I've wanted to try a Global chef knife since reading Anthony Bourdain's endorsement in Kitchen Confidential, and it does not disappoint. The Massdrop price made it a no brainier. My wife has even taken to it. I've been trying to get her to use full size knives forever, but she's always preferred dinky little paring knives. Now the Global is the first one she grabs.

In the words of a culinary instructor I lived with for a time: "If I were going to work as a professional cook in some restaurant starting Monday, I'd get a set of Globals. They're great if you want a good knife that doesn't need to be babied."Spot on. My wife and I got a couple from our wedding registry, and I bought a few more when this sale went live. Some people don't like the dimpled steel handles because they can get a little slippery compared to wood, but that's the only downside I can think of for these things.

It was a Christmas gift for my brother, who loves to cook. The first time he used it, chopping the carrots and parsnips for the big dinner, he yelled out: "boy this knive really makes it easy!" Last Sat, my Bae cleaned it and put it in the drain board tip down. He brought it in to her to illustrate how she was supposed to handle it.It is his first professional knife and he loves it! Great buy!

I've had this knife now for almost a year and it's my go to for cutting vegetables and fine prep work. Blade is angled very sharply which allows for accurate cuts without mashing delicate vegetables or fruits. Main critique is that it does not have enough support on the top of the knife if I am cutting through thicker cuts of meat or hard root vegetables.
At last I have a sharp knife that cuts fruit, and vegetables cleanly and easily. But I have to be sure to use proper cutting technique and cut away from me like we're supposed to. Even a small nick in a finger can cause a sizable bleed. With that in mind I bought a second one that I use for bulkier produce and meats. I really like these knives and have already gifted a few more for friends who enjoy cooking.
I now have 5 pieces of Global equipment and this knife really is the icing on the cake. The weight, size and balance are all second to none, as is the ability to hold an edge. I own the Minosharp ceramic sharpener and hardly ever have to use it. Dont delay buy Global tody.
I had and managed to loose one of these knives previously. I thought it was too expensive to replace but alternatives I have tried just weren't as good. Really happy to have another. This knife is sharp and I prefer using a knife with a shorter blade for most of the copping I do.
Thought about buying a set, but wanted to see if it was worth it. This is the only knife I use now. It is super sharp, and just feels good in the hand. I read a couple of reviews about it being slippery when working with poultry or the like, and I haven't noticed that at all. Great knife, not sure I need to buy a set now though cause this one seems like all I need.
Global are great knives, excellent quality, a comfortable grip, stays sharp for a long time, and sharpens up nicely every time. Mid price range for quality knives so getting on on half price sale was an absolute bargain
This knife is one of my favorite purchases. I bought it to test out the brand and I will continue to buy more. It is evenly weighted and perfect at its job. It cuts smoothly and is very sharp. It is very good for dicing small things like garlic, serrano peppers. It does a good job trimming fat off of meat as well. It isn't bad at cutting things like onions, peppers, and tomatoes but in those instances a slightly bigger version is ideal.
