DEWALT 20-VOLT MAX CORDLESS BRUSHLESS 4-1/2 TO 5 IN. PADDLE SWITCH ANGLE GRINDER WITH FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE is just what I was looking for. I'm starting to replace all of my DEWALT power tools with the FLEXVOLT line of tools! What a great idea to be able to use one battery and charger for all the DEWALT tools! I am impressed with the way it feels in my hand. It features an electronic soft start for torque control ( great feature), a rotating gear case to improve user comfort, guard adjustment is very simple. Instructions are some of the best I've ever read, very well written and easy to follow!! You cant go wrong with a DEWALT product! The tool also features a very good warranty!

The DEWALT 20-VOLT MAX CORDLESS BRUSHLESS 4-1/2 TO 5 IN. PADDLE SWITCH ANGLE GRINDER WITH FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE (TOOL ONLY) is a nice compact, cordless grinder. It handles both 4-1/2 inch and 5 inch wheels for grinding, polishing, sanding and cut-off. The paddle switch has a safety function incorporated into it that makes it easy to release the safety and activate the grinder in the same movement. While the tool does not come with batteries or wheels, almost any brand of wheels will fit it. And all of DeWalt's 20 volt and Flex Volt batteries will fit, giving a wide range of running time. No tools are required to either rotate the guard shield or change a wheel. It spins up quickly and provides a strong grinding and cutting tool. I have been using this router for a month now and it is very powerful and so handy to use being cordless. I love the electric brake. I have ordered the plunge base and waiting for it to arrive. Great size and fits my hand nicely. I prefer to use the 2Ah lightweight battery it doesn't feel as top heavy as a 5 Ah (personal quirk) the 2 Ah gives me plenty of run time while my second battery is charging. What I like about cordless tools is cleanup time in a shop. All you do is turn the tool off and stick it in the cabinet.Corded tools you have to spend time coiling up the cord and tucking them neatly away. When I go to use a corded tool again I pull it out and the cord will always drag and often pull a wrench or bit out with it, which end up on the floor. Dewalt has been a better innovator bringing the newest tech to the market faster and offering brush less tools in categories that their competitors still promote brushed tools. So Dewalt will be the go to brand. If you still prefer corded tools - well start watching Craig's List there will be some good deals, because I am selling my corded and replacing them with Dewalt cordless

Professional highend millworks/trim carpenter. This trim router is not really for the pro and more geared toward the home owner/hobbist or maybe a small shop. I did purchase a couple of these hoping to cut the cord and it is extremely more convenient than a plug in...however they dont last that long, 1 lasted 1 year of general use at millwork shop...1 lasted 1 1/2 years of moderate door mortising and trim edging in the field (kept in service van). Annoying creeping downwards is somewhat fixable by tightening clamp. No template base or guide not great either...can be bought online...balance ok compared to others....milwaukee, makita, rigid....so far the milwaukee is the only one still holding up....and has the best depth adjustment in my opinion...
This is a great little router. It is so much easier to rout long stretches of edges, perform template cutouts and other similar tasks when you don’t have a cord in your way. This little beast is every bit as good as the corded version, without the cord. It works best with FlexVolt batteries if you are doing heavier work, as they deliver more power without getting as hot. Use this tool for the purposes it was designed (trim router), and you will be very happy with it. Don’t try to use it to perform tasks that really should be done with a full size router with it. It is also perfect for toymaking, where the sizes of the pieces make larger routers more difficult to use.
I needed an upgrade from my heavy corded 2hp plunge router. This little guy is perfect. It's very light weight even with the 5.0 batteries. I have smaller hands, yet can easily control and grip it. The weight is balanced well which makes it easy to quickly grab it and run around trim. The adjustment and speed is also easy to dial in. It's so simple to change out a bit, unlike any other router I have owned. My favorite is how quickly the motor stops after you turn it off. It's a huge relief to me for safety, but also a huge time saver. And of course the best part, no cord! This makes it so versatile. Don't hesitate on this one! It's become my favorite dewalt in my shop to date.
This petite performer is powerful but requires at least a 4Ah battery unless you have a bunch (4+) of smaller batteries if you are going to use the tool more than minimally. This router has a terrific brake too which makes it a lot safer than corded models. Changing bits is a cinch as is making minute adjustments whenrouting.Be careful not to drop the tool otherwise some of the strap clamps could break.
I got tired of pulling my DeWalt 2.25-HP Variable Speed router off the router table to do table top work so I bought this little guy. I was going to get the corded one for price reasons but a sale made this one pretty attractive. I already had plenty of batteries so bare tool was fine. I run this with a 4 amp battery and have never had performance issues. The one thing I'd caution is operator related, not tool. Like with any routing, take small cuts if you're going deep. This is lighter than my 2.25 HP which means I have to be extra careful with guiding.
Worked great for a time. Used less that an hour for DIY projects. In less than two years started turning off after1-2 seconds.Looked on line, very common problem. Sent to Dewalt warranty, was refused. As if not bad enough, I have switched to battery tools over the last two years, ignored my neighbors overtures to the Milwaukee brand and bought Dewalt. Had many trouble free years with their products in past. Well... within two years four of ten tools have failed with very light homeowner use. At least the others were replaced or repaired, this one they want $100 to fix. This isn't you fathers Dewalt company. Not even American anymore.
Have been using it hours a day since receiving it, it is better than the corded version in that it has auto stop and seems to have more power for getting the job done. Every time I stop to change sanding disc it brings a smile with the auto stop. No cord to hassle with is great. It it awkward to use with batteries higher than the 2 amp, I don't have a power stack yet but from reviews it looks tyo be a good match. Also the built in dust catcher does a good job. Able to save the dust to make filler.
