A good small shredder for the price

Shreds well but best with one page at a time. Very good with credit cards. Doesn’t seem to jam-up with shredded paper the way my previous one did. It remains to be seen whether the good performance is sustained. The one major irritation is that the carrying indentations lift only the shredding lid part, so you have awkwardly to clutch the bin if you want to move the shredder in and out of storage.

The shredder was simple to set up and start work with. I did not exceed the recommended maximum number of pages, as I only had a small amount to shred. It worked very well and the collecting basket filled quite quickly with small pieces of paper. I thought I would shed my last bundle of 4 or 5 pages when it managed to pick up some of the already shredded paper in the rollers, causing it to jam. I switched it off, unplugged it and picked most of the jammed paper out of the cutters, then after emptying the container ran it in reverse a few times to free the remainder of the backlog. A single sheet fed through produced no residue in the cutters.Another thing to watch out for is feeding the paper through so that it does not fold over on the sides. An Excellent Compact Shredder

As a business owner and a PhD student, I generate a large amount of documentation that requires secure disposal, and the Powershred 8C shredder is the perfect quiet, compact and budget-friendly solution for that. It was so perfect that I bought 2! The 8c's small size allows it to easily fit beneath both my home and office desks without taking up too much room while remaining easily accessible. The feature I enjoy most about the 8C is that it provides crosscut shredding. Not only does the crosscutting add to the security level of disposal, but it also makes efficient use of its small bin size. You'd expect with such a small form factor shredder that you'd be constantly having to empty the bin, however, this is not the case with the 8C as the small shred particle size ... MoreAs a business owner and a PhD student, I generate a large amount of documentation that requires secure disposal, and the Powershred 8C shredder is the perfect quiet, compact and budget-friendly solution for that. Great Shredder once you get use to operating it.
18 May 2022

Brought about a month ago and it has been worked quite hard so far.Initially kept getting blocked until I realised it was caused through using the back cycle to long. The key is don't put loads of paper through in one go, keep compressing the paper in the bin which like most shredders is not big enough and only use the back switch for a second or 2 before going forwards again. Once you have mastered it the shredder will run for ages before the thermal cut out kicks in.

Ideal small home /office shredder
4 May 2022

Good quality small home shredder, quiet in operation and efficient, shreds as specified up to eight pages, credit cards and staples.. You have to empty the waste container more often however not a major issue. Thus far with works fine it has a red overheat light, green on function and the lock mechanism is a good idea. This is medium /light duty shredder however it is working fine if used as recommended. Happily i would recommend this item to those in a small home office environment.

Lasted less than a month
20 April 2022

I purchased this M-8C Shredder to replace a M-8C Shredder I'd bought 3 years previously which I was really happy with. I realised when I unpacked it despite looking the same it was very different; very flimsy and light. I probably emptied about 3 bins of shreddings before it stopped working altogether. I'm using it in exactly the same way as my previous one; including oiling it as specified and that one lasted over 3 years and got a fair bit of use.. I wouldn't recommend it.

Love this great shredder
14 June 2023

I have purchased many shredders in the past. This shredder is perfect in that it is space saving, very quiet, minces my paper, and is easy to use. It is a little workhorse and never wears out on me. I love this powerful, quiet little shredder and will purchase it again when the time comes.

Not even close to advertised spec.
16 December 2020

Seeking an upgrade I bought this shredder attracted by it's 8 sheet capacity, US brand and non-jamming mechanism. How disappointing in reality: it struggles with four sheets of 80gsm, it is made in China and it jams like crazy. The cutters are housed in a plastic cassette with serious potential for jamming, necessitating a mix of tools, running in reverse and hope to clear it. It has improved slightly with use and lubrication which suggests the cutters may self-sharpen but arrive blunt. The container has a useless window which serves to weaken it. It hasn't broken yet; I use it with a maximum of 3 sheets, briefly reverse every ten passes or so to clear the cassette, and lubricate with veg oil more than seems reasonable.

Not the best
5 December 2022

Bought this shredder to replace a previous Fellowes shredder and disappointed in its performance. Paper keeps clogging the cutter bar despite being regularly oiled with shredder oil. Have to remove the head every so often and manually release the cut paper so that it doesn't jam, and break, the cutter housing. Never had any problems like this before. Would like to return and get my money back.

Shredders are always a compromise between speed and load
1 December 2021

Shredders are always a compromise between speed and load. This one is no exception! It is much better than the cheaper ones that shred only a few pages. This one is designed for 8 pages, which it will handle well. I prefer using it for 4 pages, as it will speed up the process and avoids overheating too early. It this rate, I can sort and shred almost continually. Also note that like all other shredders, the cutter needs to be lubricated periodically. That will prevent jamming and early wear of the blades. Also, like other shredders, it ius a good practice to keep an eye on the bucket and stop shredding to empty it, ratheer than continuing, which will stop the shredder too early.I like this size as it will do most of my office chores and can handle my old tax files ... MoreShredders are always a compromise between speed and load. This one is no exception!
