The Deebot started off well with easy mapping, however the app wouldnt allow me to apply virtual barriers and this continues. We use the machine mostly for mopping as we have a large area of polished concrete and it does a great job. Unfortunately this machine is far from maintenance free as the roller continually gets clogged with hair from 2 long haired females, 2 cats and a dog. It has to be removed after each clean (twice weekly). Water containers , clean and dirty also require filling and emptying after each clean. The big downside is that it cant cross a carpeted area to mop a hard floor . The application of the mopping pads will prevent this and as such our ensuite floor cannot be mopped which is really disappointing. The big downside is that it cant cross a carpeted area to mop a hard floor . The application of the mopping pads will prevent this and as such our ensuite floor cannot be mopped which is really disappointing. We have also noticed that the battery life between charges has already diminished in just 3 months and charging time is 5-6 hours. This means it will start cleaning at 9 am, clean for about an hour and then have to recharge with cleaning not finished until 2am, which is pretty hopeless and annoying. In the last week I had to remap the house as the machine became completely disoriented and wouldnt move more than half a metre from the base unit. I have also noted that over the three months of use the vacuum mode is less effective in picking up debris. Because when operating in mopping mode the vacuum is still active the workings get clogged with moistened dirt, this needs to be clean out regularly adding to the constant maintenance of this machine which seems to defeat the purpose of having an automatic cleaner. So after having the Deebot for 3 months and discovering its flaws, declining battery life, constant maintenance and inability to cross carpet to clean our ensuite I wouldnt recommend it. Oh and the voice recognition is hopeless requiring 4-5 attempts before it responds!

UNBOXING: The unboxing experience of the Deebot X1 Omni is quite good. In the box, you’ve got primarily 2 smaller boxes—one for the base station, and one for the robot itself. The entire package includes the robot, OMNI station, dual side brushes, washable mopping pads (plus some spares stowed away in the base station), a power cord, a pre-installed dust bag in the station plus another in the box, a cleaning brush stored in the station, an instruction manual, and a multi-function cleaning tool used for removing hair from brushes and dusting the robot’s filter. BUILD: The robot is well-built, the main brush, side brushes, mops are easily accessible, but require flipping the robot over on its back to access. BUILD: The robot is well-built, the main brush, side brushes, mops are easily accessible, but require flipping the robot over on its back to access. I recommend being gentle when setting it on its back as not to cause damage to the robot or your surface. The dust filter is accessible from under the magnetic top cover of the robot, which is easily removed. The OMNI station is also pretty incredible in that it houses a clean water reservoir, a dirty water reservoir, a dust collection cabin, a cleaning sink for the robot to clean its mops, a heated air dryer, and a charging station where it docks to charge. Additionally, it can store some additional mop pads and the cleaning brush so that you can maintain its cleaning sink from time to time. SETUP: Although you can do the setup without the instruction manual, I HIGHLY recommend going through the manual after the initial setup. It has a lot of good information about its features, where everything is, and how to maintain the system. On the inside lid of the OMNI station are some basic instructions on how to get set up. Simply set up the base station against a wall where it has enough clearance on all 3 other sides. You’ll of course need to plug in the power cable, and thankfully there’s a cable organizer on the back to make your cable management nice and clean. Gently flipping over the robot, attach the side brushes (and mop pads as long as you’re not operating it on carpet). Remove the clean water reservoir from the OMNI station and fill it up to the labeled MAX line. Afterwards, you can download the app using the QR code on the lid and begin the setup process by connecting the Deebot X1 Omni to your Wi-Fi. It’s important to mention that the X1 Omni will function over a 2.4GHz wifi network, but seemingly not a 5GHz network. So be sure that whatever network you select has a 2.4GHz channel option. When I tried a dedicated 5GHz network, it failed to connect. The app does warn you about this, but if you aren’t paying close enough attention, you might miss this. Once I got it setup, I had it do a Quick Mapping of my main floor which took somewhere around 4 minutes. This was seriously impressive how quickly it moved. The app recommends removing the mop pads for the best Quick Mapping experience, but I did not do this. The X1 Omni measured the actual accessible surface area to be 419 sq