I was graciously given an airwrap for my birthday a few months ago. Contrary to the reviews I would hear (it doesn’t hold well for some, but for others it does an amazing job), I wanted to try this out. I was doing low heat, second speed with 5 seconds of hot air followed by 10 seconds of cold air. A few days ago, I took her suggestion and did high speed, highest heat and did 8 seconds of hot air followed with 15 seconds of cold air. My curls were VERY curly (still using mousse and small amount of hair spray) and after finger combing through my curls, it came out SO NICE and voluminous. It’s been three days and my hair is now looking like a blowout. I’m happy that I spoke with the brand rep as soon as I saw her. My piece of advice is before deciding to return it, please play around with it A LOT (and I meant play around with EVERYTHING) and be patient. It’s not a one size fits all so you have to navigate your way into what’s going to work for your hair best.

Between the two brush attachments, I can’t tell a huge difference on which one straightens my hair, although the one without the dots at the end of the brissels does make my hair more frizzy than the one with the dots. Now onto the Barrels! Those are what makes this THE airwrap. I’m going to be completely honest the barrels are a tad challenging to get the hang of using at first but once you learn how to use it, they give you the best volume, soft, natural curls. What I love about the barrels are that you can control how you want your hair to look. If you want a more tighter curl than you use the smaller barrels and wrap your hair around the barrel yourself. If you want a more loose voluminous curl, then use the larger barrels and let the air, wrap your hair around them itself. I also love how they give you two different directions. Personally I hate having my hair in my face and having two different directions allows me to turn my curls away from my face on both sides. I can say on the newer dyson, I love having just one barrel and not having to burn your fingers trying to switch attachments between the two barrel directions. Overall I love this product and I would recommend anyone with any hair type to get this product. I have had it for over a year and It still acts and looks just like I got it a year ago. If your thinking about getting it, the answer is YES! The price is high, but once you get it you will understand the price and the quality of this product.

I have THICK bone-straight Asian hair that doesn’t hold curls for long. Recently my hair has been frizzy for some reason. I used the 40mm curling barrel and it gave really smooth curls SO FAST which I set with the cool shot setting and brushed it out for that “blowout” effect. After seeing all the reviews online I was a little skeptical buying it, especially since many have mentioned how the curl barely holds after a while. The Coanda smoothing dryer attachment is actually really nice. I wasn't really convinced that it would tame flyaway hairs but it does. I assumed I would still have to buy the hair dryer but it does a good job drying my hair so I wouldn't see the reason of dropping an extra $500 when this honestly does everything I need it do already. I was debating between this and Shark for a really long time and although I like how the Shark can rotate to become a hair dryer with the styling concentrator, I don't like the idea of having to switch out the barrels for different air flow. The barrels also seem to be shorter in length and I have really long hair so the Dyson long barrels won me over for that reason as well. Lastly, aesthetic wise, the Dyson was more appealing to me.

Gen 1 had a nice, felt lined interior and the dividers were sturdy. This new one has some black cardboard. The tray that holds the Airwrap base is the cardboard material too. It just really screams cheap, and it's so disappointing because the last one was so nice. The felt material in gen 1 did get some scratches, but it wasn't too noticeable and I much prefer it to this. I tried to just swap all the components to my old case because I truly loathe the inside of this one but they don't fit as comfortably. Speaking of not fitting -- I really don't like having to stack my curling rods sideways next to and on top of other attachments. The layout leaves much to be desired and the build quality of the interior is poor especially for a luxury item. You're paying a premium, and the inside felt anything but premium.The travel pouch is incredibly nice in both style and apparent substance, though I haven't used it yet so can't review that fully.The Airwrap & Attachments:So if you've used the Gen 1 the base is functionally the same. I don't notice any difference in the heating/cooling times.The attachments are where it gets tricky. If you're used to swapping barrels it's going to take some time to adjust to turning the cool touch knob. I'm going on 2 weeks and I still catch myself trying to pop the attachment off. Figuring out which direction it's curling now is a little bit harder for my brain to wrap around but nothing major. I primarily use the curling barrels but I did test all the attachments before writing the review. The flat brushes and round brush are functionally the same/similar though I do feel like the flat brushes seemed to direct the air for less flyaways than gen 1. The smoothing/flyaways attachment is very confusing with the different knobs/settings, I've read about it and watched some videos and still struggle. The one I have for my hairdryer works perfectly and is comparatively simple. But if you don't have a Dyson hairdryer and wanted this to be an all-in-one alternative, you'll definitely want to take some time learning this attachment because when it works it is great!I also miss my 0.8 inch curling attachment, I realize you can purchase this separately but I haven't seen it available in this LE rose gold color which is really disappointing because I do like my sets to match so I hope Dyson does consider releasing the narrower barrel in this color soon.Overall, I'd recommend the new Dyson (or the upgrade set if you want to keep your nicer case!) but it's hard to overlook how the interior of this new model really suffered a quality downgrade.

I've seen people say it took them awhile to get use to it but I had no issues and immediately styled my hair with no awkward learning curve which is astonishing since I've never been able to learn how to do my hair. I loved how lite dyson is to hold and how insanely fast it can style your hair my hair normally takes 20-25 minutes to dry and with Dyson I think I timed it at 6 minutes. The dyson and it's attachments feel real sturdy and are so easy to understand. I've had it for over two weeks now and literally every single day I've received multiple compliments about how beautiful my hair is. I wish I could gift this to every mama out there who does not have time to take care of herself in the way we deserve. It's not only made my hair beautiful and healthy, but it's also given me massive confidence. Normally if i want to straighten my hair, even with the chase method (combing a strand w a round brush and following it with a straightener (at 400f degree heat, mind you)) it takes upwards of an hour and leaves my hair straight, but flat and boring. The smoothening brushes work great as well incase my hair begins to get frizzy (where i live it rains A LOT, so it’s inevitable), and the blowdrying attachment works amazing and dries my hair pretty quickly. The smoothening aspect of the blowdryer is great as well. Since I travel a lot, I’m glad i bought the air wrap that comes with the travel bag, as well. The box the air wrap comes in however, is incredibly (and unnecessarily) bulky, but it’s good quality.
