Elac Debut 2.0 F5.2 Floorstanding Speakers-Black
At the very heart of a serious sound system. With its new custom drivers and improved cabinet design the Debut F5.2 is the foundation of a serious two–channel system or the nucleus of an impressive multi–channel setup. Add an app–enabled ELAC subwoofer and you have a full–range system that delivers big–league sound affordably. All–New Design—All–New Debut! Everything about Debut 2.0 has been improved including completely redesigned custom drivers that deliver greater accuracy and robust cabinets for even higher resolution and freedom from resonances. New Tweeter with Wide–Dispersion Waveguide A new silk–dome tweeter features a wide–roll surround and takes response up to 35 000 Hz for even more lifelike high frequencies. The waveguide improves directivity control and eliminates the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures. New Woven Aramid–Fiber Woofers The revised shape of the aramid cones offers even greater stiffness and damping far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother extended low–frequency response. New Larger Cabinets Thick MDF cabinets with a luxurious black ash vinyl finish are larger and incorporate specially designed internal bracing to add stiffness and strength. This bracing greatly reduces cabinet vibrations that cause unwanted coloration to the sound. Because the only parts of a speaker that should be moving are the speaker drivers themselves.

I have had High End speakers for years. I bought these for my son who is an active duty Marine soon to be out of service. These compare and pass my 12 year old 805 signatures!

I wanted to like these, I really did. I purchased the center speaker of the ELAC debut 2.0 series and it was a signicant improvement over the Sony core center speaker it replaced. I was impressed with the clarity and lack of distortion at high volumes (set to small) of that center speaker that I was exited to try the larger floor model.Compared to my 12” Fischer tower speakers from 1994, these were clear but started to distort at higher volumes (have a Yamaha tsr-8750 behind it all) and that didn’t sit well with my ears. Prior I had a Sony 4K receiver and the Sony core tower speakers (Scss-3) and maxing out the amp didn’t distort any sounds (except making the listener temporarily deaf). Perhaps the amp is too strong but for whatever the reason I didn’t like them. ... MoreI wanted to like these, I really did. Those Sony towers are my go to for clear music and movies.Don’t consider myself an audiophile as I don’t have 20k speakers in my home, but at least I would like to have my chest rumble with the beats.

Was looking for audio speakers for the system tied into the computer, tuner, everything else that wasn't tied to the home theatre system. These are perfect. Clean sound, clean bass.
Bought this as part of my home theater system. ELAC just sounded the best for home theater - vocals were clear and weren't drowned out by special fx sounds. This floor speaker was the perfect size and look - not too big and the style was simple and easy to work into the overall look of our living room.
I purchased these on a whim. Replacing some 10 year-old British speakers no longer made. I am returning back to them after four months with these, a matching center and the Atmos A4.2s. I will move these to my master bedroom late night theater.I was not impressed at first listen. They sound dull, weak and lifeless. After break-in, little improvement in sound. I have adequate power and a quality receiver (Marantz SR6011). I have also tried another high power Sony ES amp as a source. Movies, streaming 4K, online music, and CDs, as sources left me missing my old set-up.The speakers have lower sensitivity, so I compensated with higher channel levels but their output seems much less dynamic. Missing bass completely, I even verified all drivers were active to be sure. I ... MoreI purchased these on a whim. Replacing some 10 year-old British speakers no longer made. Missing bass completely, I even verified all drivers were active to be sure. I did run full range with no sub and there is no lower bass. These remind me of the rack system speakers from the '70s and '80s but no bass. I'm hoping using as a late night theater in the Master, I can accept their faults. The Elac sound is over-hyped and overall, I can't recommend to anyone. I did get them at a bargain price, that's why I kept them.
The sound quality of the speakers are awesome and not space consuming.
