The Certate is light and the rotation is buttery smooth as advertised on the reel I received. It takes a little more effort to start when initially cranking when compared to my 3 yr old Stradic FL reel that has been used extensively over the past couple of years, but the Certate is brand new and will likely get even better with continued use past the break in period. The Certate is more smooth in rotation when compared side by side with my Stradic. That said, this is not really an issue to start rotation on the Certate. It seems some people seem to think a quality reel should turn by itself and even more so with a light reel. I think these people need to pick up a 5 lbs weight and start working out. It's not that hard lol. I am pleased with the product.

I have this Reel matched to a loomis dsr820s and dsr8200s. Awesome combination. Smooth, powerful and the weight combination with the dsr is spot on. This combo has accounted for some big duskies and bream with no issue.

Extremely smooth, seems robust. My only gripe is that the drag clicker is too quiet and it's difficult to know the rate at which line is being taken in windy/noisy conditions. Would be 5-star otherwise. Spare spools are expensive too!
Been fishing for decades now and mostly been using bait casting reels, but I tell you this reel is awesome Daiwa Certate LT 4000D-C. I caught some yellowtails, bonito,skip jacks etc, and no problems it will catch anything. This reel has 26.4 pounds of drag and really light tackle, you could fish all day with it. highly recommend this reel you won't regret.
This is an extremely smooth and light weight freshwater reel. Appears to be well built with a very smooth drag. I would definitely recommend.
I have three Certate LT's a 2500, 3000CXH and a 4000, I have caught probably a 100 Salmon between them and they are still butter smooth just as they were out of the box. the drags are smooth and very strong. this reel series has very good sensitivity through the handle, you can feel exactly what your lure is doing when cranking and yet they are able pull high resistance lures easily, they do not have that smooth but numb feeling a lot of Shimano's have. If you are thinking about a Stella take a serious look at the Certate they have converted me from 30 years of Shimano's they are every bit as good, in my opinion even better. Daiwa hit a home run with these no doubt.Kurt
You don't need a reel this expensive to catch fish and it probably doesn't make you any better of a fisherman. However if you are passionate about fishing and want to enjoy your experience out on the water to the fullest, why not treat yourself to one of the best reels made. It's silky smooth and you can feel the quality on each cast and each retrieve. If you can afford it, you should own one.
This is by far the smoothest reel that I've ever handled. It is rugged and light as well. The handle is comfortable as well. I have the 3000xh paired with a 6'6'' st croix avidx that I primarily use to throw senko worms for LMB. It is quite simply the best reel I've ever handled.
I purchased the LT 4000 model and it fits and sits like a V8 maching with my 9ft Infeet rod. Lure casting over 100m and reeling in monsters with a breeze. I fou d my second love and l hope the Mrs doesn't get too jelous of our relationship.
