I currently own three pairs of lace up boots, including these classic eight eyelet ones, as well as platform Chelsea boots, a couple of pairs of Oxfords and a pair of platform, steel toe high boots that are no longer made - 7 pairs total. And for anyone who doesn’t think that they fit the vibe of combat boots, there are other options, such as Chelsea boots that can be dressed up or down and pretty cool sandals for warm weather. I can’t recommend Doc Martens enough… I’ve got my eye one or two more that I plan to purchase in the near future!... Show more

Almost perfect
Undisputable champion of stylish looks. That's why I bought it in the first place. True to size. Breaking-in is rather easy. Protective kit does its' job as well. The only drawback I found is, probably, exclusively applicable to my unique pair of boots, not model as such. That is this thingy, inside part of the seam between shoe tongue and a vamp. In one of the boots it's sticking out a bit which really creates a painful feeling. Although, I can squeeze in my feet in a way that it pushes that seam up in a way that it lays over the fit and doesn't stick into it. Sometimes takes 3-4 wearing attempts to achieve it, but it works. Another shoe doesn't have it like that. It's probably better cut, polished our or glued somehow, not sure. Nevertheless, I didn't consider it ... MoreUndisputable champion of stylish looks. I loved too much how it looks on me, don't want to give it back! I would put 4.5 stars if I could. Wouldn't say this drawback deserves a full star. Thanks, Dr. Martens! Keep up the good work and stick to quality.... Show more

Classic 1460s
Last time I had a pair of 1460 boots was probably 25 years ago. I’ve been looking at them for ages and felt that maybe I was a bit old to be wearing Docs and most of the advertising seems to be aimed at women wearing them. So, I nearly convinced myself not to buy. Then I saw these offered at a bargain price and in a colour that I’d never seen before, Burgundy. So I thought it would be worth trying them at least. I could always return them if I didn’t like them. So glad that I did. I ordered size 44, as lately size 9 (43) feels a bit tight. Perfect fit. I really like the colour too. I always used to wear Cherry Reds but thought that I’d feel too self consious in them these days but felt that black might be a bit too normal. So this colour is kind of half way for me. ... Love ‘em.Had to buy some flat 2m laces though because round laces in cross over style Just doesn’t look quite right to me. Old school, 3 wraps around the top and then tie off, gives you loads of lace length when you take them off, so they don’t come out of any of the eyelets.... Show more

Disappointed
I’m super disappointed! I’ve been dreaming of owning these shoes for about a decade. Finally purchased them. Right boot fit like a dream. Left boot had some weird stitching that made the boot too small for my foot to enter. Had about three people look at it and confirmed it was sewn incorrectly. Had to return them. First I couldn’t get ahold of customer service. Finally I got through via email. The rep I spoke to was pleasant and professional and helped me with my return. I returned the boots via UPS July 6th and they apparently reached the warehouse July 8th. By the 18th I still didn’t have a confirmation or a refund. I had to contact customer service yet again for my refund.Unfortunately, these boots cost way too much money for the amount of hassle I had to go ... MoreI’m super disappointed! Something this expensive shouldn’t have manufacturing issues at all. And the return process was clunky and frustrating. I will not be purchasing anything from this company again. And so goes a decade long wish list.... Show more

