Great for playdough. Woolworths Essentials Table Salt 1kg was easy to find in the shop and is only 95c, you can’t argue with that. The packaging is basic as you can see and does not come in a resealable package. I refilled my empty Saxa container once I had opened it. I would prefer this Woolworths product to be in a sealable container and pay a little more for it, something that made the salt pourable, like the Woolworths essentials iodised table salt. I found the salt to taste the same as the other brand. It has fine crystals and is not lumpy. I used it in my normal cooking then made some blue playdough for my grand children. This uses a cup of salt, and 1kg is a lot of salt to use. I usually buy iodised salt to ensure I get enough iodine in my diet and prevent ... MoreGreat for playdough. I would be more likely to purchase the 500g essentials iodised table salt in the shaker in the future, still cheap at 90c, for cooking purposes, but happy to buy this product for making playdough. It is great that it is made in Australia (98%).

Australian product. Very handy product to have on hand although I don't use much salt either on food or in cooking. The thing I mostly use this for is making playdough. The end result is just as good as if I'd used more expensive products. At $1. 20 for a kilogram bag and an Australian product to boot, I think this is a great product.

A Pantry Staple Must Have. This essentials table salt is a very versatile Aussie product. Great as a table salt or to add seasoning to your cooking. The 1 kg bag is perfect size and the price for under $1. 00 is fabulous. Salt has many uses around the home - here is some I use salt forCleaning the chopping boards, salt & lemon Cleaning the sink, salt & lemon Salted water to gargle for sore throats, mouth infections, etcDrop an egg pour on some salt and it makes cleaning it up easier. Great for when dying fabrics. And for the kiddies, make some play dough. This product was easily found near the herbs and spices aisle and the plain blue packet is a stand out. I highly recommend this product.

Useful pantry staple... I don't usually purchase our salt in such large sizes & it's taking months to work our way through this sample pack. We haven't noticed any difference in the taste or quality of our table salt since switching from more expensive brand to this more economical one. The fine grain of this salt makes is very suitable for use in our small multi-holed salt shaker; as well as for use in cooking where larger quantities are needed. I will probably continue to purchase my salt in this version from now on.

How can you go wrong with salt?! Tasted like salt should. Looked like salt should. Can’t fault this salt. Pleased that it is made from 98% Australian ingredients although perplexed as to what other ingredients there could be in salt! It’s the anti-caking agent. So it would be good if that could also be sourced from Australia!1kg package is quite large and will likely take me many years to get through if only used for cooking. So I think I’ll have to use it for laundry purposes such as soaking up stains from the carpet. A comment to make is that you would need to seal this package well or transfer the salt to a sealed container once opened otherwise it will easily absorb moisture.

Good value salt. It's salt, plain and simple, and cheap. Does everything that salt should do. I would prefer a resealable pack, but at under a $1 for a kilogram, it's a good deal anyway. As you know, salt is great for absorbing spilled grease or a broken egg in the kitchen. But there is another use you may not know - stopping cut fingers from bleeding!I've used this trick several times (on myself and others), even with scary-bad finger cuts. ** I am not a doctor, the following is my own experience, you need to decide if it suitable for you and your situation. **If you slice your finger with a knife, pop your finger into a cup or glass, and fill with salt until the cut is covered. Don't be in a hurry to taker it out. leave for 20 - 30 minutes, to make sure the bleeding has really stopped, then wipe it and dress it. It it is bad enough to need stitches, just leave your finger in the salt and get someone to drive you for help.

Just like other brands. Wow that's a lifetime supply of salt for my family lol! I use salt sparingly but I do like in on Woolworths Chunky Steakhouse Chips. As others have mentioned once opened the salt needs to be stored in an air tight container. The salt doesn't taste any different than the brand I usually buy for baking but I have no need for that quantity of salt. I prefer rock salt for cooking. I will use it to make 'Play Dough' when school goes back. I got this recipe from my son's Kindergarten.... PLAY DOUGH1 cup S. R. Flour1 cup water1/2 cup salt2 tablespoons oil2 tablespoons cream of tartarfood colouringMix all ingredients together. Cook over low heat 3 to 5 mins stirring continuously. Really nice to play with warm.

Same as any other brands. I decided to make eggplant in olive oil and oregano and place them in jars, the first step is to cut up the eggplants and put salt all over them to drain out the excess moisture, leave overnight. I prepared the eggplants like normal and the salt did the job like any other salt, better than the more expensive brands. I then added salt to some home made minestrone and the taste was ideal. The essentials brand which is an Australian brand which is a plus is starting to make an impression on me because I have changed to this brand for quite a few items. Thanks bunch for giving me the chance to review another great item. I will be buying this table salt again (but not for a while because this will last me for a while still)

Cheap. Woolworths Essentials Table Salt 1kgPrice: 90c for 1kgInstore Location: With the spices, condiments etc. Packaging: Easy to recognise the design on the store shelf but I was looking for a slightly 'lighter' blue bag .... and a paper one! The packaging is actually made of plastic, non-recyclable, to be disposed of in a garbage bin! Very surprised the packet wasn't marked that you could recycle it. Made: In Australia from at least 98% Australian ingredients Ingredients:- Sea Salt (guessing this is the 98% Aussie component)- Ant-caking agent 554 (sodium aluminosilicate - guessing this is the non-Australian component) * I rifled through other salt containers in my pantry and discovered that some of them contain anti-caking agents and some of them do not. A quick Google tells me that 554 is non-harmful* Also some of the other salt in my pantry is iodised but not all. Consuming iodised salt is apparently the easiest way for people to maintain healthy iodine levels in the body. With salt being added to so many processed foods these days, the need to add it to table salt has probably lessened. Health Star Rating: Not on packet, but as we use mainly salt for non-food purposes, it didn't worry me too much that it was not available. Life: Purchased 21 Dec 2019. Best Before Date is 3 Oct 2021. I wasn't really aware that salt could 'go off or deteriorate. Research tells me that iodised salt deteriorates faster than sea-salt. Overall, salt 'lasts forever' but the flavour can diminish and if iodione is added, then that substance can deteriorate over time. General: We don't add salt to our food, so it isn't something I buy often. The packets we have in our cupboards are the result of a family member using it to assist a dental issue .... and me using it occasionally to clean cutting boards and also deal with clothing stains in the laundry. This Woolworths Essential salt is pretty much like any other table salt that I have tasted. The grain size was good. I will probably keep this packet in the laundry for it's cleaning benefits. Overall: Good price for such a large amount of salt. Would buy again, but I query the plastic packaging as it is a recycling issue. It loses two stars for the plastic
