We bought this about a month ago and the shred is good nice small pieces and not overly noisy. However, it can not do more than 4 sheets of paper at a time or it will jam. When trying to feed in large volumes you have to wait after each set of pages for it to stop completely before adding anymore, it runs on for a while trying to clear the cutters. If you don't wait it will jam. It's very disappointing and not as per the specification. Perhaps 12 sheets of tissue paper. We use a disposable bamboo knife to clear the slot after it jams (turn the power off first). It will reverse and you can remove the paper but this will cause the fine cut paper to build up and block the slot.

I recently purchased a Fellowes Shredder at Target. My first one gave out with use so, I upgraded and bought the one with the removable compartment to empty. I was really pleased to receive it in the mail from Target until I opened the box and put it together. I have arthritis in both hands and wasn't expecting the top of the unit to be so heavy. As I tried to put the top part on the unit it slipped out of my hands and cracked the bottom of the unit where the bin slides into. If the package had told me how heavy it was going to be I would have had a neighbor help me given the arthritis in my hands. I just feel you need to be aware of this for the packaging of your paper shredder.

Lasted 2 years then the motor stopped working. This was for my home office to shred bills, papers, junk mail. I used it a few times a month, emptied the bin often and didn't run it until it overheated. Purchased 12/2020, 1/2023 the shredder began having difficulty shredding 1 piece of paper, it would over temp shutdown after 4-5 single sheets. Called Fellows because they give a 3 year warranty on the motor and I got a huge run around. Fellows customer support asked me a bunch of questions and whatever my answer, I was operating the machine wrong. I read the owner manual it says to oil with Fellowes shredder oil, I do that, but I do it wrong and not enough. CS claims I'm supposed to oil everytime the basket is half-full. I have the shredder plugged into a surge ... MoreLasted 2 years then the motor stopped working. This was for my home office to shred bills, papers, junk mail. OK machine, terrible customer support, all of the questions they asked made sure to cover them, I don't think it would have mattered how I answered, it would have been wrong.

We owned a previous Fellowes shredder for over 10 years and it was fabulous! Sadly, it finally gave up the ghost. We replaced it with the P-30C, which shreds to a much finer degree than our previous shredder. However, it cannot handle more than one sheet at a time, it can't run for more than about 10 to 15 sheets before it has to stop for a 40 minute break (as told in the instruction booklet), and paper is continually caught up in the blades and has to constantly be cleaned out in order to keep running. The motor sounds like it is about ready to die every time I use it. Emptying the bin is a very messy process with paper bits and dust going everywhere. It is a huge disappointment! i needed a small shredder that does cross cut. this does fulfill that need. however i picked this one because it had some extra features that appealed to me such as able to shred credit cards and CDs. however when i received the unit, the user manual said that it cannot do these things. in fact the user manual indicated that the function of this unit is very limited compared with what i saw advertised on the website. i took a screenshot of what was advertised as well, to prove what i saw at the time of purchase, in case someone decides to change it later. what im wondering is if i received a shredder that was an older version of this model as the manufacturing date was over a year old. im a bit annoyed, but i decided to keep it. buyer beware if youre interested in ... Morei needed a small shredder that does cross cut. this does fulfill that need. however i picked this one because it had some extra features that appealed to me such as able to shred credit cards and CDs. however when i received the unit, the user manual said that it cannot do these things. in fact the user manual indicated that the function of this unit is very limited compared with what i saw advertised on the website. i took a screenshot of what was advertised as well, to prove what i saw at the time of purchase, in case someone decides to change it later. what im wondering is if i received a shredder that was an older version of this model as the manufacturing date was over a year old. im a bit annoyed, but i decided to keep it. buyer beware if youre interested in this shredder for those features, as the only thing it really can do is cut 6 sheets of paper at a time.
I got this a few weeks ago and decided to use it for the first time today. It does cut fine so that is good. It struggles with 6 sheets so had to go down to 5 But it overheated within 2 minutes of continuous use. So don't believe the medium-sized shredding in one sitting statement or up to 5 minutes before a cool down is needed. This is going to take what should have been a 5 minute job and turn it into 3 sessions with cool downs in between. And it is very hot and smells like melted plastic, so no telling how long it is going to take to cool down or if it's even going to be okay to use. I'm not going to do more than a few at a time when it does because this does not seem safe to me at all. It's been about 10 minutes and still waiting. I recently purchased my Fellowes Power-shred 6C Cross-cut, personal home use shredder and have only utilized it on one occasion. What I can share is that the 6C Cross-cut did an admirable job eating through a pretty significant pile of personal documents. I ultimately discovered that it worked at its optimum when I shredded a maximum of two (2) pages. The company description states that it can comfortably handle up to six (6) pages, but whenever I attempted to enter 4, 5 or 6 pages the cutting mechanism became jammed up and would not function. Despite only being able to shred a couple docs at a time I am very pleased with the pulverized paper upon completion. Top security / No piecing a document back together.
In your advertisement of this shredder it says it can shred CDs. However, on page one of the manual, it says not to shred CDs. Which is it How can you advertise a feature and then suggest you not use that feature Also the cross cut on the shredder leaves a lot to be desired. It looks like a strip cut with each strip being torn into only three or four pieces. The pieces are much too large for my peace of mind. I will use an ink roller to black out the most important information, but my point in buying a new shredder was so I would not have to do this. My old shredder cut much smaller pieces. I will stick to that brand, not this one. Very disappointing.
I purchased this Microshred 62MC back in August, 2020 to replace a Royal brand shredder that had become inoperable; the Fellowes Microshred 62MC is a far superior shredder--the best one that I have ever owned! I have never had a jam, even when trying to shred as-much-as 20 stapled sheets of paper, credit cards or similar plastic material. This shredder has a large capacity, is very easy to empty, and I reuse the included Waste Bag so I don't have to keep buying new ones. They key to good performance and longevity is to perform proper maintenance; that is to remove any paper shards from the Cutters (from my experience, there really isn't too much residue) and lubricate the Cutters with a high quality vegetable based lubricant that is specifically designed for shredders.
I purchased this shredder for personal use at home. I was taken in by the good reviews and did not bother to read the poor reviews but wished I had. Whilst this shredder did not cost a fortune it failed to deliver on expectation. Although the spec says it can take up to 6 sheets, it seemed to struggle to accept 2 sheets of normal paper so only fed one sheet at a time but still unhappy with how it performed. Paper built up around the cutting teeth and did not fall freely into the waste bin, meaning within less than the 3 minutes operating time, I had to pull paper from the teeth in order to shred further paper. I also found a fair amount of dust built up both in the tray and round the teeth and where you feed the paper in.
