Dremel makes great products if broken in correctly

The Dremel 4300 rotary tool replaced an older Dremel that I had for many years. I had used it for many different projects from pine car building, lawnmower sharping, to house remodeling. I have found the Dremel an important tool to maintain. I purchased the 4300 Series 1.8 Amp Variable Speed Corded Rotary Tool Kit with Mounted Light, 40 Accessories, 5 Attachments and Case. However, the kit did not contain the shield rotary tool attachment A550, which I was looking forward to trying out. Instead, the kit contained two sanding/grinding guide attachments A576, which I rarely use. With exception of the missing shield rotary tool, the kit contained a good complement of accessories. I especially like the EZ-Lock blade attachment system which is a spring-loaded tip that accepts slotted blade accessories. This new EZ system saves considerable time when you are doing lots of cutting. On the downside, all Dremel products and accessories are expensive. I have tried lower priced rotary tools, but they do not last from extended usage. Dremel products are worth the money for great quality tools.

Dremel's most powerful rotary tool
16 February 2024

With Dremel's most powerful motor for a rotary tool, adaptability to all Dremel attachments and variable speed, this rotary tool meets all my expectations. Bearing wear and failure has been a problem with my smaller Dremel tools over the years. I hope and anticipate that with ball bearing construction, this tool will last longer and allow more varied use.

I like them

I have three, plus. 4000. I use them heavily in my intricate carvings. I’ve worked them - each of them for several hours without resting them. I’m amazed how the brushes last and the power. Whether the 4000 or the 4300’s I use up to 1/4” alumicut carving burrs and none of them hesitates. I’ve not beem able to slow one down, even in heavy cuts. I use these along with larger die grinders. The larger ones are for heavy hogging and shaping. These little wonders perform every bit as designed. There’s a minor problem with them - and it seems universal - sometimes they stop and refuse to turm back on. I believe this is due to the very tiny contact point where the brushes seat in the brush holder. They need to beef up that contact point. I also had to swap out an armature. ... MoreI have three, plus. 4000. I use them heavily in my intricate carvings. I’ve worked them - each of them for several hours without resting them. I dropped one of them and, of course, it landed on the tool ti[. It bent the spindle collet - side. I bent it back, but since it rotates at 35,00 rpm, just the tiniest runout is magnified. The new amature cost me about $28. Shipping about $20. Oh well. Easy replacement, though!

Just In Time For Christmas, Dremel knocked this one right out of the park! GREAT TOOL!

I am loving this new Dremel tool. I have owned three other Dremel tools in my lifetime, and they have all been durable and reliable, but they all shared a shortcoming that THIS one has cured, namely that the cooling air blew out right where your fingers naturally grasp the tool.Dremel has redesigned the motor housing and now you can securely grip the tool without interfering with the airflow. This is literally cool. But that's not the only thing Dremel has done to improve the tool. The addition of a removable three jaw chuck greatly improves the utility of the tool, allowing it to be used with a wide variety of small drill bits as well as the standard 1/8th" shaft tools. In addition, this kit comes with a nifty, removable work light so you can see into whatever ... MoreI am loving this new Dremel tool. It is a well made tool packed with a nice variety of accessories and bits and enclosed in a case that is designed to securely hold all the parts and pieces so they wont fall out, or rattle around like seeds in a maraca. As for my other Dremel tools. I bought the first in 1974 with my paper route money and it worked for 20 years before it was stolen from my pickup truck. The second and third are still working fine and I keep them plugged in and ready at my small repairs/crafts bench. This newest one is going to school where it will be available for my students to use, and I am completely confident that it will withstand the tortures of middle school kids.

This is quite the step up from the Dremels of...
23 July 2021

This is quite the step up from the Dremels of yesteryear. One of the first things I noticed was the strategic location of the on/off switch, right where it should be. And the speed control works very smoothly, a rheostat switch as opposed to a sliding detent type. My old rotary tool was a Harbor Freight cheapie which, surprisingly, lasted about 25 years. It had the old-style "chuck" which pinched the shaft of whichever accessory you were using. This Dremel has a smaller version of a drill chuck with the three lugs. With the old rotary tool I was constantly having to tug at the accessory to get it out. This new unit works great. I've only used it a couple of times so far, but so far I am extremely impressed. And this Dremel has some legitimate heft to it. Kudos to ... MoreThis is quite the step up from the Dremels of yesteryear. I used this Dremel tool 4 times and it worked fine. I attached the flex tool and it worked fine, however, when I went to take the flex hose off the thing fell apart (pieces went everywhere) and I could not get the Dremel tool to work again. I'm not sure if there were parts that fell out of the Dremel tool when the flex hose fell apart or what happened but it was very expensive to use only five times. I tried to return it but because I did not use the flex hose when I received it (I didn't need to use it at the time) and by the time I did use it (1 month after receiving it and using step by step directions) it was no longer eligible for return so now I have a very expensive paper weight. Very disappointed.

Okay, for the price i paid for this tool it should be able to handle everything i throw at it and then some. I mainly bought it for cutting purposes and here are the reaults after inly half a day of use: first use was for cutting porcelain subway tiles, and yes i bought the $14 tile cutting bit, it struggles to make rip cuts and the spindle loosened up and flung the bit out multiple times, after 20 mins of fighting with it to cut the subway tiles i pulled the grinder back out. Second task, using the multi cutting bit which is intended for wood, i cut out the back of a cabinet which is made up of aoft 1/4” mdf and after it struggled at that task, spindle loosened up twice and spit out the bit, i was able to cut a large hile in the back of the cabinet. When i realized i needed to cut a little further, i started cutting and the bit snapped in two. Aside from all of these wonderful failures the motor has already started getting really loud and sounds like it wants to blow up. Once again, for $124 plus tax i woukd expect better. Will be pulling out the trusty multi tool tk finish the task which this thing has horribly faiked at.
