Best Receiver I ever owned!

This receiver met all my needs, i just recently got a samsung qn90b which i hook my computer up to with a 3090 and play games. It fully passes through the gsync vrr 4k 120hz, no tearing to my tv. Tested on cod , plagues tale and callisto protocol. PS5 picks up vrr as well, so now i can play god of war ragnarok with proper surround while getting above 60fps where possible with no tearing and better response time using vrr. Provides all the proper 5.1 signals and also supports dts x codec that windows uses. I can change all the settings through an app on my phone. Everything was as simple as possible. You can stream whatever from your phone, straight to the receiver. The sound is amazing after using the audyssey setup. Only complaint, is i cant hear center channels ... MoreThis receiver met all my needs, i just recently got a samsung qn90b which i hook my computer up to with a 3090 and play games. I have 2 subwoofers hooked up and they sound better now, compared to my older receiver for some reason, theres more rumble. I bought refurb and it looks and works like new. Glad we purchased one before they were sold out!

Mid 2021 upgraded a couple of my Satellite TV service boxes to 4K but had to temporarily bypass the Pioneer Elite Receiver since it was not 4K compatible. After Thanksgiving 2021, we purchased this Denon AVR-S760 7.2 channel 8K Integrated Amplifier / Receiver and even though it is rated at a few watts/channel less than the Pioneer Elite listed above, it provides more than enough clean power to my 5.1 Klipsch surround sound system. Overall, I have to say this Denon provides better sound to my Klipsch surround sound, Elite Blu-ray, and Sony Bravia system than the Pioneer VSX-23TXH did. We enjoyed the Pioneer Elite since 2011 but with technology improvements over the years, more may wish to consider upgrading their equipment to receive 4K content where available. The difference in resolution will become more significant as the size of one's TV increases. My previous Pioneer VSX-23TXH had(1) subwoofer port while this Denon AVR-S760H has (2) subwoofer ports so you can add a 2nd subwoofer for additional bass which I most likely will do in the future since I already had both corners of our audio video room pre-wired for subwoofers in the past. My Sony Bravia has an ARC HDMI port and this Denon is compatible with ARC and eARC standards so in my case I connected my 4K Satellite TV box, and Blu-ray player to HDMI IN on the Denon and connected my Sony Bravia HDMI (ARC) to HDMI OUT (ARC) on the Denon for best setup. I have watched a variety of 4K broadcast content, regular broadcast content, as well as 5.1 surround music content and stereo music content played on my Blu-ray player and this Denon cleanly amplifies and distributes it amongst my speakers in awesome fashion!!! I enjoy how it delivers power to my subwoofer especially. This suggests the Denon autocalibration feature works well as long as you setup the included microphone properly as instructed. This Denon is an awesome value for the price. If one really needs more power than what this system offers, then consider Denon's next model up but expect to pay close to double.

I watched the LOTR Fellowship of the Ring and the moments when the soundtrack starts to show its magic are mesmerising. The whispers of sounds, the swelling of voices and choirs begin in stereo, swells to the rear and immerses you in sound which enhances the action. I’ve never heard or seen it like this since the cinema. I also use a turntable and cd and Blu-ray with this set up. The other settings are good to play around with, stereo and multi channel stereo works well with vinyl, there is a built in phono stage. Internet and Bluetooth failed

I was very excited to buy this AV receiver and use its features, especially given it had good reviews and is highly rated. The first evening it was working great. It did smell a little like something was burning, but I heard some people say this was common in new AVs. The WiFi and Bluetooth both worked great and I ended the evening with a firmware update on the WiFi before going to bed. The next day the receiver would not connect to WiFi nor Bluetooth. I tried everything including Network reset, factory reset and firmware restore. None of it worked. I tried these repeatedly and researched extensively online, noting that some people had similar issues. After a few days of exhausting every possibility, I finally gave up and returned the item to the store. I originally had an Onkyo TX-S939, but was wanting to move to a receive that supports height speakers for Atmos, originally I was looking at Onkyo, but after doing a bit of research, found this gem. I've heard people say that music is a little less lively from Denon, but I have not found that to be the case, and as far as surround sound, I feel like I'm in the middle of the action. even playing Mario Kart, I can hear the players coming up behind me, which helps in deflecting shots. I also have a tcl 6 series mini led tv, which is fantastic, and use Polk speakers, they are from when I bought the original onkyo system, and I was on a budget, so I have 2 T50 towers, 2 T15 Bookshelf, and 1 T30 Center channel, as well as ps10(subwoofer, I believe that is the model for ... MoreI originally had an Onkyo TX-S939, but was wanting to move to a receive that supports height speakers for Atmos, originally I was looking at Onkyo, but after doing a bit of research, found this gem. I would recomend this receiver to anyone wanting a budget surround system. as a side note, I have a Hue sync box between the receiver and TV, the only component that doesn't play nice with that is the 4k Blu-ray, but the tv has more HDMI ports, and the Blu-ray player has a second HDMI port for sound only to goto the receiver... I will be adding height speakers soon, but until, it is really immersive.

