Very well made of good materials, not flimsy or shaky. It has the squeeze grip height adjustment, and the moveable stand off, to accommodate anything from a triple 0 acoustic guitar to the longest bass. The only thing that will not work is a headless guitar or bass, Ive got one, and had to modify a stand with the old bottom cradle to fit it. The grabber neck holder is the best of its kind, and works for years and years. The tripod legs are short, the center very close to the floor, makes it the most stable and hard to tip over stand there is! I gave them away as Christmas gifts about 5 years ago, all still working perfectly, everyone still loves them.

IMO these are the best stage guitar stands available. With the widely spaced legs and the locking top assembly, they hold your instrument solidly with little chance of it falling. Also, the physics of "hanging" the guitar on the stand puts less bending pressure on the neck. I own several Hercules stands purchased a few years ago. These new ones are much improved over the original versions. I found that the original plastic parts tended to get "sticky" to touch over time. I'm not sure if that was due to environment issues but, they felt awful. It appears these newer ones have an improved formula for the plastic/rubber parts and they don't develop this problem.
This has to be the most versatile stand made. Because your guitar doesn't sit on the bottom this stand will fit just about any stile or size string instrument. No matter what the shape of your guitar, this stand will hold it. I have a Dean ML and these have the V bottom. It sits very secure. The only place it touches is at the neck and then the padded prop at the back. It folds up pretty nice so you can store it out of site until needed. Also nice for taking it with you. Comes with a couple bushings to hold wide to narrow necks. It's a little pricey compared to other stands, but it's like comparing Wal-Mart to Sacks Fifth Avenue. You get what you pay for.
I love the peace of mind that comes when using these stands. The self-closing gates lock the neck in place, preventing disastrous accidental tipping over. I have the wall mounted and floor versions. Excellent products. Even better value when purchased at the "Stupid Deal of the Day" discounted rate.

The old guitar stands back in the choir room always scared me to pick up as the cradles or other parts would fall of or swing to odd angles while carrying them to the stage. The 2-pack was on a "Stupid Deal of the Hour" one weekend so I placed an order and set one up at home when they arrived to see how it works. Sweet! The guys on Praise Team love these since they're much more secure and easy to move around the stage, esp. since we have only a half-hour to reset for our second service. Easy enough for one person to grab all three at once to carry off the stage, too. I donated three of these, since I ordered another 2-pack a week later on a "Stupid Deal of The Day" and ... I have a variety of stands and supports. I actually have two Hercules stands very similar to this, but small ones for fiddle and mandolin: they are great, and I have two Hercules wall hangers. My problem with this GS412B stand is that it can be unstable if nudged from behind. With a heavy bodied solid guitar, something like 8 inches (200mm) forward movement transfers the centre of gravity in front of the two front feet; the whole thing topples forward, the lower bout hits the deck, the claw opens automatically, and your guitar is deposited, nut first, on the ground. This is only a potential problem with heavy solids, pushed from behind. It is much more stable with acoustics, and, of course, I make sure that there s no way that it can be pushed from behind! Great! Adjustable height. Fits both my acoustic and electric guitars. Works well with straps attached to guitars too.The adjustable mechanism feels solid, being a mainly metal construction. The grip system holds the neck just beneath the head-stock securely.The design balances the guitar such that it rests backward toward the tripod, so it feels like it won't topple over.
I needed a stable stand for my Warwick Thumb Bass. This beautiful hardwood instrument is heavy. The tripod legs of previous stands have cracked through continued use. My take on the heavy duty construction of the Hercules is that it will last a long time. The folding, locking and adjustment features are superior to any other stand I have encountered. I initially had concerns that the height may be a problem, The Warwick has a long neck and I was not sure if there was enough clearance - even at full extension - where it could hang in the stand during breaks with the cord still in the instrument without it scraping the ground. There is, after all, no cradle to hold the bass at a fixed distance from the floor. Luckily, this is not an issue. There is plenty of clearance ...
