I have been beyond pleasantly surprised with this lens. The quality is what I have come to expect from Fuji GF primes and I am scratching my head why I would buy a prime that overlaps in focal distance with this zoom. I use the lens for a variety of purposes from architecture to portraits and have even used it with the macro extension tubes and it never fails to produce a great image. A couple items I think are exceptional about this lens. First - the contrast I get when I use this is the best of any camera I have ever used including Leica and my old Zeiss equipped Hasselblad. Phenomenal. Second - the lens is incredibly sharp. I have been shocked at what I have been able to see in clear detail when zooming in on pics I have taken with this lens. The clear focus ... After falling and losing camera and lens, I chose this lens again.Smooth controls, accurate optics.Tip not elsewhere seen re CPL:On the previous lens i tried Hoya, and Moose (manufactured i believe by Hoya) I found the lens shade clearance made filter setting very difficult on both filters, to the extreme of removing the lens shade, adjusting the CPL the replacing the lens shade! absurd, even with a tripod used every shot. This time i bought a B+W, operates smoothly and easily while the lens hood remains in place, part a smoother action, part because of ergonomic surfacing of not just the side, but the front of the ring.Yes, it is a beast.

I have been taking pictures since I was a young child, and I have owned many cameras during my life, from my first Kodak box camera to my current Nikon D850, and many others. Fujifilm's announcement of the release of the GFX100s coincided roughly with my 65th birthday and my retirement from the full time practice of law, so I decided to get myself a present and try and expand to medium format.I received my GFX100s and the GF32-64 just three days ago. The image quality out of this zoom lens is better than many premium, prime lenses I have used. The images are razor sharp from corner to corner, the contrast is stunning, the color amazing and the distortion is minimal. The images that the GFX 100s and this lens produce are beautiful, stunning, spectacular and mind blowing. This camera/lens combination is capable of producing images and prints that are as, if not more, spectacular than large frame film cameras. I have seen many original Ansel Adams prints in museums. The Center for Creative Photography in Tucson was just a few blocks down the street from my apartment when I was in law school. The images that this camera and lens can produce are that good. The images just POP. Period.
I've had an exceptional experience using the FUJIFILM GF32-64mm f/4 R LM WR Lens with my Fujifilm 100S. Its fast focusing and razor-sharp performance make it the ideal all-around lens for various photography genres, including walk-around, travel, landscapes, and portraits.T op-notch lens for all purposes
I have been using this lens for 5 months now and feel very confident in its build quality, sharpness and usability. I have shot with medium format digital since 2005 with the Hasselblad H series and also the X series, and I was a little concerned about a zoom lens. But I also like how versatile my Canon 24-70mm is, so with some recommendations from sales people and reviews, I thought I would buy this and the 110mm. I shoot fashion, celebrity and portraits. No regrets. I haven't really checked its sharpness as different settings or compared it directly in any meaningful way with my other cameras. but I also don't feel the need to. After 5 months, the lens is great. I don't worry about any subjects or settings, and think the sharpness on my photos is excellent. I pair ... I love this lens. It's bright and sharp and is the lens that spends most time actually attached to my camera. I would liken it to a good medium zoom, think 24-70, 2.8 (although its only the equivalent of about 50mm zoomed in). I use it for assignments, for architecture, general purpose and travel. Its just about OK for portraits but not quite. I'd have to grab one of my other lenses for serious portraiture. It feels solid and well built and made to last. With the new 35-70mm out on the market (I have not tried it), I hear many photographers are buying that lens instead, but this is proven, sharp and bright, so thats why I'm hanging on to it.For the GFX system, in my opinion, I'd say this is one of the top 3 lenses to have in your bag.
Because of the higher entry cost for entering into the medium format ecosystem, this is (so far) the only lens I have for my new GFX 100s camera--but it's plenty! It covers most of the focal ranges I typically shoot in and it's fast, clear, and offers FANTASTIC image quality on my body. Coming from the Canon ecosystem, it was initially strange to have the aperture ring on the lens like this--and I still accidentally mistake it for the zoom ring at times--but I love how in-control I feel having it there. It's a great size and weight for the body and balances well both in my hand and on a tripod. Focusing seems really fast and silent. I'm really loving this lens so far!
Don't get me wrong, this lens is magnificent. Its image quality is unmatched, and that's definitely the most important aspect of a lens. It is very sharp even wide open. That said, I feel it's a bit overpriced for what you get, but I'll start with the positives.THE GOOD:- As I said, the image quality is superb. f/16 renders an incredible amount of detail. I have not experienced softness shooting wide open like a few of other reviewers have.- This lens is weather sealed. As a landscape photographer, this is a must. I feel more confident being in the field (literally) knowing my lens can get a little bit wet.- Build quality is pretty good. It's still plastic, but a tougher one by the feel of it. I imagine they opted for plastic construction to cut down on both ... MoreDon't get me wrong, this lens is magnificent. I feel more confident being in the field (literally) knowing my lens can get a little bit wet.- Build quality is pretty good. It's still plastic, but a tougher one by the feel of it. I imagine they opted for plastic construction to cut down on both weight and cost, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed it wasn't metal. The Fuji X system spoiled me in that regard.- The feel of the lens is solid and tactile. The zoom has good resistance and has no lens creep (yet) and the aperture ring has a pleasant click. The NOT SO GOOD:- I know this is a larger lens to accommodate the larger sensor but more glass alone shouldn't equate to a high price tag. It has no image stabilization, zoom lock, or even fast aperture to justify the price. The only notable feature this has apart from the optics is the weather sealing. At least they gave us that. But otherwise, this is a $2,300 bare bones basic slower zoom lens. They could've at least given us OIS to help with the slower f/4 aperture. A tripod is most likely necessary with anything slower than 1/60, realistically. You could probably cheat it to 1/30 but you'd have to have a very steady hand.- This isn't really a negative, technically, but it isn't a positive either. This is a very heavy lens. It makes my 50R nosedive and it is not very comfortable to walk around with it around my neck. Like I said, it's not really a negative or a positive, though. It's just part of the territory of owning a medium format system. Bigger sensors requires bigger lenses to cover it. More glass means more weight. So take that for what it is.OVERALL:Overall I like the lens. Many of the negatives don't really affect me because I'm mostly a landscape photographer so my camera is always on a tripod, eliminating the need for OIS, weight relief, and a wider aperture. But those few times I am not shooting landscapes, I do wish I had those other features. Someone who will be using this for studio work and will need to hand hold, however, may need to consider those aspects before purchasing.
This is a near perfect lens as near as I can tell. It's razor sharp wide open, with beautiful color rendering and at longer focal lengths still manages to produce some nice bokeh at low apertures. An it focuses relatively fast compared to the rest of the GF line that I've shot with. I shoot mostly portraits with my GFX but I bought this lens for some personal shooting I plan to do later in the year. That said I haven't put the lens through it's paces yet so to speak, but from what I have shot so far, I think it's among the best performing lenses I've ever owned on any system. The only weakness is that it isn't wider, but that's not a real critique of this lens and more just my general dissatisfaction that there is so much overlap in the two GF zooms and no truly ...