Quite Displeased - AVR-S760H
16 May 2024

I purchased this unit so I can use it for vinyl, CD, PC MP3, AM/FM... Music. NOT TV.I hook it up. Plug in all the devices in the appropriate ports. The receiver's menu tells me to complete set up on a freak'n TV.Can this step be bypassed? Do I need to return this overpriced component? I do not want to use this with my TV.Any ideas on how I can simply select the source and begin using MY purchase? This is not as simple as it could be - like if it had a 'set-up bypass' option. 'Quick Start'... or something like that. Definitely NOT an intuitive user inferface. The owner's manual - all 6,000 pages - does not cover this eliminating this annoyance... as far as I could determine. Is how to do so in the manual?Ugh.

Things that should be ok out of the box were not with this Denon AVRS760H Receiver. Even after Audyssey set-up it sounded terrible! My wife commented that it sounds like a part was left out during assembly. The sound was hollow, tinny, lacked any depth and the volume was very subdued. I mean I had to turn it up to 70 to hear the people on TV. Denon AVRS760H never recognized my new Samsung Oled TV, although I connected the TV with a new certified ultra high speed hdmi cable with ethernet through eArc. I had four devices connected to this receiver (all with new high speed cables): Roku Ultra, Firestick 4K, Samsung Blu-Ray Player, and Apple 4K TV. I did all the troubleshooting suggested that could improve the sound and hand shake issues of this receiver. I called Denon customer service. They suggested the troubleshooting I had already done. The Sony I replaced for this Denon sounds SOOOooooooooo much better! The Sony sounds live, crisp, and engaging with bang/boom!! Thankful, I did not get rid of the Sony! Conclusion: I would not keep this Denon if they gave it to me. I returned my example. I've always admired Denon from a kid to well into my adult years. My opinion has changed.

Seems amazing, has intermittent sound cut-out
16 March 2023

I bough this at Costco and really like it. We performed the mic room calibration and it sounded amazing. Very immersive an nicely balanced. But watching a movie, the sound intermittently cuts out about every 5 mins or so. It's very brief and comes back, but it happened the whole movie. We've checked everything, swapping power, swapping HDMI cables, checking connections, turning off all other inputs, but can't resolve this very annoying glitch. Seems that other people online have had the same issue. We're very simple users and just want to pass TV audio to this thing so it can drive our surround sound. Simply cannot get this first unit to work consistently. Will take this back to Costco and try another Denon. Would really like it to work.

Unacceptable Issues1. The unfortunate design choice by Denon to combine CEC with ARC settings so that the user can’t enable one without the other causes issues: 1) the receiver picks unwanted CEC inputs when selecting an input and 2) the receiver cannot be used on a non-ARC port without the receiver and the TV constantly prompting to connect the receiver to an ARC port. ARC and CEC are separate standards and manufacturers should never conflate them in user settings. The approach seems designed to force people to use ARC who don’t want or need it.2. Can't just cycle through inputs sequentially with the remote, forced to select specific inputs, not all of which are on the remote (Optical for example).5. Creating input names manually doesn't work because the receiver replaces them as soon as it sees a device name over CEC.6. Front display always truncates input names because it's always showing the sound setting on the same line of text. The max input name you can see is 5 characters which is paltry.7. Failure to provide persistent useful names like HDMI 1 in menus, front display, and remote. Pre-labeling with presumed names like CBL/SAT is not helpful.8. Audio processing options are exceedingly difficult to select as if to force the user to accept what the unit defaults to.9. Can't select the front speaker size "small" without the unit automatically selecting that the subwoofer is on - due to a bug in current firmware.10. Childish looking menus even compared to much older devices.