ft in subsequent cleaning runs. CLEANING FEATURES: The X1 Omni is full of features. Once you have performed a mapping of your floor plan, you can then view a 2D map and set up cleaning zones however you like. You can split zones, merge zones, and set up virtual boundaries if there are areas where you don’t want the X1 Omni to clean. You can then label each area as “Living Room”, “Kitchen”, “Dining Room”, etc. Moreover, you can view a 3D map of your floor plan and select from a common list of furniture items and roughly lay them out on the floor plan. This allows you to then use voice commands directly with the robot to say things like “Okay Yiko, mop under the Dining Room table” or “Okay Yiki, mop by the Living Room sofa.” This is a really cool feature that I never really thought about, but it’s a great idea that is executed surprisingly well. Once you have done this, having the X1 Omni clean specific areas is much easier and less of a hassle, since you don’t have to open the app to have it clean around the kitchen and dining table after a messy breakfast. There’s a whole list of commands for you to review within the app, and there is a built-in speaker on the X1 Omni so it can speak back to you as verbal confirmation of what it is doing. Very impressive stuff, here. While the robot is vacuuming, you can view its cleaning trail on the 2D map. The 3D map won’t show you its cleaning trail while it’s out and about, but it will show you where it’s at in real time as well as its cleaning progress around furniture you have targeted. There are tons of options for the robot’s cleaning preferences like vacuuming power or water flow, and you can change them on the fly while it’s out and about, which I can appreciate. This can be done either by the app or by voice command. You can also set schedules and also set up the order in which you want each room to be cleaned, and even set vacuum power or water flow levels for each room. VIDEO FEATURES: One area where the X1 Omni gets sort of strange is the Video Manager feature. It allows you to control the X1 Omni either by arrows on a touch screen with a video feed much like a remote control car, or by tapping a location on the floor plan where the robot can drive to. It also has a “Home Patrol” button which can make it automatically patrol your home, taking images and video along the way. This feature is only useful if you’re actively watching the video feed or if you want to look at the images later. It doesn’t send you notifications during this process, so it’s not really a patrol meant for security. Even so, if you do not have any other way of checking up on your home during an extended time away, this could absolutely be a useful feature for that. You can also schedule these patrols to occur regularly if you wish. ROBOT PERFORMANCE: In terms of performance, I think the X1 Omni has impressed me. I have been using other robot vacuums for years now, but never one that could mop. The X1 Omni’s mapping features are far more advanced than any others I’ve experienced yet. While it can still have issues with cables and cords getting snagged like most vacuums, if you do your diligence to keep those kinds of things out of the way, the X1 Omni is a painless experience. Unlike my other vacuums, it doesn’t climb up against my dining table chair legs and get its wheels stuck to the point where it can no longer touch the ground. Rather, the X1 Omni has yet to get stuck between chair legs and ask me for help. While it does sometimes have some difficulty navigating between objects where there is very narrow space, it will persevere and find its way. When the X1 Omni mops, I prefer to have it on the high water flow setting, which does a good job at keeping my floor clean. It’s not going to get the stickiest of meses out of my floor, but it will do a great job at keeping the floors clear of crumbs and dust. It does a good job at covering the full surface area of my floors, and it makes it a painless experience for me by returning back to the OMNI station to refill on water, empty the dust pan, and clean the mop pads so it isn’t dragging filth around with it. And once the job is done, it even has a heated air dry for the mop pads. The X1 Omni is the kind of system that I feel confident about getting the job done without any human intervention—which is fantastic if I want to have it run while I’m away from home. And when I do have to clean up, it’s easy enough to empty the dirty water reservoir, refill the clean water reservoir, and empty the dust collection bin—all from the OMNI station. And if I need to clean the robot itself, the included tools make it so easy to do, and there’s such a strong focus on waste reduction by using a washable dust filter and washable mop pads. Just be sure to dry the dust filter before use. From time to time, you’ll also need to clean the sink that the robot uses to clean its mop, but Ecovacs has made this very easy, as well. Simply press the water button on the OMNI station and the robot will eject itself from the station and clean water will be added to the cleaning sink. From there, you can take the included cleaning brush (stowed away in the Omni Station between the reservoirs) and brush the cleaning sink clean. Once you’re done, press the water button again, and the OMNI station will suck the dirty water out of the sink into the dirty water reservoir, and the robot will return to the station. My X1 Omni was able to clean 419 sq ft between 65 to 73 minutes on the stock performance. