With the Dyson OnTrac Aluminum, you can enjoy music in silence. The headphones have noise canceling. This technology reduces ambient noise, so you hear less of this and you can focus on your work in a busy office. Thanks to the 55-hour battery life, you can listen to music for days without charging the headphones. If the battery is empty, you can charge it within 30 minutes for 9.5 hours of extra music. In the My Dyson app, you can adjust the sound preferences to you liking. For example, the treble, mid, and bass via an equalizer. You can also adjust the noise canceling in the app. That way, you can determine how much ambient noise you want to hear when you listen to music.

Audiophile-level headset with possible QA issues

Aside from configuring and purchasing the headphones in the desired style, users can use the Dyson app or website to order additional ear cups or pads in varying colors, allowing wearers to style their headphones according to their outfit or mood. The headphones arrive already packaged in their unique carrying case: two sturdy, sleek pieces of firm material, bound by elastic to "trap" the headphones together. The top (and bottom) of the enclosure is therefore open, which is a distinct yet questionable design choice, as it prevents additional accessories (including the packaged usb-c charging cable) from being securely stored alongside the headphones without fear of them falling out.The headphones themselves are very well-crafted with quality materials and feel like a premium product. The headband is sturdy, and the cushions adorning the inner band are extremely comfortable. Similarly, the removable ear pads are very breathable, allowing long wear times without causing heat or discomfort. They also contain large "L" and "R" indicators on the interior cushions, allowing easy identification for those still adapting to the headphones. The controls are minimalistic, yet easy to identify and use while wearing the headphones. A "joystick" like omni-button condenses some expected controls into one place, which helps de-clutter the right-ear portion of the headphones.Initial setup of the headphones was a breeze, with the headphones arriving containing a nearly full battery charge, the illustrated instructions made it simple to power on and pair the headphones to the Dyson app provided for other Dyson products. The headphones pair via Bluetooth, and are lacking any sort of 3.5mm port to use in a "passive" mode, which is one of the only design changes I would request. In addition to the tactile controls, the headphones offer a "tap" gesture control on the exterior ear cups which can be used to change the passthrough mode of the headphones with a satisfying "thwump" sound--like you're entering or exiting a tube. Due to the relatively thin nature of the exterior ear cups, I found this "tap to control" change to sometimes be hit-or-miss, but this is likely due to more delicate and/or smaller audio products that need (and sometimes require) a far gentler touch to accurately register gestures. With more time, I'd become comfortable with the force necessary to ensure the proper triggering of these controls. The quality of the sound through headphones is wonderful. The full range of audio was projected in an immersive way that revealed highs and lows in sounds I had not previously enjoyed on other devices. The passthrough options ("Isolation, Transparency and Off") when combined with the stellar microphones on both ears, provide perfect environmental awareness (or lack thereof) depending on the desired use case. There is even a real-time graph of in-ear and external sound "exposure" displayed on the app, which can be used to accurately determine the best (and safest) level of pass-through sound desired. For even more control that audiophiles desire, the Dyson app also offers an equalizer section, which allows control over the bass, mid, and treble levels via "enhanced", "bass boost", and "neutral" controls.Unfortunately, only several days into using the OnTrac headphones, with no apparent low battery indicator or otherwise, the headphones simply powered off during use. I assumed a low battery, and a missing indication, but to my dismay, the headphones will not respond to the provided USB-C charging cable, nor external USB-C charging cables which I am certain function. With no passive/3.5mm headphone port, these headphones are now unusable to me. I am not certain if this is due to QA issues or early defects for this product, or mishandling of the (dented, as mentioned) package in which the product arrived, but the extremely short lifespan of my product has resulted in what would have otherwise been a 4 or 5-star review. I hope to resolve the issue or replace these headphones and continue to enjoy the amazing experience they offer when functioning as expected.

