When I was reading reviews on other platforms prior to me posting my review, a lot of people had an issue with blending or getting pigment. I purchased the putty primer brush to use with this product and it’s my everything. I’ll write a separate review on that- but I think the key to good application and pigment payoff with this product is a good dense and compact brush. I apply like that and blend with a sponge if I have to, and then I’ll lightly set the bronzer with a translucent powder using a fluffy brush before applying powder bronzer. This prevented the bronzer from becoming patchy and afforded me a flawless application. Gives me a healthy glow and compliments my cheek bones. This is a great bronzer for the price. With that being said, I don’t think I will repurchase just because I like other cream bronzers more, but I will use this up and recommend this product. I will say, elf can work on their shade range. There’s a definite lack of range for very fair skin tones, and very deep. The light-medium shade range is more catered to.

LOVE this cream bronzer. I wear it everyday for work and find it wears beautifully! It’s more cool toned than orange toned so it works great to sculpt the face. It’s a decent amount of pigment but not too much so if you add too much product it doesn’t overwhelm your face! It blends well and dries down somewhat matte not too shiny. Lasts very well for me through the whole day and doesn’t dry my skin out. Great product for the price and I reach for it daily! It doesn’t seem to cause texture issues whether I use a bb cream or a full coverage foundation. It would be great for someone starting out with cream products too! Only thing I don’t love is that how it’s packaged means you dip your brush in to use it each time so some brush fibres tend to get in the pot! Highly ... MoreLOVE this cream bronzer. I have a light complexion and combination skin that burns rather than tans. When I want that sun-kissed look. I rely on self tanners and bronzers. I tried the Putty Bronzer and it was hard to decide what the best match was for me. Feelin' Shady appears like a cool beige and Tan Lines appears as a slightly orangey suede shade. I tried both to see which would look more natural and both gave me a very muddy and overbronzed appearance. I had to experiment with varying amounts of bronzer and even blush to correct the muddiness. I finally found a combination that worked for me but it would have been easier with one color so I hope there are more neutral undertone bronzers in the future. I got this a year (2 years??) ago because like everyone was saying "oh it's so good" and I tried for MONTHS to like it. I even own two shades one that I bought like two months ago because I needed a darker shade for the summer and didn't want to try another bronzer formula because I've yet to find one I like and like at least I know how to use this one.My big issue is that it dries too quickly. You have to blend immediately, otherwise it ends up patchy. It's also really hard to use a brush to get into the pot, so it's easier to just use your fingers but that means you have to blend with your finger. You have to warm up the product too so like you're just there swirling your finger to melt product, then you have too much and put it on your face and are furiously ... MoreI got this a year (2 years??) ago because like everyone was saying "oh it's so good" and I tried for MONTHS to like it. You have to warm up the product too so like you're just there swirling your finger to melt product, then you have too much and put it on your face and are furiously blending and then it's almost gone. Like it looks like there's nothing on your face. With the darker shade I do have it is a bit more apparent but if I blend too slowly (and I have a chronic pain disease so sometimes I just am too slow to blend it properly) the patchiness is very clear. If it works for you, awesome!! Love that for you!! It just doesn't work for me and given that I've had it for so long and still feel like there's a learning curve it's just not worth it for me. I'll finish using these (or at least till they start smelling funky because I don't use them a lot but we're in a recession so I'm trying to not buy stuff and then not use them) but then I will try to find another cream bronzer. It's just not my fave, and I've realized that this and the only other thing from the putty like that I've tried (the og powerless putty primer) I just have not liked them. Maybe they're just not great for people with super dry skin.
I have very fair skin and it's not easy finding a cool toned, almost grey colored contour. I use the lightest shade of this putty bronzer as a contour (not bronzer) in Feelin Shady, and it's PERFECT. It's not crazy pigmented, but that's not a bad thing. It makes it easier to not get too crazy with.It blends in so fast and easy and doesn't move my foundation underneath. Building it up is a breeze and adds to the color. I find many contours, when built upon itself, starts getting muddy and or streaky, but that's certainly not the case with this.I have tried the contour wand and actually enjoy this formula more, but the wands works well, too.