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to more accurately measure the battery performance, but I can say that for me, it never reached 50% battery after having started at 100%. Larger floor plans or more intense vacuum settings will yield different results. CONCLUSION: Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni is honestly one of the most impressively engineered pieces of technology I’ve used in a while. Ecovacs knows what an inconvenience vacuuming and mopping can be and has set out to make a product that is incredibly easy to operate and makes it very easy to use when you do have to interact with it. While the price is quite steep, I do think Ecovacs has something quite unique that other companies don’t have. But that uniqueness is rooted in a design focused on human needs and creating something that has a pleasant user experience.

I've been testing the ECOVACS, DEEBOT X1 OMNI robot vacuum / mop for the past few days and it is quite impressive! I have hardwood floors that I have to clean daily because I have two dogs that are heavy shedders and are constantly leaving dirty paw prints all over the floor. The first thing that impressed me was how easy and quick it was to assemble the product. I have hardwood floors that I have to clean daily because I have two dogs that are heavy shedders and are constantly leaving dirty paw prints all over the floor. The first thing that impressed me was how easy and quick it was to assemble the product. It was a little challenging getting the product registered into my ECOVACSHOME app, but once that was complete the DEEBOT was ready to go. It seamlessly navigated around the house to begin its initial mapping (in vacuum mode) and was very good at detecting its surrounding obstacles. We then tried it in vacuum/mop mode, which is easily transitioned by adding on the two mop pads. It does a very good job in this mode and the two mop pads noticeably pick up dirt from the floor (even in between the hardwood floor cracks). Once the DEEBOT recognizes that the mop pads need to be cleaned, it returns to the cleaning station to self-clean the pads and then continues to proceed with cleaning the remaining area that was selected. It even navigated itself around furniture and the dogs. The self-cleaning feature for this robot vacuum/mop is my absolute favorite feature of this product. It is essentially self-operating and self-sustaining outside of minimal product cleaning/maintenance. The large water tank and waste tank minimizes the frequency of having to refill and dump out water. I was able to mop over 1000 sqft three times without having to refill the water and empty out the waste tank. Overall, this is a great product.
Only prob so far was learning how to say yiko correctly, tec said it’s a common report and they are working on improving it but once you get use to saying it correctly she is all good, Would be good to give it your own name. quick mapping works well and is pretty accurate and a bit of fun with the 3D plan. You can then name the rooms and schedule your own cleaning plan, down to how many times and what power on the vac. only jammed twice from one of the kids small pencils hiding under the bed and a large plastic wrapper kids bedroom again. The station works really well with the auto empty and cleaning mop pads, no leaks and not to bad on the noise. I have about 180 square metres of floors to do,(the bot shows the area and time it takes) all at once the bot has to recharge and go out to finish off the last 30m, once it recharges for six hours, but once a schedule is set this won’t be a prob as only cleaning certain areas different times of the day. Mopping does work well on fresh mess and a dusty floors but if its dried up sauce or liquid from kitchen cooking and you don’t get straight onto it the bot doesn’t have the scrubbing power to pick it up also no chemicals can be added to the water, ecovac are apparently going to have a product soon. One other thing to take note is that it will not go onto carpet while the mop pads are in so you cannot schedule to do carpet and hard floors the same time, I have set up for hard floors on regular program and just pull out the mops for the carpet a couple time a week only bedrooms and a rug in the lounge bit of a pain for such an expensive toy, but not big issue as it takes thirty secs to change over. The camera is great and being able to speak and check up on the kids is handy also to do a home security check, the cat comes out and checks the bot out each time I turn in on remotely. Overall very happy with it so far and believe it will improve as ecovac are identifying any improvements and adding to the algorithm.
