarter of the outside of the tent. Note, as it is seam taped inside, it is for the outside. So I need to buy some more to seal all of the seams on the outer fly. A ... MoreI previously did a review and gave the Pro hiker 2 -four stars, but I've upped it to five. A lot of people have given this tent five stars and I wanted to as well so that people will know what they're getting for their money. Thank you. One more thing. The people that sell their tents really don't know what they're talking about and this industry just like every other industry does their level best to keep consumers in the dark. It is absolutely disgusting. I cannot begin to tell you how important it is that people do reviews which are honest and include pictures of tents covered in snow reflecting the fact that what they say is what has happened. Thank you.

well there are alot of reviews here but if you know how to set up this tent properly and use the features it comes with you cant go wrong. its a 3 season tent definitively not a winter tent BUT let me tell you what this makes one of the best tents 1- very spacious 2 man tent at a widht of 140 cm alot of other 2p tents dont offer this probably 130 cm etc only the zeus does but much more expensive. this is cheaper, and durable aswell. good waterhead rating aswell, 2- the access to get in and out of ur tent is so much easy as the door is wide and big unlike some other t shape doors like the epe which is very hard to get in and out of. i got the epe spartan and pro hiker i defintily prefer the pro hiker. the pegs it comes with is actually good quality and unlike the tri ... Morewell there are alot of reviews here but if you know how to set up this tent properly and use the features it comes with you cant go wrong. its a 3 season tent definitively not a winter tent BUT let me tell you what this makes one of the best tents 1- very spacious 2 man tent at a widht of 140 cm alot of other 2p tents dont offer this probably 130 cm etc only the zeus does but much more expensive. this is cheaper, and durable aswell. good waterhead rating aswell, 2- the access to get in and out of ur tent is so much easy as the door is wide and big unlike some other t shape doors like the epe which is very hard to get in and out of. i got the epe spartan and pro hiker i defintily prefer the pro hiker. the pegs it comes with is actually good quality and unlike the tri pegs this can be hammered down where the tri pegs can be damaged if u peg it hammer it down. t3- this being a dome shape it allows alot of head space and room inside where the epe spartan i found because of its geodesic design its roomy in some areas of the tent and squishy in another corner which is so wiered and kind of turned me off. so for these reasons PRO HIKER 2 is the best tent for me! cheers

so far, so good
27 June 2024

I've put up tents before, but I'm not an experienced tenter & I want to do some kayak camping. I thought this would be a good entry level tent for 1 person. I set it up in my back yard & slept in it overnight. It was easy to set up/take down. There was enough room in the bag to repack without squeezing it back in. The tent pegs seemed to be a better quality than 'cheap & useless' & easily went into my lawn. I guess time will tell if I need different pegs. I liked that it was small enough that I could hang it on the washing line to dry out (due to dew) before packing it away.
