I have an old model of this same sharpener that I wanted to replace. The new one looks very much like the old one but when I went to use it it was more like using a very course file on my knife instead of a diamond sharpener. The reason I have kept the one I have for many years is that it always gave me the finish to my sharpening efforts and a great touch-up. There is no way I would ever use this on any of my good knives except maybe to begin the sharpening process and I have better stones for that. Save your money, there are much better touch-up sharpeners on the market.

This sharpener is small, compact and very handy. I've used a lot of sharpeners and this is the one I carry in my pack, my kitchen knife drawer and my EDC. That's why I bought three at once. It puts a fast, sharp edge on even hard to sharpen stainless steel. I have a small Gerber Clutch I use daily and the edge is the first thing to go because I use it to pry things open as well as cut stuff. The Eze-Lap makes the edge like factory new in seconds. All for less space than a ball point pen takes up. If you need sharp things, get one. Or three.

Purchased my first several years ago, mainly because of it's convenience. I soon realized that this is a seriously effective tool. Blade serrations sharpen like new, as well as blade length. Fits easily on pocket, backpack or tackle box. I always keep one extra in case I lose one.Groove is excellent for fish hooks and other finer instruments.
I have used these things for many years. Some how in the moves across the country I lost the one I got 16 years ago. Great value and a vey important part of a serious fishermans' tools!. Makes the value of hooks more desirable because even brand new hooks are not always sharp enough to do the job.

I have used these for over 30 years. Unlike a hook file, which will get rusty from the water on the hook, this abrasive actually benefits from the wet-hone effect. The rest of the surface makes it easy to sharpen your pocket knife or other edges as well.
I purchased this item to touch up musky hooks. The item does a nice job. I am concerned about the longevity of the item, but that is only because I am using it for very large hooks. I plan on purchasing another to use for bass and pike lures. The file does what it is supposed to. Sharper hooks equals more fish.
When U fish u need snips to trim your line and u need this to keep ur hooks sharp. If u get bites or bumps u probably have dull hooks. 99% of my grabs equal fish hooked! This is a must have unless u r just using fishing as an excuse to drink beer.
