Hoover FH52000 Smart Wash Automatic Carpet Cleaner

This particular model has a "dry only" function which did not work on the first unit ordered. It has a circuit board which is either susceptible to damage or manufacturer defect. I used it on a white shag and the tips of the pile turned brown as it dried so I went through the whole process again only this time adding a clean water rinsing step and used my shop vac to remove the rinse water.Why would I use the Shop-Vac to remove the water you might ask? Because these units do not have enough suction to do the job.The cleaning solution container does not seal well when removing it from the unit so it tends to get messy and somewhere along the pathway in the unit seems to leak eventually.The dry only function seems to be malfunctioning or it could be the leaky cleaning solution.There are a lot of little nooks and crannies to clean after every use if you want to keep it operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.Ultimately, in my humble opinion, they need to scrap this design and go back to the drawing board. If you remove the cleaning solution container it will make a decent but very expensive vacuum.

These went for over $300 originally and then they got clearanced out at $60. We had just gotten a house and it was on our list of things we needed. This thing pulled up so much muck and dirty water that it was cringe-worthy. After we let the carpets dry for a day we used our awesome Shark Rotator to fluff it up and pick up any loose fibers. The carpets probably haven't been that clean in 20 years since they were first installed. They looked as good as new. Doing the carpets is a yearly task that I take pride in doing. I can't imagine this thing being any better. For $60 you can't beat it and although you'll never find it at that price again I'd still pay $300 for it. Especially for those of us with pets, a good carpet shampooer is a must. This Hoover is as good as it gets and I highly recommend it!

Absolutely ridiculous this companies, is a  joke

I reached out to an agent via chat, informing her that my machine stopped working, and there was a very strong burnt smell coming out of the machine. I let the machine cool off I opened it checked the belt. The belt was in perfect condition. The machine seem to look perfect, but it just kept doing the same thing. Every time I would’ve replug it and turn it off, the agent made me go through the process all over again made me send her pictures of proof that I have done that and at the end when we were almost done she asked for a receipt when I told her I currently didn’t have it she made me pull up in a search engine and nothing was pulling up. She ended the chat and told me sorry I can’t do anything I know it’s frustrating and just completely ended everything great customer service his company has it’s seriously a joke not able to help our customers when they spend money purchasing their products , and when they have a concern they reach out to the company and literally conversations get ended by the sales rep. What a joke.

Best Cleaner I've Ever Had

I bought this machine to replace the one that died on me after just a few years. The Hoover is lightweight so it's easy on the arms and back. It's like vacuuming! The dry only feature is a must and works beautifully. The absolute best part for me is that you can take the brushes out and clean them. If you own pets, you know that after cleaning the carpet the brushes smell like pee. On the old machines, I just had to live with it. Yuck! But thanks to Hoover, no more! The brushes were easy to pop out and easy to pop in. Mine came with a cool red mat to store it on. No more searching for something to store it on so the carpet doesn't get wetter. Best carpet cleaner I've ever used

This little machine is absolutely amazing and a dream to use and clean. I honestly can't recommend it enough. We have a late 80s home that we bought years ago that has 2400sf of 80s carpet to go with it. Eventually we'll rip it all out (can't wait) but in the meantime I had been using my old, very heavy and hard to maneuver carpet cleaner to clean the carpets. I was horrified at what the smartwash pulled out of the carpets and will need to go over them several more times to remove everything but wow does this thing work! It's lightweight and I love how simple it is to use. Seriously as easy as using a vacuum. I love how I don't have to hold down a trigger to dispense the cleaning solution which always results in my hand hurting. Literally game-changing carpet cleaning

Our apartment was slowly becoming more and more stale no matter how much I cleaned. We have one cat and it always smelled like a mix of various cat smells and just general "stink." I vacuumed all the time but I noticed our carpet never looked or felt clean. Decided to get this carpet cleaning vacuum so I could really go all in on deep cleaning it. I didn't want to rent one of the big machines because I wanted something permanent I could use at any time and I wanted something with a hose attachment so I could spot clean as needed and clean my couch and other upholstered items. Well, this vacuum literally has been game-changing! I did a full deep clean of all our carpets and suddenly our place smelled so fresh and the carpets looked equally as clean. Just fill up the water tank and the solution tank, plug in, and you're ready to go! It automatically switches between cleaning and drying as you push forward and pull back which makes it that much easier. It also has "dry only" mode. The instructions recommended running with the solution first and then doing a "rinse" of your carpet by removing the solution tank and cleaning again to get all the leftover residue out. I followed that recommendation and will be doing that every time because it seems like it really helped with freshening the carpet. Overall I love this vacuum so much and never thought I'd get such joy from a vacuum but it's the real deal.#sweepstakes

Needs improvement

I have owned carpet cleaners for years bother Hoover and BISSELL. What I like about this is the brush roll and that it's SUPER easy to clean. I like the large opening on the dirty water reservoir to dump and clean it without getting dirty dog water all over me. What I hate is that there's no trigger on this to control where the cleaner goes, I realize that's the feature of the machine. Sometimes, there's an area on the floor that needs extra cleaner. This machine has no control for that, not even a shot button for extra cleaner. I would not recommend this for people with pets. I do like the dry only button. For now, I have to keep a spray bottle with water/cleaning solution to spray areas that need extra cleaning. I also think a rinse only option would be great. The old spin scrubs had that and it was awesome! But the brushes on those were very difficult clean. I give this a B-. Close to perfect but not quite. Fix not being able to control the cleaning solution dispersal and you have a winner.

Keep your machine as clean and dry as possible. It takes quite a bit of work to clean it, but I can't imagine putting it away dirty and expecting the machine to last. A simple rinse and laying the parts out to dry is what the manual recommends. It easy to maneuver and does an excellent job cleaning. Depending on how dirty your carpet is, you will want to stop and clean out any debris midway through cleaning, even if the dirty tank isn't quite full. Drying the carpets goes much faster if you use the dry only mode until not much water is pulled up. I do wish the parts were made of sturdier plastic. I love this thing more than I ever thought I could possibly love any cleaning device lol. It’s as easy to use as a vacuum and, relative to other serious carpet cleaners, pretty lightweight. You will not believe how dark the dirty water in the tank turns as you clean your carpet and rugs! It’s so satisfying to see all that dirt being sucked up haha. I have to clean my carpet nonstop because I have an incontinent dog whose nickname should be little Houdini because of how skilled she is in escaping her diapers. No matter what, I end up with at least one accident per day on my carpet. I use this cleaner immediately and poof! No more urine, no more smell (I use the pet-specific cleaning formula). I cannot believe how dirty my sofa was (my sofa is performance velvet so it’s durable; I wouldn’t use this on finer fabrics like cotton) If you’re looking at this, just buy it. You will not regret it.

This is the best CARPET WASHER I have owned! Putting it together is a snap and I love that it is so easy to get to all the tanks with ease and the cleaning solution is in its own lil tank so it will not leak into the water tank. And oh my gosh, I always vacuum a lot and used a older version of a HOOVER CARPET WASHER and thought I was getting everything up out of my carpets but I was wrong. The hair that came up after just one or two sweeps on my living room carpet was amazing !! Thank gosh the water didn't turn very dirty or I would have really been disappointed in my older carpet cleaner . I don't have anything bad to say about this fine lil helper.