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to try several robot vacuums, but nothing has come close to the ECOVACS Robotics DEEBOT X1 OMNI Robot Vacuum & Mop. This unit offers so many features and outperforms all previous units and it also includes a mop feature! What’s in the box: - DEEBOT X1 OMNI vacuum and mop robot - OMNI auto-emptying and auto-cleaning station - Extra dust bag - Extra pair of mopping pads - Cleaning brush - User manual When it arrived the size of the box was a little surprising, I was nervous about how big this robot might be. Once unboxed, it is actually a very manageable size for our home. We have a perfect spot in our family room for the base unit which provides access to all the hardwood and tile flooring on the main level. Setup: There are extensive instructions included (user manual) that are easy to follow and made the initial setup a breeze. Ecovacs has done an amazing job of simplifying the setup process for the non-technical user. Both the Deebot (vacuum) and the Omni station (base – instructions attached) require setup. The base needs to be plugged in and the clean water tank filled. The DEEBOT should be fully charged before initial use. The side brushes and mop pads can be installed at this point or left off for initial mapping of the required spaces. Once the area is mapped a 2D or 3D map is available, rooms can be identified, and zones can be setup and customized as desired. There are numerous settings available based on user preferences. Cleaning: The DEEBOT X1 simply outperforms any previous robot vacuums I have owned. The unit runs quietly, and the mopping performance far exceeded my expectations. We have a small dog that keeps us on our toes in terms of cleaning the hardwood and tile flooring and it’s now a snap. We get approximately 3-4 cleanings out of a tank and the clean up between uses is very manageable. Pros: - Easy to set up and use - ECOVACS app is user friendly and packed with features - Cleaning capabilities of the mopping function are outstanding - Great build quality and design of vacuum and base unit - Very quiet and mostly self-sufficient - Video feature – we are on the road quite often and have used this feature for checking on our home while away Cons: - The base unit works in our home, but could see it being large for smaller spaces Overall: The ECOVACS Robotics DEEBOT X1 OMNI Robot Vacuum & Mop is a top-quality product packed with valuable and user-friendly features. It’s probably the smartest “smart” device we own but is a breeze to setup and operate. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a robot vacuum with mopping capabilities.
Overall, the ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT X1 OMNI is a solidly-constructed robotic vacuum. I was able to test it in terms of mopping floors (which it did quite thoroughly) and am still looking at how it vacuums carpeting. The base unit is about 40 or more pounds, even without water being inside one of the two liquid containers housed in the unit--so be prepared when you either pick up this unit from the store or have it delivered. If you follow the directions in order, you'll have no problems in getting the unit set up. I didn't exactly do that, as I tend to be one to try to intuitively set something up (thinking if it's engineered right, certain things should be obvious). Follow the directions with this unit! I didn't exactly do that, as I tend to be one to try to intuitively set something up (thinking if it's engineered right, certain things should be obvious). Follow the directions with this unit! The vacuum unit itself comes about seventy-or-so-percent charged, so you can begin a vacuum sequence straight out of the box. You will need to download the ECOVACS app (in my case, via the App Store) in order to interface with the device. What's interesting is that the firmware required two separate updates to become fully updated, reminiscent of going from Windows 9 to Windows 10 to Windows 11! I've not had a device before that required stepped updates. However, once the updates were done, everything was set. It was too bad that there was at least one grammatical error within the app--one would think that in spending more than four figures on a vacuum system, folks would be more detail-oriented, but this didn't effect functionality. When I set up the vacuum to mop, I added Pine-Sol to the clean water container with no issues. As mentioned, the vacuum properly mapped the area to be mopped. The DEEBOT has a camera that allows you--via four-digit password protection--to literally see what it sees as it's cleaning the area. There's apparently the ability to have phone calls and other interaction via the robot, which I think is a bit overboard, but I didn't design it. Overall, this is a solid device that seems to work at least as good as the competition. Is it worth the hefty price tag? I think that depends on what your needs are.
