I never understand the bad reviews when it comes to this fragrance. The reformulation did not change the scent profile that much at all, and they reformulated this YEARS ago. I've been wearing this fragrance for years and the only critique I have with Glossier is it seems the quality control is not the best. Some bottles are stronger than others when it comes to the sillage and lasting power of the perfume. I was pleasantly surprised by the rollerball and have enjoyed using it. I found it particularly strong, which I like. The packaging is a little leaky, so I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it, but the bad reviews when it comes to Glossier You are nonsense. I then thought perhaps I ought to try the solid (but encountered the same problem) and then I tried the roller ball version (even worse - just pepper and alcohol). I may try it again in the future and see if I feel the same.

Several years ago, Glossier did a pop-up in my hometown of San Francisco. I'd made only a small few purchases from what was then available from the brand, and decided to go despite long lines of the superobnoxious IG type. Also less than optimum was the choice to locate the pop-up in a small restaurant which sold mainly fried chicken sandwiches...??So you walk into this tiny space packed wall-to-wall and on top of that the air is just 65-85% grease and fried chicken particles floating around. NOT a pleasant scent for cosmetics shopping. They need to not do that again...Long story short, this scent came as a sample with my purchase. I was expecting literally nothing from it and would never have given it a second glance based on what I knew from the brand and what ... MoreSeveral years ago, Glossier did a pop-up in my hometown of San Francisco. I tried it out because why not free stuff, and WOW.To this day, Glossier You is the only scent I've ever repurchased more than once, other than my main girls Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone, Christian Dior J'adore, and Oud by Acqua di Parma. DON'T SLEEP ON THIS ONE LADIES. It's a most pleasant and lovely surprise, and at a phenomenal price-point to boot. Job well done by the team at Glossier!

Scent does not last even 5 minutes!
28 April 2023

Very disappointed with this product! This was recommended by an acquaintance as an amazing smelling, long-lasting perfume. I do like the scent, which some don't seem to enjoy. I'm usually floral and this definitely is not floral, but I was looking for something different and I thought this was going to be great for me. But the person who told me it was long-lasting, I'm not sure what they consider long, but I cannot smell this at all within a few minutes of spraying on me. I thought maybe something was wrong with me sense of smell, so I checked with my spouse and they cannot smell it at all either. This was 15 minutes after spraying it ALL OVER since I was kept losing the smell. This morning I put it on 4 times hoping after a bit the smell might actually linger, but still nothing. I'm very disappointed with my purchase and unfortunately I threw out the packaging so now I'm stuck with this overpriced bottle for nothing. Talk about buyer's remorse!

Smells like stale cigarette smoke
2 June 2023

I always wanted to try this but never wanted to risk ordering it encase I didn't like it. Now that glossier is in Sephora I went and tried it out. I sprayed it on my wrist (stupid move) and at forst sniff it somehow smelled like old stale cigarette smoke. Probably important to note that I am not and never have been a smoker, nor am I around any smokers, ever. So this smell was absolutely just the perfume. Absolutely disgusting. I could tell that underneath that nasty smell there was something good but every time I took a whiff, bam! cigarette followed by ....hmm, cozy sweaters or something? Try it first
23 October 2023

I love this perfume, but definitely try it in store or order a sample from another site before you buy a bottle. It's a pretty unique scent and some people aren't going to like it.The smell starts off with a strong burst of pepper. That first spray is almost reminiscent of pencil shavings. It settles into a musky scent that softens and gets creamier as the day goes on. There isn't much sweetness to this one, since there isn't any vanilla or fruit or anything like that. The scent oddly reminds me of paper, like the pages of a magazine or newspaper. I like that smell, but it's not for everyone. If that description sounds a little weird, it is, but I adore the smell and I definitely recommend trying it out. Personally, I love this perfume. I think its amazing on its own if you don't feel like wearing a perfume with enormous silage. I can smell a beautiful powdery musk on my clothes the next day that I'm very fond of. I also use this perfume for layering with gourmands to make it more dimensional or with woody perfumes to add a little femininity. This perfume works well with my body chemistry, but I know others do not agree. However, that is simply the nature of skin scents! A skin scent that works for me may not work for you and vice versa. Musks and molecular notes like ambroxan enhance certain aspects of our personal chemistry, and sometimes it picks up on a note you may not enjoy. Although I agree this perfume sits close to the skin and isn't beastmode in its longevity, I think it's important to know what type of perfume you're buying before you're disappointed. If you're looking for a total powerhouse perfume, Glossier You probably isn't for you (no pun intended). Appreciating a perfume requires knowing what the perfumes DNA is, not trying to make it into a scent it isn't. I love this scent for its ethereal quality that sometimes takes me by surprise when I put on my sweater the next day and still smell You. Well, Me I guess.

bring back the old formula
21 August 2023

This has been my go-to, everyday perfume for the last few years. I am so sad that my last bottle ran out because I went in to repurchase this in store today, and it's so obvious that it's not the same perfume I used to use. It seems like the rumors are true--- Glossier reformulated this perfume. It does not smell as peppery or vibrant, it's now one-dimensional and musky (not in a good way), almost plasticky. I am not sure if they changed the formula across all their products (e.g., you body balm, roller ball, etc.) but it's super noticeable that this isn't the same spray perfume as before. In addition, this doesn't have the same staying on power as it used to. This new perfume only lasted about 2~ hours on me, whereas the original version lasted throughout the day. ... MoreThis has been my go-to, everyday perfume for the last few years. This perfume used to be less than $50 when I first started purchasing it and it is now almost 70 dollars.Definitely skip it, so disappointing.

You is such an interesting fragrance. It's powdery but not in a baby powder or old-school makeup way, which I usually hate. It's also got a slight soapy note that subtly says "clean" rather than just smelling like handsoap. It's also got a warmth to it that rounds the fragrance out nicely. I've only experienced the reformulation, but if the only complaints are about weaker performance, I'm not sure what people expect from a "skin scent". I still easily catch whiffs of myself after 6+ hours when sprayed once into my inner elbows and it lasts even longer on clothing. Also, if the reformulation was to take out a known allergen, I'm all for it and I think it's weird that people would rather "go back" to a formula with allergens that may not be affecting them personally ... MoreYou is such an interesting fragrance.
