I bought this RAM after I had disappointing results with the older one I was using (Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200). This GSkill ram is not only faster at 3600 Mhz, its also very stable. I installed it on an ASUS ROG Crosshair Hero VIII motherboard paired with the AMD 3950X and this is a beast! Very stable for the last few months and my Cinebench scores went up e to the faster speed. To enable 3600 Mhz, make sure you go to the BIOS and AMD settings and enable DOCP (Direct Over Clock Profile). This works much better than XMP.Now when it comes to aesthetics, this RAM is beautiful with the RGB lighting. The only con I can think of is that the top part of the RAM is extremely sharp. Good RAM, especially for a Ryzen system. I’m currently using it for a new Intel build though. It’s not 16-16-16-36 B-die (which Gskill also sells for $40 more) but it is still low latency CL16 RAM and more than satisfactory if you aren’t doing extreme overclocking. Never was a huge fan of RGB memory to begin with, but I’d figure I would jump on the bandwagon. It looks pretty good, although the LEDs could transition a bit smoother. And watch out for the sharp edges on the heat spreaders.

Parting together a new PC to replace my old i7-4790k system. CL16 3600 is considered a pretty good sweet spot for Ryzen 5000 series, so getting a set on a pretty good discount was nice.Like the dual tone look, and RGB customizability is a first coming from middling DDR3 sticks.sticks run at rated speeds in testing without any instability. It does what it says it does, that pretty much says it all.

For Zen and Zen+, Ryzen users were stuck using a handful of DDR4 3200 kits for best performance. Ryzen 3000 and 5000 have better memory controllers and better support from memory manufactures. The particular kit caught my eye because it's 3600MHz with tight 16-16-16-36 timings. Some video games out there are really sensitive to RAM speeds, so aren't, but for me, I gained over 10fps in Fallout 76 when I upgraded from a slower Team kit. CL14 3600MHz is pricey, so 3600 CL16 was a nice middle ground. I've had zero issues with the kit I bought, and it's nice to know there's a lifetime warranty offered on these sticks too. One gripe I have about these RGB kits is that the LEDs are always falling out of sync on each stick, and I've never found a way to fix that. ... MoreFor Zen and Zen+, Ryzen users were stuck using a handful of DDR4 3200 kits for best performance. One gripe I have about these RGB kits is that the LEDs are always falling out of sync on each stick, and I've never found a way to fix that. Occasionally the RBG software resets the LEDs so they're in sync again, but that only lasts a few seconds until the next reset... DDR4 wasn't designed with addressable RGB on memory in mind, so it can't be perfect. If your motherboard has RGB software, I advise using that over the G.Skill RGB software - attempting to use them together just messes with the LEDs, so one or the other. My other gripe is that users have to enter the UEFI (BIOS) and manually select the XMP profile on for the RAM, otherwise it'll default down to DDR42100. Simple for techies, but most people would just see their computer being slow and get mad.
I was real happy to find the memory in stock. Even better that I was able to snag the last in stock. In the market today finding in stock items is half the battle. This choice was easy to make. They were the speed I wanted for better performance w-AMD Ryzen and they were even matching the color theme for my MB. The LED is just a bonus and for a little flex. If you like the look of these and you can find them in stock, you should grab these you won't be disappointed. Great looks and great performance.
For AMD setups this is a great choice. i am not a big RGB fan especially since the RGB software is buggy AF - so to compromise i just set everything to white and i have to say it looks clean. the heat protection is decent as under heavy load i do not see a huge difference in temps.side note. back to the RGB. i did make this a 5 star based on the performance of the hardware and not the required software. i would have dropped 3 stars for the RGB fusion software but that wouldn't be fair to the performance of the RAM itself. Plus there are multiple programs out there designed by end users to run multiple RGB items without the need to run their proprietary software.still a great match for AMD builds
Look its got the rgbs. Its got decent speeds. The latency for access times really won't that big of a draw back especially at the 3600 speed units. The alternative version just cost too much for little bump in speed. My rig gas 64gb of ram, running multiple vms, or doing mining projects its been a good time. You could save more money by getting the non rgb version. But like...rgb is the greatest most useless aspect of my machine and I love it.
High capacity dims, blazing fast speeds, looks incredible. Not much else needs to be said. Sure it's expensive, but its some of the best memory out there. If you are planning on getting this memory, make sure you go into your BIOS and enable XMP/DOCP to take advantage of the advertised speeds since it runs slower out of the box. Paired with a Ryzen 5 5600x and everything runs smooth as silk. Also if you are planning on using a top mounted AIO, make sure your case has enough clearance at the top because the memory is a little large. I have a top mounted 280mm AIO and I barely had enough room. Overall very happy with this memory and would absolutely recommend it!
I bought two sets of this RAM based on the high number of positive reviews (plus to make sure I had the best chance of getting 4 sticks with same memory chips). I wasn't disappointed. I have the Asus x570 Dark Hero (also from Micro Center). RAM defaults to 2133 MHz, but after enabling D.O.C.P. it shows up at it's full 3600 MHz potential. Ran Memtest86 for over 2.5 hours with no errors. RAM manufacturer is SK Hynix according to CPU-Z. I was hoping for Samsung chips, but I understand that would be more $$$. Besides, these seem to work just fine. The RAM is packaged in a case/heat sync that's half matte aluminum and half brushed dark metal. I like it and it looks great matching other components inside my case. I was a little surprised on how heavy each module is. I like it and it looks great matching other components inside my case. I was a little surprised on how heavy each module is. The weight gave me the impression this was a quality product. The RGB capability was recognized directly by Asus's Armoury Crate software so no G.Skill software needed to be loaded.Like someone else here mentioned, the LEDs stay on when when sleeping the computer (they seem freeze in the last state/colors being displayed). That in itself is a known and industry-wide problem with all RGB RAM. I did a work-around to this using a Armoury Crate's Profile and 2 AutoHotKey scripts, and documented how I did it on a Reddit post "Work-around: Turning off G.Skill Trident Z RGB lighting in sleep mode" if anyone is interested. Now the RAM LEDs go off when I sleep my computer.
I initially bought a set of non-AMD optimized G.Skill DDR 3600 memory for my AMD 3950X build, and had nothing but issues. The ASRock Taichi MB wouldn't allow the 3600MHz rate to stick - even with XMP enabled. A reboot would always return the memory to the stock 3200MHz.ASRock lists this memory on their QVL, so I gave it a try and the issues were gone. (However, even though ASRock claims that 4 of these sticks will work, only 2 sticks at a time were actually supported.)Most importantly, I wanted to overclock the ram to 3733MHz to match the AMD Infinity Clock's internal rate, and with the help of the AMD DRAM Calculator, I easily tweaked this set to 3733MHz.