As with all Dyson products, a QR code is available to set up the My Dyson app. It is super easy to connect to the app and control the headphones from the app. The app includes a chart monitoring sound exposure, battery life, noise controls (isolation vs transparency), walks you through the features with moving illustrations, and has all the support you would ever need (user guide, troubleshooting, digital assistant, customer support that connects you with a human). The headphones have zero trouble being discovered with Bluetooth and they connect to a Mac desktop with EASE.🎧 CONTROLS : The headphones have a cute joystick function for play / pause / skip forward + back / volume up + down. When you lift one side of the headphones away from your ear (for example if someone starts a conversation with you while you have the headphones on), they automatically pause what you are listening to / are watching and when you place the headphone back on your ear it automatically starts your audio / video again - convenient! ♡ The double-click for turning isolation on and off was a bit tricky at first, but this was totally on me, with time I realized that I need to tap towards the top of the circle where the illustration points to - I was more excited to try them out than correctly follow instructions :))🎧 FIT + FEEL : They fit like a nice hug on your head and are easy to adjust in increments. They have a bigger profile/silhouette than other headphones but they look great on and their size is perfect for deterring people from bothering you at the gym or library :) The foam cushion is very comfortable, especially when wearing for an extended period of time and during workouts. If you wear glasses, these headphones will push your frames into your head like all headphones (not Dyson’s fault, it’s the nature of headphones), but unlike others I’ve worn over the years, these don’t squish nearly as much and I can have them on for a couple of hours before feeling like I need a break :)🎧 SOUND : The sound quality is awesome, your favourite songs sound even better with these headphones :) Meditating in isolation mode is a dream. They really calm the nervous system - almost too calm, they make me want to nap :) For those with ADD/ADHD or sensory sensitivities, they help take away that layer of audio distraction of background noise and they take the edge off random sounds that pop up during the day, and so your nerves will feel more settled and focus follows.

A "passive mode" for a 3.5mm audio jack to use the headphones on non-Bluetooth devices would be a nice addition, especially if the headphones' long-lasting battery is drained, or if you have difficulty pairing these headphones with older Bluetooth devices (outside of the myDyson app), which I did encounter in one case. Otherwise, these headphones are close to perfect and I recommend checking them out!

Dyson has never failed to impress me with all the company’s innovative products. These headphones just added one more product to my list. Upon receiving the newly released Dyson OnTrac headphones, I was eager to try them out and test every feature that they offer. Connecting the headphones and setting them up was very straightforward using the MyDyson app. Once I put them on I was blown away with the quality of the audio, whether you are listening to music, audiobooks, or even taking phone calls, the Enhanced Sound Range feature brings vibrancy in a way that gives you a feeling of traveling in “sound” kind of experience, as well as an audio immersion that takes what you are hearing and places it right in front of you. And, of course that adventure won’t be complete without the Best-in-Class Noise Cancellation feature that disconnects you from all your surroundings, and vanishes all the noises around into thin air. Actually, I also enjoyed the noise cancellation feature on its own, having the headphones on my head with the noise cancellation on, without playing music just to relax and unwind! In addition, the headphones feel very comfortable on my head and around my ears. The battery life has been superb, it’s been over a week and I still did not need to charge it, battery usage is easy to track as well using the MyDyson app. When it comes to storing them, I just lay the headphones flat and slip them into the included case, the design of the case is very smart and not bulky which makes it easy to carry around. Moreover, I also love the fact that I can style the headphones the way I like with different varieties of colors for the ear cushions and the customizable outer caps.In summary, the newly released Dyson OnTrac headphones have checked all the boxes for what I would look for in a headphone. It brings premium audio quality along with the best customizable style and comfort.

This might be an odd thing to say about headphones but I have genuinely never had so many compliments / intrigue on a pair before! They are incredibly comfortable. From a weight point of view I don't think they feel too heavy on your head, I wear them whilst running and they feel nice and secure. They are not too tight, which I've found headphones in the past to be and has resulted in me getting a headache after wearing them for a while - definitely not the case with these, I wear them for a few hours at a time whilst working and have had no issues, the cushions are super soft.I have been using them for a few weeks now and still have not had to charge them, the 55 hours battery life is amazing for someone like me who constantly forgets to charge devices. The quality of the sound is good, using the app you can change the mix of sound you want to hear (level of base etc.) Almost all of the functionality controls (play/pause, volume up/down, moving backwards/forwards through tracks) are done on the small 'joystick' button which sticks out slightly so is super easy to find when you're wearing them, actually prefer this to having to find multiple buttons. The microphones make conversation really easy. I work a mixture of in the office and from home and have found that when I'm in the office and on video calls I can hear everyone perfectly and vice versa. I'm sure the noise cancellation feature has a place to play here... I find even when I am not listening I use the noise cancellation setting as I find it quite calming.I really like the collapsible case they come in which is sturdy enough to keep them protected when they are in your bag but condenses down so takes up less space when you don't need them to be packed away. The case also has a pocket for taking any cables you also might want. You can also buy replaceable ear cushions/cups which I'm considering as although the trademark Dyson yellow is a vibe, I'm kind of in love with the corally pink colour available.

