Hi. Our 18-year-old Chi has long loved the taste of this dog food. We had a Bichon and two other Chi's who were prescribed this dog food who all three loved it, too, but they've passed on now. Peachy still can't get enough of it-she'd beg or steal what she could over the years. Now our vet says it won't hurt her and if she loves it that much, it's fine to keep giving it to her so she prescribes it. And she loves what I call 'puff balls' which is a cup of this dog food with just enough water on it to soften and 'puff' it up. You have to shake it up and coat them all and let it set in the fridge until they swell up and turn light tan and she goes absolutely crazy for them. She doesn't see or get around like she used to but she's our last baby out of 5, so that little ... MoreHi. Our 18-year-old Chi has long loved the taste of this dog food. She doesn't see or get around like she used to but she's our last baby out of 5, so that little extra effort to make her happy is worth it. There's no way she can go through her day without her bickets and puffballs. The way all of our sweeties went nuts over this dog food it must taste pretty darn good, so no matter what it costs, I can't let her run out of them. These days she just wouldn't understand and would probably think we didn't love her anymore which isn't true so we can't have that happen. We love her more every day. I imagine your dog would love the taste as well. They've certainly improved it in the last 20 years.

One day a couple of years ago Duke who happens to be a Boxer, a very energetic puppy, all of a sudden stopped being himself. That was so unusual to me that I immediately made an appointment with his doctor. A blood test and urine test was performed and pointed to the problem. His doctor put him on some antibiotics and recommended Hill's Prescription Diet c/d Multicare Urinary care Chicken Dry Dog Food. He's been on this diet for two years now, doing very well. To Duke's dry food I add same c/d can food also. His treats are also Hill's Prescription Diet c/d - Metabolic c/d multi care.It is good to observe your pet and I am sure that every pet parent does that. Notice their likes or dislikes. It's the only way to keep them healthy.

Having our dog's urinary care Hill's dog food delivered automatically is such a relief. Being delivered to our home rather than my running around to our veterinary practice and often not finding this special diet in the larger size bag is a thing of the past. I am very happy with the automatic delivery process, I know I can change it at any time, and it is so convenient. I'm thankful that our dog hasn't had a UTI since she started on this food.

