Pros: Amazing coffee machine, looks good dry easy to use. It’s quiet. I have chosen this model as wanted to go back to using the spoon method as to just pressing buttons. I feel like I am truly making my coffee. The milk frother is very powerful and huge compared to my previous machine. I feel like true barista. I find it easier to empty the spoon as you make your coffee as to emptying a drawer after numerous coffees being made on my previous machine. Much cleaner. My first coffee machine was a Gaggia with spoon which was fab next two had been bean to cup with grounds being dispensed into a drawer which is messy. So this is a dream. You can make your own coffee preference looks good and easy to clean. Comes with two cups for single or double strength coffee. It’s ... MorePros: Amazing coffee machine, looks good dry easy to use. It’s taller than my previous model as the bean dispenser sits on top so be sure it will fit under kitchen units. Highly recommend. Also as the biggest water container so lots of coffees before having to refill.Cons: Nothing perfect ??

Pros: Great coffee after a little time to get settings right to suit my favourite beans.Very easy to keep clean.Good sized water tank pretty easy to access.Cons: Although a big ask it would be good for new users of this type of machine for you to provide hints on setting the grind and dose for top coffee bean brand options. This would save a lot of time and a few wasted shots before the settings are right.

First time the pressure dial doesn’t move. Second time the front knob snapped off immediately as it’s cheap plastic AND the water doesn’t pump through. Third time the water still doesn’t pump through. It supposed to prime by pumping through the first time. But two machines didn’t. DeLonghi support very quickly said it was an issue and sent me back to the store.
I was pleasantly surprised but the build quality of this machine. I seriously considered a Breville after my Father-in-law recently got one, but this is of a much higher quality for similar money and produces better results, in my opinion.Makes excellent, café style coffee with a traditional steam wand that allows you to get more feel for the milk than the enclosed type. Also much easier to clean.Once you dial the grind in right, and get your volume of coffee right, the smart tamper works well to ensure consistent puck and pressure every time. I will note that changing coffee results in a bit of mucking around to get this right again, which is actually what you SHOUD have to do.Have owned it for about 4 months now, making 2-4 coffees a day for myself and my ... MoreI was pleasantly surprised but the build quality of this machine. Pros: Coffee tastes amazing, I had an automatic bean to cup machine previously, which I thought was good, but the difference in taste is unbelievable. It also looks really good i the kitchenCons: Takes a little time to get used to it, but well worth the effort. Instructions on how to alter the grind are a little vague, alter while grinding? Grinding takes seconds so doesn't give much time, can I alter when not grinding?
Fantastic machine! Coffee is delicious, cannot tell the difference between one made on this machine & one from a cafe. Very easy to use. Bought this based off another family members purchase & I would purchase this same machine again!
I had the previous LaSpecialista model with a flat/froth adjustable wand and upgraded to the Prestigio for the new conventional frothing wand.Besides the revised wand there are some differences that are not well explained on the DeLonghi site:The new coffee grind basket is the is the open base type whereas the previous model had removable inserts that vented into a single hole. This results in the Prestigio not building up as much pressure before the coffee flows. The affect of this on the flavour is subtle to my palate, but the tapered sides of the new basket make it much easier to empty, which is a plus. There appears to be a sensor switch on the new machines tamping arm preventing the grinder operating until it fully returned. This is somewhat obscure as the requirement is not mentioned in the manual and the new arm is still a bit stiff and needs to be manually pushed all the way back. It took me a while to determine why the grinder occaisionally wouldn't work. This may have been present on the previous model, but I didn't notice it.The Rinse button is replaced with a temperature button on the Prestigio which is convenient as the previous temperature control had to be configured via obscure combinations of the My button. I miss the Rinse button as I used it to pre-heat the cups and now have to use the OK button before loading the basket (admittedly not a big deal).I had a lot of trouble changing the water fill volume with the My button on the previous model. I'd get it to the level I wanted, but after a few weeks it would go back to the default setting which was a source of annoyance. So far the My button on the Prestigio is retaining it's settings. The numbers on the grind volume setting have been removed, not a huge issue but I preferred having the numbers for ease of reference when making adjustments. The recommended grind setting on Prestigio is 5 compared with the industry standard of 3. The grind courseness varies with the beans used, I've set mine back to 3 and think this produces better crema. The Prestigio wand is the type used on Barrista machines in cafes and should produce a creamier foam, but I'm struggling to achieve this. This might be my poor technique but if you are after an easier way to get satisfactory (but not Barrista quality) foam, I recommend the adjustable flat/foam wand on the previous model.I chose the black model by mistake as I meant to select chrome and don't recommend painted models as I've only had the machine a few weeks and the top plate where I store the basket and jug is already scratched.
Broke down after 6 weeks. It was going well and making great coffee until warning lights came on and it was just stuck. Was given a replacement. However the replacement seems poor quality. It doesnt hit pressure. The dampener doesnt put enough force on the grinds. Only had the replacement for 2 weeks but just expecting it to fall apart like the first one. For $900 it well below what I expected.
Love the La Specialista. The online videos showing how to set up the machine were helpful to find the right pour. The smart tamping is sooo much easier than trying to press down hard enough myself. It is more complicated to use than boiling the kettle but that's why I purchased a machine at this level and it hasn't taken long to find my own preferred settings. Steam isn't as good as a commercial machine but better than I expected from a home machine, this took a bit of patience and practice to stretch the milk properly. Recommend you take the time to follow the initial set up video and always use fresh good quality beans.