My Take on the Dyson OnTrac
2 August 2024

I am a daily user of headphones whether it be for client calls, listening to music, or audio books. As soon as I wake up in the morning, those headphones are on my head and prior to going to sleep I lay the headphones down to rest. I have tried many, like Bose headphones and Apple headphones. In comparison the Dyson On Trac headphones offer:1. Protective packaging, with a double layer of protection.2. A modular design which is quite nice and easy to use. One can customize the headphones according to their wants, and change parts of the headphone into different colors without having to buy new headphones.3. The padding makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. The padding makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. Compared to its competitors, the Dyson has cushion support and can rest comfortably around the neck or on the head. As well they don't snag the hair when removing them from one’s head. The plush ear cushions fit snug on the ear and comfortably too!The headphones are a bit heavier than Apple headphones or even Bose, but I would rather have that, than the ones that do not provide any cushion support.4. I am very impressed with the battery life. It far surpasses both the Apple and Bose headphones, and believe me I have used them all day for 4 days straight, and have not had to recharge the battery.5. The design is very stylish and complementary.6. The sound quality is good, with the exception that when I took phone calls and used noise cancellation, I heard static (the sound of whooshing or waves) as background noise.7. I tried out the bass and listened to Jazz music and tested out the Bass Boost - there was a slight difference by using the equalizer which was very cool and made listening to the music more enjoyable. This is not a necessity for me, but to a music aficionado/ or musician, they would love this feature.8. The volume button would not work all the time, for example when listening to music and wanting to adjust the volume, I would have a bit of trouble adjusting the volume.9. I love the fact that you could manipulate the playback or play forward songs to listen to. The button on the right hand side is very useful when listening to music.10. When I used the noise cancellation feature I did have to tap hard to have it take effect.11. The bluetooth was easy to connect and the mydyson app was very effective in understanding the features of the OnTrac12. The price is in line with other headphones.

New Dyson wireless headphones
2 August 2024

The headphones are striking and look like no other. The reason I could not give the unit 5 stars is because I have an early release and did not have access to the phone app that will be coming to control some of the unit’s features. I presume some of things I experienced will be dealt with in the app. For example — the bass is pre-set on a high setting, which is great for music but not for listening to the spoken word. It took some trial and error to figure out the buttons and how to shift into noise cancelation mode just using the overly simplistic international symbols included in the instructions document. But now I know what to do. But now I know what to do. Because there is no audio prompt saying whether the unit is on or off, I found that it is best to turn the unit on and off with the headphones off my head, as I can’t really tell if I have switched them on or off without looking at the green status light. The headphones work very well if using them to listen to music wirelessly. They quickly connect wirelessly to my iPhone or Apple Mac. They even pause the music or video stream automatically if you take them off your ears. I don’t know whether there is a capability to plug into a phone jack using an optional adapter so to use them with the entertainment features of an airplane. There is a charging cable included, but there is no specific space to store that cable in the supplied stylized case, unless you remove the thick multi-language notifications document that comes with the unit — which is what I plan to do. With my other headphones, I always search for the little markers that tell which side is R and which is L. On the Dyson, this is displayed in large letters inside the ear piece so you can easily figure out which side is which. These are very nice wireless, noise-canceling headphones.