Extremely disappointed by the redesign
I got these new Docs earlier this year after wearing out my old 1460s that I'd had for years. I loved my old pair of 1460s, and wore them regularly for years until they literally fell apart at the seams; they were stylish, comfortable, and kept my feet warm.Evidently Doc Martens have changed the design of these shoes since my last pair, and I now find them essentially unwearable. The biggest issue for me is how wide the opening of the boots are: even with the laces fully tightened, the opening leaves a huge gap between my leg and the front of the boot, which fails to secure the boots and makes my feet slip with every step. Even after adding padding to the top of the tongue, the wide opening is so bad that I can't wear them for any real period of time. This is with ... Even after adding padding to the top of the tongue, the wide opening is so bad that I can't wear them for any real period of time. This is with the exact same size of boot that I used to wear, and my feet wouldn't fit in a smaller size. I know I have large feet and skinny legs, but I've never had an issue like this with any other kind of footwear in my life.See the attached pictures for how large the gap is and how much smaller the opening used be on my old style of Docs (using a friend's boot for reference, it's a smaller size but the opening is clearly different).Additionally, the leather used feels noticeably thinner and lower-quality than the leather used in my old boots, and the new laces are annoyingly short (a full 18" shorter than my old Docs' laces for the same size of boot!)Overall, I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated by these boots. I love the style of black Docs, but I am literally not capable of wearing these shoes in their current state. I truly hope Doc Martens can fix these design problems in the future.... Show more

In Love
I have been wanting a pair for a long time. I cannot believe I waited until I was almost 40 to get a pair , but they are everything I expected and more. I have been wearing them every day to break them in and doing all the suggestions from others with balm right when I got them, I also got the insoles from Dr. Martins for added comfort these nailed it for added cushion and breaking in faster I believe. At night I take them off and put 50 oz water bottles in each to stretch them, it has been helping as well I am a size 13 so the stretching out is fine on them. In comparison to the other shoes I wear I buy all 13s they are true to fit, especially for a leather shoe as well. I would expect a leather shoe to run smaller and stretch more as time wore on but they are ... MoreI have been wanting a pair for a long time. My wife loves her birthday present
Bought the 1460 Pascal Virginia Leather Boots for my wife’s 45th birthday. She’s never owned a pair of Dr Martens but had recently expressed interest in getting a pair. Don’t know if she was dropping hints or not, but I’m taking full credit for remembering anyway.Went with these classic boots, as cool as some of the other styles look, I thought I’d better play it safe. The quality is fantastic and my wife loves them - I’ve been told I did very well. They were comfy from the first time she put them on. The leather to the top half of each boot is so soft, yet they look like they will last a long time, and fit snuggly around the ankle. They go great with my wife’s style of clothing - tight jeans, boot cut jeans, cargo pants etc.... Runs really large but nice shoes.
Wow, getting the right fit was a challenge in the store. The salesperson claimed they are unisex, but believe me they are not. The women's version is crazy tight where the tongue is sewn on with no give whatsoever. They run really large, and even when you get the length right they are still wide and loose and require thicker socks. The soles are really soft and comfortable with great grip on snow and ice. They have no lining just raw leather, so not really for cold weather. Odd because most of their other models are lined, which fills out the looseness. I like the style a lot in black. I did notice the brown color discolors almost immediately with use where it creases along the top, even just trying them on in the store.... Show more

Top Quality
Back in 1991, I bought my first pair, which were 8 hole oxblood, back when all Docs were made in England. I also had 10 hole black steel and 14 oxblood steel back in the day. Definitely wanted to make sure my most recent pair was made in the UK. At first, I wavered on buying these as the design is a little different than my first pair of 8 hole oxbloods: these new ones feature white stitching, brown base around the yellow stitch, and no black leather top at the top of the boot. However, I’ve found these to be really nice looking, anyway. They’ve grown on me. (I also bought black laces rather than the red ones that came with to make them look more like my first pair and since people back in the 90’s era scene all know what red laces mean.) Wish I'd bought them sooner
I'd been mulling over purchasing a pair of docs for a while. Should I shouldn't I? The cost and the subsequent effort of breaking them in being the main barriers stopping me making a quicker purchase. I'm glad I bit the bullet! The quality shines through and they will easily justify the price tag and fit seemlessly into my wardrobe as I can wear them with pretty much anything. Yes, they can rub a bit on my achilles... but, they're new and nothing truly worthwhile comes without effort so I'm just donning a thicker pair of socks and gradually wearing them for longer periods / walking slightly further with them. The breaking in period has been better than I thought it would.Very pleased with the purchase.... Show more
