Seriously awesome wrenches. Coworker has a version similar to these from Matco. These aren't exactly the same, and the Matco ones are slightly better in a few spots. The only difference is the heads on these are thicker than the Matco wrenches. Sometimes that gets in the way. Not often though. Great for all sorts of fasteners. A good example is hard to reach external torx fasteners. After borrowing these a few times, I had to get my own set. Great purchase. Matco is better, but its not worth the $400 premium.

When I received these wrenches I was impressed. They're nicely finished. The added length is important in some cases, and most of the set has performed well. With the exception of the 18mm, upon first use the ratchet assembly of the wrench fell apart. Two pawls and the toothed wheel. I was simply removing a nut I had freed with the box end. Pathetic really. This happened right after I was talking to a coworker about how nice the wrenches were. It was rather embarrassing. It'll be warrantied but I don't feel as confident in them as I had originally.

No doubt, Gear wrench is also one of the top brand of automotive tools!! I bought this set because I work on the Automotive Industry as a tech and one of my coworker has it. I always borrow some wrenches and God, they are amazing. I have another coworker with same set but no flex head and from Matco; I measured and compared both and they are exactly the same, but the only differences were brand, price (matco expensive), and gear wrench has flex head while matco does not. I will come back and comment about durability, but do not hesitate to buy this set!!

I bought these from my Snap on guy about 3 or 4 years ago and have used them professionally since then. They are fantastic wrenches. The flex head is a life saver when combined with the extra length. Only things I've noticed: they aren't indestructible, I have two that have broken ratcheting ends ( cracked, locking up, but still useable and turn) and if you apply ALOT of torque, they with shave corners off bolts. That is during hard abuse though, and not normal use. Overall, everyone who turns wrenches should own a set of these. If they can put up with me, for years, they will last forever for a DIYer.
Needed wrenches for tight, low-clearance, long-reach situations. Also needed for situations requiring higher leverage; using cheater bars or interlocking wrenches together for added leverage was marring or damaging my wrenches. So I justified my need to get an extra long ratcheting wrench set. I looked at Tekton, Mountain, Icon, and EZ-red sets but ultimately went with these Gearwrench. Main reason was that these wrenches have a non-ratcheting box end to break fasteners loose; the other sets were all double ratcheting box ends. Also, these wrenches have the tighter swing arc at 3-degrees, which becomes more important as the reach increases. These do use spline-drive like most of the other sets, however; I prefer the 6-point drive on the ratcheting box-end like the ... MoreNeeded wrenches for tight, low-clearance, long-reach situations. I deducted one star because these have the same terrible quality control that I've observed on my other Gearwrench and Husky (also made by Apex) ratchets, wrenches, torque wrenches, and sockets. Specifically dirt, scratches, smudges, dirty fingerprints, and small dings; also like my Husky wrenches and sockets, the quality of chrome plating in the broached surfaces is inconsistent.
The wrenches feel great in the hand. They're long for tons of leverage (which was the main point of why I bought this set). Some poeple complain about the ratcheting mechanisms breaking. But as long as you aren't using the ratcheting end to break fasteners loose you shouldn't have to worry about them breaking on you. Break the fasteners loose first with the fixed end of the wrench then ratchet the fastener out.I took a star off, since while all my ratcheting ends do work as they should. They don't all feel the same. Like consistency wise. Some feel like they have a much weaker ratcheting mechanism. Like the size 12 and 13 for example. Not outrageously different sizes. Maybe it'll go away with more use and I just have to break them in more, but just something I ... MoreThe wrenches feel great in the hand. Ok so pro Matco set that is around $570 vs. these which set me back around $260. The gear ratio feels identical and I don't use the ratcheting end to break stuff off in the first place so I'm not really going to say whether or not you can take a semi truck's lugs off with it or not but they are smooth and little amount of travel is needed for them to engage. I personally say they're a great product and gives a pro brand like Matco a run for their money. They are a little bit larger than the Matco ones in diameter but nothing that would turn me away from them. I've used them for a few weeks now and I've gotta say they are some really nice ratcheting wrenches! Would recommend!
I've used this set of wrenches for about a year. I have three or four sets of metric wrenches and two sets of SAE, but I use this set exclusively unless I have to use something else. The fixed side is great for busting loose and then quickly switch to the ratcheting side. The length is great for extra leverage! This is now my GOTO set of wrenches. Now I have to find a set of SAE wrenches. My only deficiency I see is that the ratcheting end doesnt extend past the wrench head.
KD Tools is pretty much GearWrench if you didn't already know. If you are looking for some extra long, zero offset, spline drive, flex head ratcheting wrenches, look no more. If you have never used a zero offset wrench before, once you do, you'll never go back. Being able to pull straight and not have to worry about the box end rounding off a fastener is a thing of the past. Add to that the length these have, and you'll have pulling torque for days. I'm not a professional mechanic, but have seen the price of these on the tools trucks, and dropped my jaw. The sizes that come with this are 10mm-19mm. So stop now and step up your tool game a little bit. Oh yea... They also have a flex head ratcheting end! The thickness you expect from a ratcheting wrench, but nice to just use it to finish removing that stubborn bolt. The flex head has just the right amount of stiffness to it so that it's not just flapping around in the breeze. Time will tell how that holds up. This set was purchase for me by a friend. Four of the wrenches had something off about the rachet end of these wrenches. They were 72 teeth. While feeling the racheting end, I can feel the difference. Another set was delivered by Amazon and between the two sets, I was able to get all the wrenches with 120 teeth. Very odd! These will come in handy where the extra length is needed but, always use the non-rachet end to break away the tightened fasteners.