The Deebot X1 OMNI is the current flagship robot vacuum from Ecovacs. Intended to be an all-in-one solution that vacuums and mops, with the added convenience of hand-free maintenance, it mostly delivers. The OMNI base station arrives assembled. To set it up, simply remove it from the box, remove the bits of packaging, and plug it in with the included 6ft power cord. Inside the base station, there are 2 water storage tanks (1 for clean water and 1 for waste water), the dust collection system, and various bits like a cleaning brush and extra mopping pads. Overall, the base station is mammoth. It has a foot print of 16” x 18”, but then stands a full 23” tall. There is no hiding this thing. Overall, the base station is mammoth. It has a foot print of 16” x 18”, but then stands a full 23” tall. There is no hiding this thing. The water storage tanks hold a smidge over 1 gal each and have a quality feel to them. The dust collection system utilizes proprietary bags rather than a dust bin. Continuing the setup, the Deebot itself requires a little more setup. Remove the various bits of packaging from the bot, snap its color-coded side brushes into place, mount the mop heads (if you plan to use them at this time) then set it to charge in the base. The bot is 13.5” in diameter and stands 4” tall. The main power switch, a reset button, and the on-board dust bin are hidden beneath a removable, magnetically mounted lid on top of the bot. With the app installed and using the default settings, vacuum effectiveness on the various flooring types, including hardwood and short pile area rugs, was satisfactory, picking up everything from spilled flour to copious amounts of dog hair. Mopping effectiveness was more of a mixed bag: We have an engineered floor with an uneven surface. When the bot traveled the length of the boards, it made good contact and cleaned well. But when it traveled across boards, it tended to only contact the high spots. Scheduled tasks ran reliably and overall operation was quiet and did not disturb us despite the bot working right outside our first floor master bedroom. Also, compared to our previous Ozmo T5, thanks to its robust sensor array, the X1 bumps into objects far less. A few other thoughts and opinions: - Despite the large size of the OMNI base station, there is no place to stow things like the mop heads when not in use or even just the multi-function cleaning tool. - I still have to service the bot after each cleaning, despite its supposed hands-free nature. I have 2 Golden Retrievers and hair wraps around both the leading universal wheel and the main brush. - The AUTO mode/power button on the front of the bot is not actually a physical button but rather a touch sensor. Because of this, several times the robot has started cleaning unexpectedly because a curious dog sniffed the bot in just the right spot. It does not have a child like, like the OMNI base does. - I really, really, really don’t like that the dust collection system requires bags. I haven’t had to buy vacuum bags in over 10-15 years. This just seems like a step backwards. - I don’t need another voice assistant (Yiko) listening to my conversations. I disabled this right out of the gate.
