After using electric shavers for many years, I returned to blade shaving about 6 years ago.Since my changeover, I’ve used both Gillette Fusion and Harry’s razors. However, I frequently cut myself while shaving because my skin would catch between the multiple blades or the handle would slip. I decided to try the Henson Razor system because of my frustration with the Gillette and Harry’s products.I’ve been VERY satisfied with the Henson Razor: My shaves are closer, I can shave in the shower and no longer need shaving cream/gel and I’ve only nicked myself once (which was on me because wasn’t careful when shaving around a nostril). That said, I have one warning to novice users: Replacing traditional double-edge blades (like our fathers and grandfathers used) is much ... MoreAfter using electric shavers for many years, I returned to blade shaving about 6 years ago.Since my changeover, I’ve used both Gillette Fusion and Harry’s razors. That said, I have one warning to novice users: Replacing traditional double-edge blades (like our fathers and grandfathers used) is much trickier than simply clicking-in a blade cartridge. You need to focus clearly on unwrapping the blades from their onion paper wrappers, and you must only hold them by the sides (I know that sounds obvious). Unlike the old-fashioned safety razors, you can’t simply drop a blade into the head with the handle still attached. You have to disassemble the head, position the blade properly, re-assemble the head and then screw on the handle. You can easily cut yourself in this process, as I once did. It’s best to wear reading glasses if you need them and proceed slowly and on a dry surface. Also, unlike cartridge razors, the double edge blades are only effective for 3 or 4 shaves, so you’re replacing blades rather frequently when compared to, say, a Gillette Fusion or a Harry’s Truman. However, all in all, the Henson Razor is a superb shaving system.

Just GREAT!. At first I was skeptical about this new single blade razor. I was basically raised on this type of shaving as my father used it as well. I really didn't have fond memories as I remember my Dad and I frequently being nicked and having to use toilet paper snips to cover our bleeds. But Henson had definitely advanced and improved this kind of shaving apparatus. I now look forward and enjoy shaving with the AL13 razor. It glides easily across my skin with such a smoothness and precision that I have yet to be nicked. I don't have to worry about buying these expensive multiblade razor replacements as I am confident I will keep the AL13 for life. Expensive razor? Initially, yes. For years I’ve been using Japanese Feather blades, though in the past I’ve used several others. I’ve been shaving with safety razors for decades, and own 3 other razors. For reference I have fine facial hair and not a particularly heavy beard. I gave the actual Henson razor either a four or five star review, I don’t remember exactly. I’m giving these razor blades 2 stars, and most mornings while I’m shaving I really think it should be 1 star - but they are very inexpensive. The Feather blades cost 4 times as much, which is still very cheap compared to multi blade cartridges. These RK blades feel like I’m removing facial hair with an epilator. These are worse than the Kroger brand blades I bought once at the grocery store. I’m guessing that the people giving these blades 4-5 stars haven’t used a safety razor before, nor used other brands’ blades. The price of the RKs does emphasize (probably exaggerates) the possible savings from switching to a safety razor, which likely helps sell Henson razors. Again, I really like the razor, and think it’s a great choice if you’re new to safety razors - it’s so gentle it will flatten your learning curve.

