I gave this product a chance even after all the criticism, and very glad I did. It did not disappoint. Not to take away from the negative experience of early buyers, but this tablet has had a number of updates that have fixed most (if not all) the issues from when this product was first launched. This tablet has a fantastic display & surprisingly good speakers. For those new to Chrome OS, there is a short learning curve. Office 365 is available online, as well as their mobile app counterparts. All the Android apps are available too, although some work better than others in terms of adjusting to a bigger screen. I'd say the price is a little steep for tablet, but that has been overshadowed by a great experience.

I was incredibly excited to get the product, a d at the current sale of getting a keyboard and pen for free with it. I have (had) the i5 version. I was let down by the lag I kept experiencing, as well as crashing apps and freezing screen within the first 5 hours. Sometimes I couldn't open the system settings. THE SYSTEM SETTINGS PEOPLE! It was downhill from there. I noticed the lag and looked further into the system specs, old flash memory system and an outdated storage memory system. Later, I tried to install a Google program called Lens.... But couldn't get it to work because the google services couldn't be updated because they have already stopped supporting this product. I'm sure there are more issues, but I've given up on it already. I've had this for about 4 weeks, and it has so many problems. It often crashes/turns off and won't turn back on without a hard reset. It also will freeze and/or not load pages. For example I tried opening my documents page (not even connected to the internet) and it just wouldn't load or show anything until I reset the computer. I find myself resetting my tablet for issues like this multiple times a day. I don't use it for intense processing, just watching movies, browsing facebook/linked in, applying for jobs etc. but it can't even do that. It usually doesn't open the netflix app when I want it to. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

I have used the Google Slate for over a year and would be lost without it. I use it both as a laptop and a tablet. I watch films on the go and use it to listen to music. The speakers are excellent. It links seamlessly with my phone and can now tether my 5G connection. The operating system is now much better and the bluetooth stable. It is light and excellent quality. I have the portable keyboard and the google pen and both are excellent. Highly recommended.
Well it took me quite a while to go for this as not really any pads this size around.didnt want an apple, I would have preferred a Android tablet. I've come From a 12.1 Samsung Galaxy pro. And apparently Android tablets are becoming a thing of the past and chrome books are more in, having said that apparently chrome books are on there way out as well if you read everything you see on the net. First of all let me say it's not getting used as a work station so purley a expensive browser with loads of storage for films / photos. No expansion of the gb it has 256 so big enough.you can plug external HDD in. The slate is very good quality the speakers are brilliant screen is brilliant, very hard to cast films to TV only done it once, think this is a Google thing not liking ... MoreWell it took me quite a while to go for this as not really any pads this size around.didnt want an apple, I would have preferred a Android tablet. This tablet was worth what I paid for it... gorgeous 12+" display, ripping i7 chip, decent battery life and a fast charge. Nice sound from the front facing speakers as well. That being said, there are issues with using what is essentially a mouse driven interface on a tablet with regard to button and other clicking activity. Sometimes it is very difficult to select a widget or control with the much less precise finger. As mentioned in other reviews, occasionally when pressing the power button it sticks or the system thinks the power button sticks and the tablet displays the power menu, selects power down, and shuts down. I fixed that by disabling the tablet timeout/lock. Not sure why that fixed it but clearly it has something to do with that (empirically). There are other occasional glitches with windowing that are annoying but then I look at the screen again and I am blown away by the display. This tablet is so close to being worth the original sticker price it is sad google chose to EOL.
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I ordered it one afternoon and received it the following morning. Very impressive and matching Amazon prime for delivery.Unfortunately, the Pixel slate although being in excellent condition did not suit my purposes because the android apps did not configure as an android tablet would. It works well solely as a Chrome Book.
Good Points: Handy options of tablet mode and easy to carry. I have paired this with Brydge gtype Bluetooth keyboard. Looks, feels, functions premium with laptop and easy slate mode. very happy with my this.Great sound and graphics too.I use a cheap pen from eBay, no issues. Works a charm 😉I haven't tried connecting this to monitor yet.Improvement Points: Android Apps - emails such as outlook and others have a small font. Scaling needs working. They do function well, just as in smartphone but fonts are small.
Slate Chromeos Tablet is a slick and well made device using 8th Generation i5 mobile processor. So no fans, or even heat vents. Whilst this means a little slower than a full i5 (only 2 cores / 4 threads) it is still snappy and of course being native Google everything works slickly. The front firing speakers give amazing sound. The picture is bright QHD type resolution. The picture is fab. battry life is OK, you would need to lower the screen brightness to get the longer times advertised. You get a full backlit keyboard with the Brydge accessory. This is excactly the same coloure as the tablet. Simple slide into the clamps and you have a perfect laptop. Keyboard is brilliant. Slightly spongy but my typing speed / accuracy was very good. Black keys show finger grease ... MoreSlate Chromeos Tablet is a slick and well made device using 8th Generation i5 mobile processor. So no fans, or even heat vents. Black keys show finger grease a bit, but it can easily be cleaned. Backlighting is variable. Trackpad is great. Does everything smoothly and allows gestures. Battery life is not as long as advertised - but then I have used it as a laptop with intensive use. You can daisy chain charging from the tablet to the keyboard (with optional cable). You can get a week heavy use from a single charge. With Linux, Android and full Chrome browser this is a wicked mix of useful applications, and the ability to run full office software like Softmaker (linux);MS Office (Android light version); games; video (Netflix, Prime, IPTV etc). A different approach to iPads (open and not closed) - two USB C ports - both can charge. This means you can attach any peripherals - a usb c port extender works fine. So a tablet, a laptop, and a screen size good enough to work for a full day. Great combo. Chromeos will not be for everybody. It is simple, but also misses some obvious screen shot and copy / paste tools. It can all be done, but you need to learn the tricks. If your life is around a browser, you'll find brilliant full chrome browser, and the option to load Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi full browsers using the Linux part. UI is slick and all launched from a single interface. Android and Linux integrates beautifully for notifications and use. Hard to fault the concept. Finally remember these are QUICK compared to MacOS or Windows as the OS is very light.
I've been an android user when it comes to my phones for years but when it came for tablets i almost always had ipads. Being that i'm Google everything these days( camera, thermostatm wifi routers, phone, smoke detectors, doorbell, chromecast) I finally decided to switch to a pixel slate and acrually traded my ipad pro for it. When my pixel slate works, I love it but daily it has software issues. Chrome OS just glitches. Chrome browser will just start displaying blank white screens in which impacts the ability to get into settings. Apps will just sit there and not install. A reboot will fix it for a bit but the issue always comes back. Chrome beta works perfectly every time but there's no way to make it default. It also gets very hot with use.