This shade actually is a true grey-based contour shade. It is slightly sheer, which I did not like at first, because I felt like you couldn't see much of it even on my very fair skin. Then I did a side-by-side and noticed OH. Contour shouldn't be obvious, and does a LOT to change your face shape even when you can't "tell" it's there. The product TAUGHT ME to contour correctly, because the product is PROPERLY pigmented - for once! It is also blurring, creamy, easy to blend, and all the other goodness. As a cream, though, it isn't the best for my nose. But the cheekbones have NEVER looked better. That said, the range is abysmal. Why have only one contour shade, and only for fair skin? I am WAY OVER having any kind of product that only works for fair skin.
I have light-medium skin with neutral warm understones. I use shades Honey Drip and Golden Days. I like this bronzer. I use my fingers to swirl it into the pot and apply onto areas of my face I want some warmth. After dotting it aroudn my face, I use a domed dense brush, like the Morphe M449 or V108 brush to buff it out. I like that it's buildable and isn't instant color upon application. It allows me some time to blend it out for a natural look. Those brushes are also the perfect size to swirl into the pot to pick up the product. I don't mind that it takes some time to build up the color that I want. If I'm in a rush, I end up using only my fingers to pick up the product in the pot and to blend it out. I can see for some that if this would be packaged in a pan the size of the putty primer container that it would be easier to pick up the product on a wider selection of brushes and tools. Though, this didnt stop me from liking the product and ejoying how easily it blends. When in doubt, go a shade or two darker for that extra bronzed beach summer vibes look.
Okay so I just got this today and was very excited to try it. I got the shade feeling shady which I thought would be perfect because the shade is like a true contour color, very cool toned and I looolove cream contour before I go in with a powder bronzer. I have to say the consistency of this I like. Its creamy but soon tints into a drier powder texture. I liked it better over my foundation than just on bare face. Here comes the bad part.....it barely shows up on my skin. Like barely almost blends away into nothing. I had to dip my brush and sponge in there at least 10 times and swirl it around just to see a little bit of color and I found the more I layered it the patchier it got and it looked like muddy patches . I had to dip my brush and sponge in there at least 10 times and swirl it around just to see a little bit of color and I found the more I layered it the patchier it got and it looked like muddy patches . Now if this had been a color that shown up on me I wouldn't need to have layered it up so that could have been avoided. I am light to medium skin tone depending on the time of year and I have other contour creams that are this shade from other brands and they show up very well as a good strong shadow after blending them so I had higher hopes for this one. Not sure why so much of the product blended away to basically nothing that easily. The texture is great so I'm sure if I tried a diff color I would like it if the texture is the same. I just don't think there's enough pigment in the lightest shade feeling shady, however I wouldn't think of that one as a bronzer more like a contour but it doesn't show up anyway so I wouldn't waste my time with it. Unless your like paper white maybe you could see it but not enough pigment it's a very inconsistent consistency in my opinion. so it will be patchy. I have seen other reviews of the shade tan lines which is a truer bronzer shade so I will be ordering that one to try out next because I have hopes for the consistency and the pigmentation looks better on the darker shades. I also got some free goodies with my order which was an illuminating primer and they gifted me a free highlighting brush which was awesome!
I really wanted to try this after watching some tutorials on YouTube. I got this in the shade honey drip and was hoping this would work for me but it looks more like a contour on my complexion-medium light with neutral undertones--than looking bronzed. I then got the next color up which is a tad too bright and looks more like a blush. I have the powder blush quad, and the darkest shade looks great on me, but I'm striking out finding my shade in this. There must be a learning curve to apply, as my brushes are too fat, dont pick up enough product, and it dries fast making it hard to blend. Applying a cream product with a brush is new to me, so maybe i will get better at using this bronzer with practice
Everyone always says elf is good so I tried this as my first ever elf product and it was just awful. There's zero colour payoff, I'm light skinned and couldn't see anything. I put some on the whitest part of my leg and still, it just blended out to nothing at all. Even after scraping loads of product out with my nail and slathering it on it still isn't enough. And even worse than that, it didn't just turn invisible but it also left my skin feeling coated and greasy. It's the only new makeup product I've ever just thrown away, I usually put stuff away in a box for later and throw stuff when it's expired. Not this. I used it a few times and threw i out. It's worse than nothing, it's just a pot of cheap grease.
