My veterinarian introduced me to these Hills dental bites to help maintain my dogs teeth against tartar and plaque build up and to keep her teeth and gums healthy and they actually have made a difference. Every checkup has been a success. I purchase my Hills products at my vets office. I mixed them in with her regular dog food which is the Hills small bites. This brand is great!!

This product in theory is quality, however my Greyhound is not so keen on eating it, but will when mood strikes. I'm not 100% convinced that it actually makes a diffetence in the real world..Brushing his teeth is the best treatment, and financially cheaper, but the 2 minutes it takes always seems to be hard to find....sorry puppy.Unfortunately only the medium size bag was avaiable, as economically the large bag is best buy..But glad some was able to be supplied..Thanks.....hopefully stock levels will become more stable..

I wish these biscuits came in a bigger packet size. That would save me money and reduce packaging waste. My dog likes them but seems to drink a lot of water after eating them. When I give her other types of dry foods, she doesn't drink near as much water. She used to happily eat the Hills Dental (non-prescription variety). I'm not sure the extra costs is worth it for the prescription version.

My greyhound had constant gingivitis and builds up tartar and calculus very quickly. I pretty much have to get her teeth cleaned under anesthesia every 8 months. She's not a big fan of dental chews and honestly I'm not going to brush her teeth every day. I've tried water additives and supplements but they weren't helping. This food isn't magic but it has definitely made a difference with her teeth. Her tartar is building up more slowly and her gingivitis is not as bad. She seems to prefer the flavor of Hill's t/d over the other prescription dental diets.
These dog biscuits are HUGE - especially for small mouths! I originally bought (under guidance from my vet) the variety suited to larger breeds (as he only had those in stock) and these were actually smaller, but denser. When looking to purchase another bag I noticed that this variety was advertised as smaller bites. I thought they would be more appropriate for my toy poodles. Not so! Don't be deceived by the advertising. They are enormous and a struggle for my girls to open their jaws wide enough to bite into! A costly mistake!
My sweet German Shorthaired Pointer had a cancerous (Osteosarcoma) tumor in her mouth. We had it removed and the UW-Dental Clinic highly recommended that we start feeding her the Hill's Prescription Diet t/d Dental Care Chicken formula. They explained that the larger chunks break in a specific and purposeful way so as to cleanse the teeth as the dog crunches down on them. It will help keep her teeth clean, in addition to us brushing her teeth daily. Our GSP absolutely LOVES them! We started using them as treats to see if she liked them. Now we mix it with her regular Hill's Science Diet food everyday. She literally picks out and eats the Dental chunks first before she eats the rest of her food. My small sized dog has always eaten the Hill's Science Diet Oral Care dry dog food. After having an accident and subsequently losing a few teeth, my vet recommended the Hill's Prescription Diet Td small bites instead. My dog doesn't seem to enjoy them as much as her previous biscuits and at the much higher price, I am really not sure it was worth us changing to the Prescription recipe. Whilst still high quality, I am undecided if the change was needed. Considering going back to the cheaper Hill's Oral Care variety.
Introduced the food for dental care to supplement my dogs regular dry food. Started gradually however he has had a terrible reaction to the food after a couple of days & I've spent the last week dealing with diarrhea & vomiting and vet visits. This has been a very distressing time for both my dog and myself. For those who may ask, I am an experienced dog owner of many years across a number of breeds and have bred and shown dogs. This is the first time I've written a negative review on any product, which has been prompted by my concern about the product. Although the product may not be suitable for my dog due to his terrible reaction, this may not be the case in all dogs, so my advice would be for owners to monitor their dog/s really carefully and if this type of ... MoreIntroduced the food for dental care to supplement my dogs regular dry food. I always shop around before I buy this as it's quite expensive, and this was the cheapest place I found to buy it (including shipping costs). It also arrived really quickly. The product itself is great, my dog's vet recommended it because his teeth weren't looking too great and she had initially thought he would need to have them cleaned, but after a couple of months of eating just 4 pieces of this everyday, the vet said a cleaning is no longer required.
We have been using this food for at least 3 years and my dog didn’t love it but he needed it for his teeth. So we diligently stuck with it and his teeth have been rewarded. No more general anaesthetics for a scale and clean. The product has recently changed its flavour and now my dog loves it and begs for more. So yes I would recommend this food
