I bought this to use on a cabin I had built (shell). I had to put up walls in the basement to add insulation. I built the walls in 12' sections, I couldnt complete 1 section without the gun jamming. You have to keep an allen wrench handy to remove the feeder bar so you can get the nail out. I probably added 1.5 hours to an 8 hour job due to all the jams. I was using 3" nails, clipped head, .120 ring shank. Considering returning it for a Paslode. I have more work to do, a shed to build. Too much wasted time with this gun.

I was on the fence about the power and lasting use of batteries with a "no-hose,no-gas" framing gun. That's over because I got the Dewalt 30° angled framing nailer, and Iam so happy I did.Right off the bat, I put a 4 amp hour battery in with some 2" sheathing nails and brought back some warped T1-11 nice and straight, then went over that area with Pressure Treated 2x6. I used 3 1/4 nails in the framer and it drove that nail through the 2x6, through the 3/4" T1-11 and into the framing of the building, pulling the pressure treated 2x6 sucked right against the sheathing. I was impressed. I then jump inside the shop and hung a bunch 2x4's and 2x6's in preparation to insulate and sheath the inside of the shop. Gun jams too much

I've been a Dewalt guy for over 20 years and always had good results with them. I bought this for some jobs that I would need better portability without dragging a hose around. I found that the slightest knot in the wood causes the gun to jam with the nail stuck in the nose. In order to clear the jam, you need to use the supplied allen key to release the rail from the gun, pull out the nail and reassemble. This wouldn't be an issue if it happened OCCASIONALLY. Unfortunately, I was framing a bar and it jammed every 3rd nail. I ended up framing with a hammer and nails rather than use this piece of garbage.

Horrible experience
9 January 2023

I'm using this for the first time after buying many months ago. It came with a sleeve of nails and 2 2ah batteries. So I tried practicing with the nails DeWalt supplied and everyone failed. Most the time the nails fail to go in 100 percent. They are 2in nails and roughly a half inch doesn't go in. They also appear to bend, the half inch sticking out. Now I'm just nailing 5/8 pine picketts so this should have an issue. This is a horrible force experience!

I got this nailer a week or so ago. I have a few projects in mind right now, but because of the coronavirus, I'm stuck in the house with lumber I have on hand and I'm limited to some testing and building a basic bench for the back garden.Quick tests- I used the framing nailer to shoot 3.25x .131 nails into a piece of pressure treated 4x4. When set to power 2 and shooting a nail at a time, I had no trouble sinking all nails; I shot about 15. I adjusted the depth to fully seat the nails, and they averaged 1/16th of an inch below the surface. When I backed the depth out all the way, they averaged 1/16th above the surface. When switching to bump fire, I shot 25 nails and everyone was fully seated. When nailing a 2x4 to the 4x4, the nails continued to be fully seated. ... MoreI got this nailer a week or so ago. After shooting about 200 nails in testing, I did not experience a single misfire or jam.The quick bench I put together went so much faster with this gun. All the nails were slightly recessed. My next project will be a pergola over my back patio. I'll update this review later with more details and pictures.

TOTAL JUNK save your money!

I bought the 20v cordless framing nailer just a few weeks ago as I was putting down a a new subfloor. Hoping and expecting great performance again like I have received from my prior dewalt tools. I was so sadly mistaken, this thing is a giant piece of junk. if you have endless amounts of time to keep fixing the nail jams then this is the tool for you put if you want to get the work done don't buy this tool. It was so bad I took the first one back thinking there was something wrong with it only to find out the second one was just as bad as the first. It constantly bends the nails over, the tool to loosen the head up to fix the jam is a royal pain to get out of its holder and don't bother putting it away you will need it in usually seconds! I gave up using it got out my air compressor and finished the job the way I have for years. For $400.00 bucks this thing should work like a charm instead I will return it because it is not worth the money. Also if you want actual dewalt nails for it good luck HARD to find at least in my area. DISAPPOINTED is an understatement. Dewalt try again this time try using it after you develop it in the real world.

I am sorry to say this, but I can not in good conscience recommend this nailer. I am a huge fan of all things Dewalt; so for me to have to leave this negative review sucks! From the first day I bought my nailer I have had issues with frequent jams. The nose piece has to be unbolted each time with the provided allen wrench; the stall release lever is absolutely worthless and has no practical purpose. After 2 yrs of use it now only fires on sequential mode and not bump. It will not sink 2" nails, but instead bends them over or gets jammed. 3⅛" generally work fine, but they too eventually get stuck. When this happens the nail becomes lodged half way in the piece of wood and half way in the gun! REALLY FRUSTRATING!!! I have in the past tried to contact Dewalt 3 separate times online, by phone, and by email! Each time I was disconnected or ignored. I have seen other reviews recently on social media regarding this same issue and Dewalt responded positively with an effort to remedy the matter. Hopefully I will be able to get the same response now.

When it works it’s good

I am building a shed. I bought this unit because my hands usually cramp up when I’m doing a lot of hammering. I purchased it from Amazon and when I received it I was excited and immediately charged the battery. The battery charged very quickly.I loaded the gun with the paper nails and the first sleeve worked well. The first thing I noticed was the waste as the unit stopped working with at least 5 nails left on the sleeve. I’m thinking if this is going to happen to every sleeve that’s going to be a terrible waste as these nails are not cheap. I loaded another sleeve and after about 3 nails, this sleeve jammed. I went and got the manual, took the Allen wrench off the unit, unloosened the bolts on top of the unit and cleared the jam. I reinserted the rest of the nail ... MoreI am building a shed. I cleared it again and inserted a new sleeve of nails and the unit jammed again. Now I’m starting to get frustrated. I’m thinking I’m wasting time clearing jams I could’ve hand hammered these nails by hand and saved myself $400 and all the time I wasted clearing the jams. I’m going to try it again tomorrow but if I have the same results I’m sending it back to Amazon.

This gun worked great out of the box. After several sleves of nails it now will not drive any size nail in completely and jams with every shot. I own thousands of dollars of Dewalt tools and like how these uses my existing batterie$. Which are way too expensive. My cordless roofing nailer has decided to spit off the nose piece and the small spring is now missing. I dont think I will be buying any more cordless nailers.

I am a contractor that has truckloads of dewalt tools. I love them all except this one. It is lacking power for 16d nails. I had it for a year and used it sometimes but was not dependable. Even tried to only use it for 10d nails. Had to always finish the job with my hammer. Got to where it jammed constantly so it lived in the bottom of my toolbox. I decided to see if there was some remedy to repair it and Dewalt referred me to their facility in texas I believe for repair. After spending $65.00 it now has a piston that will not return after shooting a nail until you remove pressure from the spring follower and bump it upside down. It just doesn't live up to the Dewalt reputation. Sorry Dewalt but I cannot recommend spending hard earned money on a tool that cant carry ... MoreI am a contractor that has truckloads of dewalt tools. I love them all except this one.
