The tool itself is very well built and easy to use, but the big problem is the catch on the side to angle the shoe, it is very easy to catch while using the saw, and that will alter the angle without you knowing and ruin whatever you are using. I think it is a bad design and they should have come up with some other place to put the catch where you cant catch it or make it so it locks in place.

This is an excellent addition to both general and professional user tool box, just as powerful as any corded tool. Lightweight but solid and comfortable to use and of course so much easier to move around with. A bit more expensive than the basic brushed version but well worth a little extra for the piece of mind that it will last a very very long time, excellent Dewalt quality.

Cant fault the build quality or performance, however the ergonomics can mean it is a little hard to operate the on off switch if you have smaller hands. I have large hands and its not comfortable to operate the switch whilst on the work piece. I have leant it to others and they simply cannot operate it without having to lift off the work piece and changing their grip on the tool
Super saw.Been waiting for this saw to come out for a while, well worth the wait. Used it on a big carpentry job the other week and it’s so much better than the D handle version, much more control and fantastic ergonomics.
Great, DeWalt have Nailed this Design.I use this Day in and Day out being a Joiner/Carpenter. Feels Great in the Hand. Nice Weight to it, a lot better for Precision Work with your Hand being closer to the Work Piece. Good LED Light System and the Dust extraction Port works very well.Only thing I can knock it on is the Location of the slide Switch. When cutting at a 45° Bevel the Switch becomes some what Closed off due to it becoming a lot closer to the Base Plate.But I'm sure that will become Natural over time after using this Body Grip Model.I would Highly recommend this Tool
There seems to be some conflict about barrel grip and conventional handle grip. Well I can honestly recommend the barrel grip. Total control and tons of power and to be honest only Mafell and Festool might be a challenger but at almost three times the cost.
After years of being in the trade and using a number of quality tools, I found that I preferred the body grip style jigsaw. So recently when I saw Dewalt had released it in the 18v version, I was keen to try it to as it matched up with my current kit. I was not disappointed, it felt really weighty and robust, a strong clasp for a quick change blade, very comfortable on the grip and kept a straight line very well. The added addition of the speed wheel is going to prove very useful. A little pricey but the quality is second to none I cant recommend this item enough.
I personally found the jigsaw very easy and simple to use, with extremely fast blade removal and replacement. Due to the shape of its body, once you are used to its weight and how it feels when you are holding it, this is an absolute dream to use, whether as a professional or occasional DIYer. Great kit at a great price - another cracking addition to my existing Dewalt 18 volt XR toolkit set.
Having used this jigsaw for over a week, I just never felt totally in control or safe because my hand using the saw was not able to switch it off naturally. The trigger position is totally in the wrong position for me, and reading the other reviews it seems it's not just me finding the position of the trigger impossible to reach when cutting, regardless of hand size when using this jigsaw your hand and thumb will grip the body of the jigsaw just behind the motor housing placing the trigger way behind your thumb, and the human thumb does not bend backwards when griping!
