I assembled the reel yesterday and did the testing today before mounting. Lucky I haven't drilled into the exterior of the house.Under water pressure the water inlet housing would disconnect from the outlet into the hose. This was with a 30 metre hose attached and I was able to replicate this result every time I turned the spigot on. There does not seem to be any other method to provide a more firm and secure attachment for the two parts. This may not happen with a shorter hose, less pressure however should happen when it was used within capacity.

When I first install it I was excited for the ability to wind the hose on evenly however I noted when you install it directly below there is a tendency for the reel to wind more on one side and it quickly fills up unevenly when you have a longer hose on it and you have to start manually moving the hose back and forth. I solved this problem by mounting the included hose direction bracket about 3 inches off the wall, now it auto self levels, 5 stars now, consider this if you are experiencing the same. You just need some extra long screws to go through some wooden spacers.

Bought this reel a about three years ago. Works well. Love the house guide. Wish I could buy them separately. Are it came with two. Only faulty with it is the orange handle unclips all the time off you put to much force on it when winding, but you can clip it back on OK. Hold my 40m hose fine. I was sick of the retractable ones always breaking after a couple of years, so I thought I would try a manual one which turned out to be a great idea.

I'm impressed with Gardena products. I originally bought just a hose but, since my current reel was old, I decided to buy the reel too. I have not been disappointed. It is nice and sturdy and runs through a channel to avoid it going all over the place. I have also now bought a 'gun' type nozzle to make the complete set! A happy customer. I purchased one at the store for the back of our new house. After using it for a couple of weeks I bought another one to replace a hose reel I had brought from our old house. to mount at the front of the house. I had to buy the second one from Lowes.ca. The store had none in stock. It came in no time though.They work very well. Very well designed. There is a metal bracket that you mount to your house. You assemble the hose reel and the entire reel slips in to the bracket on the wall. At seasons end you simply unhook the hose from the house spigot and lift the hose reel from the angled slot in the wall bracket and carry it inside. The bracket stays on the wall. Everything that has had water in it comes in from the weather. Awesome.