First, I wanted to mention that I'm a blind person so I will be describing the purchase, set up , and use of this robot without sight. I have a little bit of vision, enough to see light and dark and some objects but I can't read print or see most colors. I decided to go with the plus version of the X1 since mopping really wasn't a big priority for me, I do have all hard floors but don't have any pets and I usually don't have issues with stains on my floor. Also I have heard that the stations for the turbo and omni models are quite large. I did require sighted help to purchase the robot on the Ecovacs web site. Since I can't read the computer screen I use a screen reader which allows a person to read and interact with the computer using speech. Also I have heard that the stations for the turbo and omni models are quite large. I did require sighted help to purchase the robot on the Ecovacs web site. Since I can't read the computer screen I use a screen reader which allows a person to read and interact with the computer using speech. On the last page of the ordering process, there is a check box that you need to select to agree to the terms before clicking the "place order" button. I was not able to check the option and had to get sighted help for this. I have notified Ecovacs about this issue and hopefully this is something that they will resolve with their site. After taking everything out of the box, I was able to identify everything by touch. I do have a small robot vacuum collection, this is my ninth robot so I'm familiar with how they work and the set up process. This robot has two side brushes and they are different colors. I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly, I had enough vision to tell that one brush was lighter than the other one, and I noticed the same thing on the robot so I matched them up that way, however, someone who has no vision at all could definitely have a problem. From what I can tell, it would have been possible to install the brushes in the wrong place, I'm not sure if this would cause a major problem but I would suggest that Ecovacs change this so it's only possible to install the brush in the correct place, unless reversing them would not really cause a problem, both of my side brushes are definitely spinning so I'm assuming it's fine. I use an iphone and it has a built in screen reader called Voiceover that allows a blind person to use the touch screen without seeing it. Depending on how an application is developed, it may or may not read well. The Ecovacs home app works well with Voiceover. I didn't bother trying to scan the bar code, I just opened the app store and downloaded the app that way. I already had an account that I created when I purchased the robot and I was able to log in to this account in the app. I did run in to either a bug or a design flaw when trying to connect the X1 Plus to my network, I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or if it can be corrected in software but at first the robot could not find my network. It turns out that the robot will not work if the network is hidden, that is, the router does not broadcast the network name. I had my network set as hidden for added security but I had to change this in order for the robot to connect to my network, none of my other devices have this issue. Once I changed my router to broadcast the network name the rest of the set up worked fine. I had no problem changing the robot settings in the app, I prefer to use the maximum power the robot has, if the power is available, why not use it for a better clean? I'm not sure if Ecovacs thought of this but the Yiko voice assistant might be very useful for someone who has a disability related to motor skills which could prevent them from holding or using a mobile device to run the app. Once the robot is set up, the voice assistant can be used to access most of the robot features. In conclusion, I would say this is a great robot, I was able to set it up without any sighted help, hopefully the issue I mentioned with the web site can be addressed and if possible, fix the issue so the robot works with hidden wi-fi networks. The robot cleans really well and it's a robot that I would definitely recommend.
Have had my Deebot X1 OMNI for over 6 months now and overall, I would rate it highly, however, minor flaws have caused me to give it a 4 star rating. Quality: Modern design, slightly bulky dock, but this is due to the water tanks for both dirty and clean water, as well as the vaccumm bag and accessories. I wanted a complete hands free robot, so thats what i got. That being said, it isn't an eye sore. The app is easy to use, setup is a breeze and the ability to change mopping and vaccumm functions IE amount of water, vaccumm suction power and whether you want a simple or deep clean is an awesome feature. Accessories are relatively cheap and if you make an account on their website you will accru monetary credits for every clean you do. The video manager has flaws, you need to be on your own local WIFI for it to work, and it lags really bad. Mine does anyway. I haven't bothered to try fix it as I don't use the function. The YIKO voice activation is extremely hard to use, that being said they are now rolling out third part voice activation for Google and Alexa etc. The only other thing I would add for quality is that, these things aren't meant to stop. What do I mean by that. If you go on a holiday for anything over 3-5 days, I would suggest at lease getting it to do a minor clean while your away. Because any excess water that has accumulated in the pump will dry and if there is debris it will harden and block the pipes. Which happened to mine. A simple flush fixed the problem however. If you run into any problems with this thing, a simple reset is all it needs. Yes it's a hassle to have to remap your surrounds, but it's better then losing the machine for a month while they investigate a simple fault.