I fed this to my rescued senior dog Red 10 years ago. It was $70 a bag then. Just today, in 2024, for the heck of it, I decided to look up the ingredients. I wish I had done so then, but I blindly trusted my vet's recommendation. I was shocked to find the first ingredient was CORN, and several other grains high up on the list. This is ridiculous for Hill's to charge this much for corn/grain. I would get my dog off this immediately and feed him a non prescription food with better ingredients. Shame on you Hill's Science diet. You can do far better for our precious pups! Especially for this kind of money. I don't know if it actually did anything my dog because he only lived for 6 more months and was ALWAYS incontinent even after surgery and this expensive food. Sorry ... I don't know if it actually did anything my dog because he only lived for 6 more months and was ALWAYS incontinent even after surgery and this expensive food. Sorry boy, I wish I had done my research before feeding you this crummy food. What are people paying for? A vitamin or mineral they could get in a supplement form while buying better food for less money? Do your research people! And always get a second opinion if you question your vet and love your dog!
Hill's C/D Diet was suggested by my vet for little Lucky's urinary problems. She did suggest two other urinary diets but told me that Hill's takes bladder stones from our pets, analyzes them and reports back information free as part of their ongoing research. How great is that? So, I chose Hill's. Well, Lucky loves this food. And the cats go crazy for it too. I have to keep it in a sealed container to keep the other critters from eating it.
Hills C/D arrived promptly, in great condition. My little dog is new to this prescription diet, after several urinary tract issues. Yes, it costs a bit more, but if effective it will surely save cash on vet visits and my dog will feel better. It is worth it. Chewy was super helpful in making my first order. I think we are going to be very pleased with this association.
My dog had surgery for bladder stones two years ago. Very painful for her and expensive and stressful for me. She was put on Hill's dry CD prescription dog food. She is exclusively on Hill's CD dog food and Hill's dog treats. No evidence of stones since. She has reduced blood testing, x- rays and her weight is right on. Can't recommend Hill's prescription dog food and treats enough. I am 100% pleased and relieved with her results.
Your service is always top notch. However I am upset with the price of the only food in the entire world that my veterinarian would recommend for my dog. (Very biased)Do you put medicine in the dog food? Why is it prescription food? Obviously you just want my veterinarian information to make sure he gets the commission. This is the only reason I need a prescription. My dog keeps getting sick despite your "special" diet. $100 for dog food is kind of a joke. The reason people need prescription for medication is so that they do not take medicine that should not be taken. In your case the prescription model is just so that someone gets commission on your quadruple priced products. However I did also buy Hills Prescription diet cat food (sachets) a couple of times which I’ve not reviewed before.Pet Drugs Online have always provided great service, and have done so especially when we ordered this cat food. Because it’s a bulky item it comes by courier and that service is very fast - excellent. Our cat has had a history of cystitis and the vet recommended taking her off dry food and onto wet, and also using Hills to help heal her. It was difficult weaning her off dry food and it took some ‘you’re not getting anything else’ before we succeeded. However she has not had cystitis since and is happily eating wet food. Hills is recommended for up to 6 months and we used it for 2 months before using a less costly food. I wish we’d realised before that ... I wish we’d realised before that digging our heals in and making the swap over from dried food would solve a long standing problem. We now think that it wasn’t stress causing the cystitis but that oncoming cystitis was causing her to appear stressed. We have also been able to stop giving her Cystaid. What a relief all round
We recently found out our dog has a severe chicken allergy. We took my older dog Bella to a vet and was diagnosed with a UTI and bladder stones. On Jan 20th 2024 the vet he prescribed this dog food Hill's Prescription Diet c/d Multicare Urinary Care Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food. and I told the vet that Bella might have a possible chicken and or grain allergy. Because our other dog was on a grain diet when we got him and it was easier for both dogs to be on the same diet. The chicken dog food we had Bella on have her horrible skin issues like runny notes, itchy skin, dry skin, red skin, sometimes vomits, etc. Now the Vet ignored me and said no this food is the best and will cure Bella’s UTI and bladder stones in no time. We slowly incorprated the new food in Bella’s diet over time. On Jan 22 2024 Bella started having itchy skin, biting her paws, itchy her ears, her skin got so dry and flasky and pink.We feed Bella at a regular time at 12 pm and 12 am in a slow feeder that we clean regularly. So On Thursday, Jan 25 at 12:01 pm she threw up all the food 5 times until she couldn’t throw up anymore. Immediately I called the vet and got an appt for the next day. The Vet’s suggestion was to again try the dog food knowing that this confirmed the chicken allergy. As per the Vet’s suggestion she threw up when she was back on the Hills food. Went to see a new Vet and stop the diet due to the sever chicken allergy.I want to say the normal food we feed our pets were on was Taste of the Wild - Grain Free Salmon both my dogs never had any skin allergy and never threw up while on this food. So we did confirmed Bella’s food allergy is to the chicken dog food. Now we contacted Hills requesting a refund and the Vet did refund the money for the food which was great.Hill’s you need to make other flavored dog food like Beef or Salmon so you can be inclusive to dogs that have a chicken allergy.Because now dog is suffering more since there is do perscription dog food to help UTI that is not chicken flavor. Its not a good idea to keep feeding our dog food that makes her threw up due to her sever food allergy because Hills can’t change out the main protein source to Beef or Salmon this food for a almost 30 pound dog food is almost $120 per bag. That’s ridiculous price for using such a cheap ingredients like chicken and no other flavors that's not a good marketing tool. If they had another flavor like Salmon or Beef, I would retry this diet food.