Absolutely an amazing shave. I have an AL13 with my sensitive skin I didn't know weather to go with the mild or a medium but I still get a great shave time and again. For years I struggled with ingrown hairs it was finally going to a barber and getting a straight razor shave after that shave I did not suffer ingrown hairs and changed the way I shaved. I switched to a straight razor and loved it other than it is a much slower, careful, involved shave with nicks and a few cuts while learning. While I still enjoy the straight razor I found Henson and gave it a shot. I feel in love with it from the first shave and find myself shaving more often just to keep the smooth clean feeling that shaving with Henson gives me. I have not opened this pack yet. I have yet to use up the 5-pack that came with the AL13. I have no complaints about those and don't have any reason to expect that to change when I do start using this pack. This pack should last me for many years at the rate that I use them.Especially when I noticed, after my first razor blade swap, that there are numbers labeling each blade on both sides. 1 and 2 on one side and 3 and 4 on the other. So, now instead of using one side and replacing the blade, I flip it over and use the other side. Not sure it that is actually how that's meant to work. I don't notice a significant difference in performance between the second side and a new blade, so it's working for me!
I have thicker hair than the average shaver probably so take that for what it’s worth. For average hair I bet this razor would be a dream come true. Overall I like it, here’s my thoughts: This razor does a really good job. It is not as fast of a shave as my schick razor with 5 blades on it, and it doesn’t get quite as close as that razor either. The blades for a Henson are a heck of lot cheaper though and there’s something kind of addictive about shaving with it. It just feels like I’m accomplishing something, I don’t know, it’s hard to explain. I have got a couple little cuts from it… I don’t usually get that with my other razor. If I shave regularly (every other day) I really get no irritation with the Henson razor which is awesome. It’s like when I switched from a Honda lawn mower to a battery powered mower. It does great if I mow regularly. If I wait too long I need the big guns lol. Anyway, all that being said, I do like it… just bought a pack of a hundred blades so I’m committed. I’ve tried a lot of razors so I was surprised i found one that made me want to switch. Nice work!
50 years of using an electric razor for the face and a cartridge razor for the head have come to an end - well, sort of... I purchased the Henson to get rid of all the plastic in the cartridge razor and get a closer shave than my electric one. My conclusion?1. You should only rinse your Henson with cold water. That cuts down on razor burn considerably. I won't go into the actual experience because lots of others have boosted the Henson's qualities about closeness, chatter and so on - and they are right of course.2. Takes about three passes to get a really close shave so you need time. The electric razor is quicker if you are in hurry.3. Use a really good shaving cream - I'm still learning...4. Use a really good after shave balm - I'm still learning...5. Would ... More50 years of using an electric razor for the face and a cartridge razor for the head have come to an end - well, sort of... That said, I will not be purchasing all that plastic again so will make do and... I'm still learning.Would I recommend the Henson AL13 - Yep. But if you are converting back from other forms of shaving then be patient. It takes time to learn how to shave old school.

I've been using double and triple-bladed Gillette cartridges for decades. Not the super-expensive ones, but an older type called the Sensor. They give a good shave, but are expensive, and the waste was something that someone else brought up a few years ago. I still had my ancient (I'm 69) Gillette safety razor and some Gillette blades and I gave t a try - after all, it's what I grew up on, shouldn't be a problem. But I hacked the **** out of my mug. Lots of cuts. What convinced me to try this razor was the spiel about torque and hold the blade rigid, with a smaller gap between the blade and the razor. And hey! I think they are not BSing - I have only used it a few times now, but the shaves are definitely as close as they are with the 3-blade thing. I think they are not BSing - I have only used it a few times now, but the shaves are definitely as close as they are with the 3-blade thing. Close shave, on the same level as the 3-blade razor, and no cuts, dings, or irritation. So I am really pleased so far, as I'm always looking for a closer, more comfy shave, and the plastic waste did bug me. So that's a factor as well.I was able to compare the old Gillette safety razor with the Henson one, and the gap in the Henson is much smaller - as advertised. I was worried that it would be balky - it's bigger than the Sensor III. But it got into the tight spots, like under my nose, as well as the smaller one. So I'd say it's definitely worth the $70.How long will a blade last? I don't know. But with 99 for $10, as opposed to like, 4 Sensor IIIs or 2 or 3 of those newer, more expensive Gillette saving "systems," there's really comparison in terms of TCO.Highly recommended.
at first i bought only the blades because the site and promo code i received was misleading. hope you work on that. I used the code WEEKLY WEIRD, techincally everything went off without a hitch. The site was just hard to use and I got confused, only got the blades not the blades and the razor then i couldn't use the code on the razer.Anyway, finally got the razer. Fantasic product, I put it to the test on my very rough, pock covere face, like all over my face. I'm a very hairy average mexican man btw.Anyway, product works as advertised. Just work on your site and backend.Sincerely, a satisfied customer.