Stunning quality
26 September 2024

As anticipated, the sound quality on these headphones is second to none. They effectively cut out background noise and deliver ultra crisp audio when you need it, which I use on public transport, but then you can have the sound set at ambient too, letting in some surrounding sound, which I prefer when out and about, for safety reasons. They're easy to operate and I like that they actually have a button/notch on the right ear to pause audio/increase volume and change the songs - I feel that manual element actually enhances them, as the last pair I had were all touch/tap operated, which often didn't work and hurt your ear after lots of thuds. One thing I am very impressed with is microphone, and the way you can take calls via the headphones. My previous pair of cancelling headphones picked up too much noise from my environment when on calls, but the people I've spoken with these to have reported that the sound is very clear, which means I can multitask when chatting. The app that you download is very good, though I had a little bit of trouble at first pairing up the Bluetooth as it seemed to be connected to the app, rather than the audio of the headphones itself. I did a reset and that was soon resolved. The design is very slick, and you can tell these are made of very high quality materials. They are nice and padded, making them comfortable to wear, but one draw back would be their weight - they are much heavier than other headphones I have used and sometimes they slide a little bit if you bend down, due to this. The weight also makes them a little bit more cumbersome if you're trying to travel light, but the protective sleeve they come with offsets that - I can tell it's been designed to not add further bulk. It's nice too that metal and the pads over the ears can be changed, should you wish to switch up the design.Overall these are top notch quality, with stunning design and audio. They'd be absolutely perfect if a touch lighter.

Surprisingly Impressive

Let me start by saying, I was skeptical about Dyson going into the audio world but the OnTrac headphones are surprisingly solid. If you have issues (like I do) with being overly stimulated with sounds the noise cancelling alone is worth it. By far the best noise cancelling I’ve experienced so far. I didn’t think I would like the controls being on the ear but turns out I prefer the audio joystick. It’s not multiple buttons, it’s one joystick that feels a lot like my tv remote, so the muscle memory is there. They are comfy and haven’t held in any moisture like my AMP did especially during workouts. I also like that I don’t sound muffled on calls with them like I have with other headphones, that was a big issue with the AMP I was using prior to the OnTrac. I really like reviewing the data on the Dyson app so I can make adjustments where needed. I like that they are customizable but would have loved the option to select my own cups and cushions as a build your own- just for sustainability purposes. Now nothing is perfect and neither are the OnTrac headphones. I had issues with them staying on my head when I lay flat on my back during specific bench workouts. I do suspect it’s the same with every over the ear headphone as i experienced the same with my AMP and even Sonys before that. The only difference is with my AMPs I could prevent that by moving them forward a bit onto my forehead. With the OnTrac, even if I do that, they still tend to slip. Because I have experienced this with every over the ear headphone I’ve used, I’m not deterred from using them.Overall I really enjoyed these over the ear headphones and will continue to use them.

excellent, comfortable, a bit heavy but brilliant

I've had the headphones for just over a week and I've found them excellent. Right out of the box they had 90% battery and I've only recharged them once so far despite using them daily. The sound cancelling works wonderfully under the Heathrow flightpath when I'm sat out in my garden and it's only taken a few tries to get used to the necessary force to switch between the modes with the double-tap controls. The Bluetooth hasn't been a problem with lag or latency. I'm a gamer at heart and the left/right stereo has been clear as a bell for all the audio-cues from my games letting me know where things are spatially and distance-wise and the built-in mic carry's my voice just fine.Sound quality is wonderful, the features I thought would be gimmicky (like head detect ... MoreI've had the headphones for just over a week and I've found them excellent. The joystick doesn't seem compatible with every player for forwards/backwards commands and the volume can sometimes be hit/miss but its intuitive to use and still better than other pairs of headphones I've used.Sound clarity is beautiful and the app works easily to change between the base and enhance modes. I hope to see more features developed for this app in time and I look forwards to what else happens and what other measuring metrics will be added. I haven't found a source that pushes the lower end bass yet but its clearly got a fine range and perfect reproduction of sound. The Ontrac are heavy but don't feel it to wear, the weight is on the top of the head rather than the ears and easy to adjust. The cushions sit just on my ears and I've worn them for hours without feeling sore or sweaty so full points.Mine have the orange cushions and aluminium outers. I haven't purchased any other colours but I have removed them (to see what was inside) and they're very easy to clip back together.I really love them and fully recommend the Ontrac to others!
